Has anyone ever seen the movie 1408?

We checked into the hotel and we could tell just by walking up the stairs to the lobby that this hotel was a bit outdated. The staff was friendly checking in. We got to our room and it was just scary. The room was so small and everything just seemed outdated. There were no cabinets in the bathroom and the panels that were there were painted shut and looked dirty. We stayed in the room long enough to book us a room at another hotel. My fiancé went downstairs to tell them that we were checking out the front desk clerk just said “ok” and refunded our money. When the bellman came up to help us with our luggage he asked if everything was ok and I said I was creaped out by this hotel. I told him I felt like I was in the movie “1408”. He said he understood completely and he sometimes compares the hotel to the movie The Shining. He said he is always looking for the twin girls standing in the hall. We will never recommend or stay here again.

Splendid lobby area and bar. Outdated room.

PROs: a place with a soul, a heritage location, fine, old Cleveland. Elegant lobby, staircases and saloon, with bar. Nice and friendly people at check in. Nice Club Lounge -a mezzanine covered in woodwork. CONs: my room was no doubt dated - carpet to be redone, at least. The bathroom was a +50years old, stained walls old relict needing reinvention. Nothing malfunctioning, just a drop from the fresh elegance of the lobby floor. CONCLUSIONS: the lobby area is far above the ones of the Westin and Ritz Carlton Cleveland, to my opinion. The rooms don't keep up with it, tough. If you're staying expecting to use the lobby saloon and bar, than this hotel can give you a quite unique experience. If just come for the night, well, you can find fresher places.

    Great Customer Service

We booked two rooms so a group of us could go to the Cavs game. This is the perfect location. We never had to walk outside as the Renaissance is connected to Rocket Mortgage Arena & the Jack Casino. The service at the hotel was outstanding. The atmosphere is beautiful & the room was very specious & clean. Thank you for a great stay.

    tired, worn out and overpriced

Spent a recent Friday/Saturday night at the Renaissance in Cleveland. Such a majestic facade that wraps such an old worn out, outdated and dismal dump. The room had cracked walls and outlets that didnt work. The bathroom was hideous, leaking faucets and mold in the shower. I asked about switching rooms and was told it was not possible? Glasses were in the hall when i arrived and were still laying on the hallway carpet when i left two days later. Disappointment is a gross understatement.

    Beautiful Historic Hotel

I was captivated the moment I entered the main lobby. The elegant detail, workmanship, and beauty of this historic hotel is a rarity in today's wolrd. The staff, from the front desk at check-in to the staff at check-out and everyone in between, Vance, Sophie, Dave, Albert, were so extremely friendly, accommodating, and rich with interesting tidbits on the history of the hotel. Vance and Sophie, thank you for sharing your knowledge on how best to get around. It was invaluable. Dave, you by far won the martini and personality competion. Albert, thank you for everything, what a kind spirit you have.
