    Friendly staff and excellent surroundings

The room was beautiful and overlooked the bay. The only issue I had was that my room was not made up daily. The staff was very helpful and able to answer my questions. The food was very good and had a good variety, the price was reasonable. I took my food to the room

    Try the Fairfield...

Think about booking here and then...RUN. I'm an Ambassador Elite member which shouldn't matter except to say I spend a lot of nights in Marriott hotels around the world. First off, they are doing renovations. That's cool, all places need some love after time. But to make you walk across floors that are more sticky than a Frat House floor to get to the elevators is crazy. Throw down some carpet runners! Second, no coffee products in the room. Coffee maker is staring at you but not coffee or even cups. Third, I had to crawl around on my hands and knees reaching into a dirty and disgusting access panel that was left off to plug in all of the lights and the power for the nightstands. Fourth, there is only parking for hotel guests on the 2nd and 5th floors. So when I arrived I had to park on the 5th floor. No big deal the elevator was right next to my parking spot. Fast forward to check out. The elevators are out of service. Which isn't ideal since I have a disability but up the stairs I go. I wasn't expecting a video game level quest to the top of the stairs as I had to dodge dead birds, human feces, urine stains and drug paraphernalia on the way up! The front of house staff was wonderful to interact with and the food in the restaurant was really good but certainly not good enough for a return to this property.

    House Keeping drop the ball

During our stay, my wife and I, was celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary, housekeeping didn't clean our room, we had mentioned it to the cleaning team what we needed, but they did not prevail. We were a little upset when we return to our room, had to wait until towels were brought up, the room never got tidy up. This should've not had happened, for a whopping $831.52 for 2 nights.

Rude Front Desk and Reservation shenanigans

After more than six hours of travel, I get to the hotel to check-in as stayed there several times before to conduct my business at the Shipyard which is close by and I don't have to deal with the tunnel or bridge if stayed in much better places in downtown or waterfront area in Norfolk. The guy in the front desk, says that they do not have my reservation even though I show him my confirmed reservation number. He passes me on to another similar person. This time, the rude front desk lady (using the term loosely here!) tells me you are not on the list which surprises me what list are you referring to as I clearly have a confirmation number. To no avail, I call my company's booking agent and he tries to explain to her with all the booking codes shared between the agent and her. I also apparently could not make a new reservation as they were sold out as a big concern is in town. Well, I've a business to take care at the Navy Shipyard, but seems the concert goers have the priority as could get charged more than the government rate! The manager even did not offer to help book me in another hotel as there are several other Marriott-brand hotels nearby! BTW, the hotel lobby is going through a big renovation and the lobby is a mess! Avoid staying in this hotel as there are more and better quality options around the city.
