Room was very dirty - mold on the ceiling, damaged furniture, questionable spots on the floor, peeling wallpaper, dirt near the toilet. Just disgusting. Left after the first night to stay at the Majestic Garden Inn.
Paper walls and freezing room
We came here with my husband for work for a week, my first impression was good, after I spend one night it changed all. Beds are confortable, the room is clean where you can see it but...I couldn’t sleep till 3 am because in the room next to us I could hear absolutely everything, the talk, the laughs... We had to move the furniture to switch off the fridge because it was old and making a lot of noise, there is a strong noise coming constantly from the bathroom ventilation and we were super dress in bed as the room is freezing...the air comes from the space between the door and the frame 🤷🏻♀️ Location is good and there is many places you can go walking but you should bring some ear plugs if you want to sleep!
We stayed at the hotel for multiple nights. The location is great, as it’s a couple of minutes’ walk from the Disneyland resort. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable and well equipped but wasn’t clean when we arrived. This was my second visit to the hotel and the room we stayed in was ready for refurbishments. It looked very outdated! The hotel is charging a daily resort fee which is ridiculous as it isn’t spend for improvements to the hotel itself. Looks like that the place went from good in 2014 to very outdated in 2019. Would not return here.
Overbooked - Room was Paid in Full in June!
I booked and paid in full for a room here last June, and just received a note that my reservation has been canceled because the hotel is overbooked. How is that even possible? No explanation, no information, and no apology. I am no stuck scrambling to find suitable housing for next week, when prices have gone through the roof. Unacceptable. I will never stay here again and encourage everyone to look elsewhere.
Read Before You Stay
Okay, the plus side: accessible breakfast, and very close to Disneyland. But the fact the Red Lion relies on its proximity is not enough to justify the poor conditions of the hotel. You will not be spending energetic hours in your room after exploring all day, so you won't care about the smell of the carpet, or the tattered blankets (our topper was frayed as if someone took a razor to it), or the uncleaned mirrors, or the stained blankets, or the amount of garbage under the bed left by the previous occupants (used socks. Empty cans. Wrappers. SO gross). Even the Smuckers jam packet lurking on top of the mirror frame, left by someone who seemed to know it wouldn't be removed, was a great reprieve compared to the fact our bathtub wouldn't drain, and left our feet itchy and slimy from the backup water every night that we would need to wash off in the sink if we wanted the itching to stop. They offered to send up an engineer to fix the problem, with no estimated time frame (the person at the desk seemed unsure of what to do, fair enough), but with the extra cost of resort fees, breakfast, and whatever else I anticipated on the bill at that point, was not enough to justify waiting in that disgusting room when we paid for the convenience of the hotel with a tight time frame on our vacation. So, was it worth it? For a couple, absolutely not. We did not save money within budget as anticipated with the extra fees, and although everyone at the desk is kind, you can tell there's a "no refund under any circumstances or inconvenience" attitude that does not support improvement of the overall hotel. I told them of my experience, but got more or less a "thanks for letting me know, and please leave, because I don't want to deal with this" approach. Do I want my money back? Yes. Will I get it? Absolutely not. There is a location incentive for the hotel to forego its own improvement. There is only so much a "I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your stay" can do.
