Krystal Grand Hotel is very nice.
The Krystal Grand Hotel is in a beautiful area!!! The blue waters are pristine and so so amazing!!! There are many activities available in this area!!! There are several good restaurants on the hotel complex. They are very clean and covid conscious. Security is available to gain access to the facility.
Ignore the bad reviews
If you read a bad review, ignore it. I booked a 6 night all-inclusive for my family of 3 in a Deluxe Ocean View w/a king bed in the main tower (not Altitude) through Vacation Express and we couldn't have been happier. Nice, clean room that was well maintained and that was kept impeccably by the house keeping staff daily. We had plenty of towels, hot water, no foul smell, daily stocked mini bar with our choices of non-alcoholic beverages, and a lovely view from the balcony. *The toilets take 2 flushes. Check- in was on a Sunday afternoon and took about 10 minutes total. The desk clerk was a little difficult to understand, but we got through it and had all of the information we needed. *You do have to wear masks indoors at all times unless seated for a meal. The food here has gotten a bad wrap in a lot of reviews for some completely unknown reason. I didn't love EVERY single item I tried, but over 90% was delicious! Kudos to the chefs and staff. It was much better than any other resort I have been to. The majority of the 'misses' were desserts, which, to be honest, we didn't need anyway! The breakfast buffet was our favorite meal every day. So many savory options like mole chicken legs, pork medallions, scrambled eggs, ham croissants, potatoes & peppers, and an omelet bar. No shortage of breads and sweets, too. Cinnamon rolls, pancakes/waffles, oatmeal, cereal and fruit. The spread was impressive. We never ate lunch because we were too full from breakfast. *Try the spicy brown sauce by the fruit bar on your savory foods. It will burn your mouth off in the best way! And the green sauce is smooth and delicious, but without as much kick. Dinner was always a treat. The menu was the same except for Tuesday and Friday (Mexican nights) at the main dining area. Not sure if it is always the same eating area as the buffet, but it was during our stay. The Grill restaurant building was closed for renovations, but I believe what we were served at night was their menu. We tried almost everything on the menu, and only could have done without one or two dishes. The jerk chicken and the oh-so-heavenly mashed potatoes were my favorites. The pork medallions and the guacamole were my friend's favorites, and the fish fingers from the kids' menu was my daughter's. Our drink preferences were the house chardonnay for me, margaritas on the rocks for my pal, and virgin frozen strawberry daiquiris and pina coladas for the kiddo. *The beer on tap tended to taste like the soapy water they washed the glasses in, so we steered clear when we couldn't get it in a can. There are no straws at the resort. If you like straws, put some in your suitcase. The beach was dragged daily by staff and was always clean except for one 'dump' area near the shallow pool of sea water that seeps through the concrete block border. There is no shade on the beach, so be prepared to sweat and wear your sunscreen. The algae was only bad one day while we were there, and the staff was outside removing it with wheelbarrows and shovels. *The weekend was very, very busy on the beach. It is accessible to locals and they utilize it. During the week, it was quiet with no crowds. The pools were nice, and if one was busy, usually the other was not. Towels were always available at the outside desk, I never had trouble finding a lounge chair, and the area was clean. The pools themselves were clean enough, but I wouldn't say pristine. We sure used them, though, and loved the music and swim up bar. We were never offered drinks or food at the pool area, but between the swim up bar and beach bar down below by the beach, we were never more than a few steps away from a drink. *Make sure to wear your mask to the bar if you are not physically in the pool or you won't be served. The best bar at the resort is the one in the main building, right in the center. The lady running the bar is phenomenal and we loved that she remembered us and our drink preferences from day 1. She did not wear a name tag, but we think her name is Yvette. If that is wrong, I apologize. But check out my photos and look for her. Her drinks and demeanor were the best of the best. The worst part of our trip was fending off the time share vultures set up in front of the main lobby elevators. They call themselves concierge, but they are NOT. They will try to give you 'free breakfast' (which you already get with all-inclusive), 'coupons' and 'discounts' on excursions in exchange for 3 hours of high pressure sales. *Spoiler alert! The coupons are junk and the excursions are much less if you search and book online.* so tell them no. If the lady that stalks everyone in the lobby and in lines for meals approaches you, lie. Tell her you have already done the program. It is the ONLY way to get her to leave you alone. You aren't safe from them until the evenings. We started going down to floor 'S' below the lobby to get to the pool and beach to avoid them. Covid testing was in what would normally be the kids' club (which was closed). We made an appt 3 days before we left and got an appt that afternoon. Took about 15 minutes for all 3 of us. It was fast, and 2 of our tests were included in the price. The third was $20 and had to be paid for with a credit card. They expect a tip here, so take a couple of dollars to put in the box. We walked the short distance to the open flea market and had fun haggling with the locals over prices. It is a very high-pressure sales complex, so if telling people no isn't your thing, don't go. There were plenty of chain restaurants, bars and shopping on the strip, but there is no shade, so early or late is best. We would absolutely stay here again.
Great trip to Krystal Grand
We loved our time at the resort. All of the staff were so attentive and friendly! Nestor is the best bartender we’ve ever seen. He’s at the bar in the Altitude Tower. We could just tell him the type of liquor and he would make the most unique and fun drinks! If you’re sitting at the the pool - find Alejo! He was our favorite and so great about checking in and making sure we always had everything we needed to make our days perfect!
The hotel is simply amazing! It over did our expectations. Beautiful sight, great location - only 100m away from Coco Bongo and main shops. Super clean and amazing staff. We were greeted by Joalison who made us feel very special and at home. The beach is perfect and the pools are good. I would recommend the Altitude tower as a stay because it is truly so much nicer, if budget allows. It also gives you passes for premium drinks, as well as a separate infinity pool for Altitude guests only. The restaurants are good with a variety of options. The rooms at Altitude Tower are out of this world. Beach front, super spacious, amazin bathroom and a breath taking balcony. We loved every bit of it. Would def. stay here again!
Celevino is amazing! He took amazing care of my family and I at the pool at the Krystal Grand in Cancun. The whole service team at the Krystal Grand was amazing and we really received then best service. I would come back just because of his 5 star service!
