GREAT SERVICE!!! GREAT STAFF!!!
My family and I stayed at the Riu Caribe last year in August for a week. I cannot begin to tell you the Excellent Customer service we experienced. The hotel staff go beyond to make sure your stay is complete. If you can and hopefully they are still there, make sure you get Cesar or Sharon at the front desk. They always have a smile on their faces and love to help in any way they can. The food was great and the service in the restaurants, sit where Mauricio or Alfredo can help you. They are a delight and will bend backwards to get you anything they can help with. When we got back to the states, I wrote the General Manager, Mr. Orozco an email but he never responded. This is a shame since I wanted him to know that type of service we were given and the people that went beyond their duties to give us that service. My family was going to go again this August 2020 but we decided to cancel due to Corvid19 crisis, but we are planning to go back in May 2021.
Unfortunately 1 star
The hotel is an older hotel but kept in good shape. Food is below standards but it could be because of the COVID 19. The biggest reason for one star was the charges for an extra occupant in the room. My daughter was 2 days delayed coming from Europe due to a problem with the flight. So the room was just checked in with one person. The price for a room with singel occupancy is MXN31000, double is MXN42000, a difference of MXN11000. But since the booking started they charge MXN21000 because that is the rules. Tried reason but there was none. With some logic with management this could be higher review because the rest of the people working here went above and beyond.
Great hotel. Great location. Can’t fault it
I stayed at this hotel is September 2019. Staying for 10 days with one of my best mates. And it did not disappoint. The beach is stunning. The water was warm, snorkelling was great. We took banana out with us and the fish went mad for it. The rooms was clean, tidy and spacious and the optics in the room. Where a great little surprise. Our room was 5/6 floors up and right on the end so we where never bothered by the lobby music ( I’m really hoping I get the same location on my return visit) The mini bar was topped up every couple of days with water , soft drinks and beer. Top notch service. The bar staff and pool staff where amazing a lot of fun and always smiling. Mexico Independence Day is really celebrated in the hotel and it was just amazing to be part of it. I am someone that trains every day on holiday. The Gym is very basic with some of the equipment sadly broke. I hope when I return on the 14th sept 2020 they have made a few improvements. The food was amazing. I eat very clean food. And there was so much choice. My friend eats more junky style food and she was pleased with the variety that was available. There is literally anything and everything. All good quality and all delicious. The waiting staff where unbelievable they didn’t stop. Tables where cleaned and turned so fast. They recognised you as well and would ask if you wanted to the same drinks. And they never let your water glasses get empty. Seriously tentative and hard working I was so impressed with the hotel that I have actually already booked my return Trip to the hotel arriving the 14th sep 2020 ( in time for Mexican Independence Day again - the tequila in the little cucumber shot glasses where amazing) Again i am hoping that we will get one of the rooms at the end of the hotel ( not near the lobby) and 5/6 floors up at least and the views across the ocean are amazing. I can’t praise the hotel and the staff enough I literally can’t wait for sept to roll round and walk out onto that beach Lastly Ricki who works on the water entertainment stand round by the main pool is a real asset to the hotel. He is super helpful and makes you feel safe when booking trips ( we booked loads through him including swimming with the whale sharks and it was one of the most breathtaking beautiful things I have ever done) Can’t wait to be back. See you soon. And I hope my partner and I will be looked after when we come back in September 2020 Jody cordon British.
A fun time at the Caribe
We just spent a weekend (3 nights) in an oceanview room at the Riu Caribe in Cancun. We have stayed at several different Rius before and they put out a really decent product, so we didn't expect any surprises. We were only there 2 days ago, so unfortunately, it was during this scary Coronavirus time so the occupancy was way lower than a normal stay at the resort. This resort is casual and on the lower end of the Riu chain, but I wouldn't let that deter you. It was perfect for what we were looking for and the price point worked as well. The hotel is older, but even so, we found it was kept clean and the grounds were kept very nice. The staff was nice and the entertainment team kept morale up and the pool games / fitness classes running, even with so few people. There are several restaurants at this resort, though unfortunately, they had to close all the restaurants due to lack of guests and so only the buffet was open. The buffet had a large variety of foods and the food was decent. The beach at this resort is beautiful (though a very short beach so if you are a runner, you will have to keep turning around) but it was clean and as beautiful as you imagine when thinking of the beach in Cancun!, and the pool was also very nice. The walk from the beach to the pool was also fairly close so we had a great time hopping back and forth between the 2! The drinks were strong, and overall, it was a really fun time. I would recommend this hotel for a fun, casual beach getaway! **Just a side note - UBER is NOT available in Cancun. We had heard that it was similiar to Puerto Vallerta where Uber can't pick you up from the airport but can drop you off (due to taxi laws) but it is not available. I tried on the day we were leaving to book it, looked like it went through and once the ride was to arrive, the app notified me that it was canceled, so just be aware of that.
The only complaint was the hard beds and the old pillows.......didn’t enjoy the sleeps there but the room was perfect, other than the beds. The service was great in all the restaurants. The employees were extremely friendly and polite. Our view from the Hotel room (939) was incredible.
