July 4th 2025 2 Night Stay at Hotel Cleveland Autograph Collection
We just got back from our July 4th weekend 2 night getaway & stayed at the Hotel Cleveland, Autograph Collection in room 636. Good first impression walking in, there is a large staircase that leads up to the main floor of the lobby, very ornate and detailed, nice bar with plenty of seating and the front desk. Friendly front desk staff. No issue checking in early if you join the Marriott rewards program. You can pull your car up in front of the hotel to unload your luggage then decide how you want to pay for parking. They have a parking garage next to the hotel that costs $48.00 per night if you self-park (plus tax) or $57.00 per night for Valet parking (plus tax). We did the self-parking. When I checked out, I mentioned to the associate at the front desk that I felt the parking was expensive, he explained that they do not own the parking garage so the parking prices are out of their control, they cannot comp or reduce the prices, so keep that extra fee in mind when booking here. Also, during my research before we arrived, I saw on Trip Advisor that they showed a picture of an indoor pool. Upon arrival when I asked the front desk where the pool was, they advised they got rid of the pool, so keep that in mind, no pool. As far as the room, as mentioned above, we stayed in Room 636 with a King Size bed. It was NOT a large room, but sufficient, since we reasoned we were not going to spend much time in there. Just enough room for the bed, nice size television and two night stands on each side (plus closet). Very nice bathrooms, the bathrooms were modern, big shower, with complimentary Aveda toiletries. It was a hot weekend, this past weekend. Upon entering the room, the thermostat was set on 65 but the room felt stuffy and warm. I called down to the front desk & they promptly sent up maintenance staff. Unfortunately, when they arrived, they advised there was nothing they can do, that was as cool as it could go. (It felt much warmer than 65) We dealt with the warm room for two nights. Also, room 636 was a decent walk from the elevator to the room. My tip would be to ask for a room closer to the elevator to avoid a long walk to your room after a day of exploring. The Public Square hotel location was excellent as far as walking distance to the restaurants, casino, & sporting venues. The problem was the homeless people. Once you got out of the hotel and turn the corner, they were everywhere and very aggressive. Try to keep your eyes on them but don't make direct eye contact and do not say anything to them. I felt very intimated walking by, they had no problem approaching, very boldly asking for money and cursing and commenting to you if you don't acknowledge. We just kept walking. There was no use crossing the street, they were EVERYWHERE! Everyone of them would say something to you as you walked passed. The garbage was also an issue, you had to watch where you were walking, so much garbage, liquids, feces, and clothes all over the sidewalks. We did see one city worker later in the day picking up garbage. You will definitely notice right away that the homeless and the excessive garbage everywhere are a huge issue in this area. Convenience to everything is the number one big plus for this hotel.

This Positive Polly says , Worth the stay
Once again visited this hotel for the holiday weekend July 2025 as we did 2024 Wonderful stay throughout our 3 nights. As far as reviews Im disappointed in how folks are so quick to spew out the negatives in this electronic day and age for u really are playing around with individuals livelihoods. Therefore Im hoping to wipe out some of the negatives out there. First of all about 3 weeks ago the City of Cleveland endured a fire at one of their main electrical plants in Lakewood (around June 25) temporarily debilitating many of the downtown businesses esp its hotels. Most had their electrical/AC/hot water impacted. The Drury (has its own system so unaffected) and the Cleveland Hotel was less impacted but still guests may have noticed. The CH kept its electricity and AC but temp lost its hot water accessibility. We had no issues. On Google there is mention of this in many negative reviews and encouragements NOT to stay here!!!! Guests obviously did not realize the fire had taken place :( 4 days until all functioning again. There is also mention in some of the reviews of a very bright light immediately above the beds coming from the sprinkler system or smoke detector. We did recognize the light, although it was not immediately above our bed, but to the right, but did not feel this kept us from a wonderful night sleep. I would like to remind people this is a 1918 building That has been converted into very unique hotel rooms. Back in the day there were no king-size beds or increased amounts of furniture so yes, there might be a room that has a more noticeable light above an oddly placed bed. However, on our 10th floor, room 1062 no concerns. There is also mention of poor timing services in the food locations. We did not find that to b the case while there! Yes one morning there were a few call offs so staff from other parts of hotel were called in to assist. (they were just a different uniforms). Therefore things were slowed down. I am of the opinion it is NOT the fault of the workers actually there trying their best to be held accountable for others who no showed! And in this day and age seems one can go nowhere without short staffing, many folks dont want to work consistently anymore! The dining room called MAWBYS was fantastic all around. (Ms Leslie greeted and seated guest always with a smile on face and welcoming words, Catrina and Jody (been here 18 years) equally fantastic Service throughout while they picked up extra tables which they were most apologetic about. The food, atmosphere, table comfort etc. all excellent! My favorite breakfast speciality eggs with potato latkes and turkey patties and cran orange muffin. The evening bar area called MARKS equally enjoyable. Extensive selection of spirits and nice food selection in an absolutely beautiful and grande atmosphere I enjoyed the cheese and meat and pretzel bread charcuterie board, and arugula fruit, and goat cheese salad. Bed linens are pristine, down pillow top and pillows and bathroom specialty products one of my favorite brands Aveda. Did feel our bathroom could be equipped with one more set of towels instead of the two for a party of two but a simple phone call downstairs or visit to the front desk remedies. And front desk specifically Anna A (20+ yrs) and Adam most accommodating. Adam is the go to for any city eating recommendations really knows his stuff including best route to hard rock Museum, waterfront, boat, cruises, or catching a game of baseball or basketball at the nearby arenas. We have found this location specifically at this hotel or the other 3 around it to be the best walkability getting into all of the favorite visiting spots. Yes, this hotel and the other three are located in the heart of downtown and in the same 1918 building That once housed a well-known department store and also the rail transit system. I am of the opinion with any large Metropolitan city in these areas, you are going to have homeless folks as some of the reviews indicated a park immediately across the street filled with homeless. This is the very SAME park where this summer the new Superman movie coming was filmed. Yes there are unhoused folks walking around, but again, not at any time Did I personally feel uncomfortable. The area is also filled with children as this weekend happened to be very hot and they came down to enjoy the parks water fountains for play. I would like to mention, however, the parking garage attached to this hotel, although recently updated could use further improvements. We found this to be most noticeable in that there is no direct entrance from the garage going right into the hotel instead you walk a block outside of the garage to get to the outside hotel entrance . This could be cumbersome in poor weather conditions or folks of limited ambulation . Folks who choose to valet, however not a problem. Unfortunately, I’m not a gal who takes pictures often but I wish I had to further illustrate the grand experience we had yet again at this hotel and do hope folks will enjoy it as well. I’m all about being positive Polly lol not worth sweating the small stuff to dampen What could otherwise be a truly lovely stay. Thank you

Nice hotel. Unexpected visitors
Hotel Cleveland is a very historic and beautiful hotel which was recently renovated. The rooms are very well redone and bed is very comfortable. Bathroom is very clean and stocked with Aveda products. My wife and I stayed over the weekend and while was showering someone walked in the room and my wife screamed and they closed the door quickly. Then after I got out while in a towel another person walked in and then quickly closed the door. After getting dressed I went to the front door desk and told them what happened and they asked me a couple of questions about what had happened and almost in disbelief said they would alert the manager and review the security cameras. I heard nothing from them after that. Basically they didn’t care. Overall nice hotel but when in your room use the deadbolt to avoid someone from walking in and use the safe for your valuables in case someone does while you aren’t there. Won’t stay there again personally.

Nice place to stay in Cleveland
Pulled into the garage and honesty didn't know what to expect. Garage was very old and dim, but when we got to hotel we were pleasantly surprised. The Hotel Cleveland was recently renovated and was beautiful. Lobby and lobby bar was really nice, room was upgraded and was lovely. Quiet and peaceful, rooms are clean and all furnishings are new. Hotel connects directly to shopping a casino and sports venues so you don't have to go outside if it is cold. We went to see the Phillies play and had a great time in Cleveland,

Don’t stay here.
Service: hotel staff couldn’t have seemed less concerned about guests. Let me be more specific: I felt as if I was in their way and a hindrance. Waited over an hour for room service and when she showed up she had some wrong beverages. The next morning the hostess at the restaurant informed me told me the kitchen was behind. More staff should have been added. The bathtub in room 521 is an accident waiting to happen. Put a towel in the tub or make sure you have a lot of bandages.
