Just come back from holidaying for 2 weeks at this hotel. Unfortunately we had a bad start to our holiday with our key card not working, within less than 24hrs I had been to reception 6 times as the key did not work, ended up in tears, eventually resolved by having to change the whole lock. Rooms were spacious and clean, could do with a refurb. All cleaning staff were amazing but staff at pool bar and beach bars were a bit rude. Food was average at the buffet and sometimes unedible. However We did enjoy the Italian and Mexican restaurants. I dont think we will return as I do like to try different hotels and destinations. Overall slightly disappointed with our stay.
Great place to unwnd
I stayed here for a week on my own. The resort is reasonably small, and quiet. There's a really good-sized pool, with plenty of sun loungers - it needs more umbrellas though. There were also loads of sunbeds at the beach. The room was a good size, if a little tired (there were really big cracks in the sink, and the shower flooded unless you turned it off after about a minute). The balcony had a sea view. Food was ok - not the best buffet I've had, but not the worst. The best food was omelette for breakfast, and the Dominican buffet - delicious! I ate at 2 of the other restaurants - Rio Grande was ok - I've seen people rave about it; maybe I chose the wrong things. There were nachos and dips as an appetizer. The dips were salsa, avocado and cheese (which didn't really taste of anything). I had mozzarella sticks, which were ok and the chicken codzitos. They were described as chicken and veg, rolled in a tortilla, served with sauces and melted cheese - I was expecting a form of burrito. what I got were really thin, small rolls. The inside tasted like a spring roll and the sauces were the same as with the nachos, so no actual melted cheese. The food at Mare Nostrum was really nice ... I had grouper to start, then snapper with mash, carrot and broccoli. I got 2 pieces of fish - one was cooked just enough to eat, the other was practically raw, so I left it. There was 1 bit of carrot and 1 bit of courgette sticking out of the mash. But, everything was really tasty. Unfortunately a mariachi band started to come round the tables, so I ate what I could and left quite quickly! Don't bother with the shop - ridiculously expensive $7 for a large bag of crisps Definitely worth a visit for a quiet resort
Deff not 5 star
Just returned from 10 nite stay nice place but for older holiday makers, No entertainment at all of an evening unless its dancing in the lobby then sitting on wooden chairs same every nite apart from one evening beach party but only could fit 40 odd ppl on the decking area an all spanish music no matter what time of day an at any of the 3 bars its the same an as others have said only one bar person to serve. Food was ok but mainly luke warm even in steak house all pre cooked an plated just comes out of hot oven hence luke warm. Best restaurant is italian. Drinks if you go vip are scarce you need ask for it other wise u get local spirits. Beach area vip only is day beds no one comes around take ya orders until we complained UNLESS you tip like crazy then cant get rid them which if you pay for service you should at least get that service there's no wifi at all on beach, pool area hit n miss only gd place in ya room. Maid service was great allways clean tidy fresh towels, mini bar stock poor 2 beers 2 soft drinks an bottle water wasnt filled all time after use , room service was ok ..check on arrival re if you get charged and what you can order as there was some confusion re this. To sum up this hotel -quiet.. lack of atmosphere ..spanish orientated .. and vip not worth the money just stay standard
