    Abysmal

Terrible experience. Rooms outdated and dirty, staff horrendous, management abysmal. Director of Ops Mechele Mcrakken does not know what she is doing.

A shocking and humiliating experience at the Providence Marriott Downtown! Terrible experience due to breed discrimination!!!!! We stayed at the Marriott in Providence, RI, bringing our three dogs — all registered ESAs. Our pit bull, Soda, was an absolute angel: she joined us at the lobby bar, went out to dinner with us, and was well-behaved throughout. The hotel, however, placed three other dogs on the same floor, causing barking between rooms, and then punished only us. It was blatant breed discrimination — our dog was singled out simply because she’s a pit bull. My husband and I were in town for a family wedding and had reserved a room well in advance. A month prior to our stay, I proactively called the hotel to confirm their pet policy, specifically inquiring about my two registered service animals. I was assured there would be no issue. Upon checking in, we noticed several other guests — including family — with dogs as well. 45 minutes before we were leaving for a wedding, staff came to our room and insisted we had to leave immediately “for the protection of their guests”. They refused to show us the pet policy, stationed security outside our room, and forced us to pack up within 15 minutes, making us miss the reception entirely. Meanwhile, the other dogs (a lab mix and two doodles) weren’t asked to leave at all. Director of Operations, Mechele McCracken, that we were being evicted due to complaints about the dogs. We were treated unfairly and humiliated, and we will never stay here again. Disappointing and unacceptable. Despite explaining the situation — and the fact that these were registered service animals — Ms. McCracken refused to provide any details, warning, or timeline of events, and refused to show us a pet policy. We were given less than an hour to pack up and leave, citing the puzzling justification of “protecting other guests” — an insulting and baffling rationale, especially when other guests in the block had dogs and weren’t treated the same. To make matters worse, the room itself was subpar and not at all what I’ve come to expect from Marriott. The accommodation felt run-down, making the overall experience even more disappointing. With no other available options, we were forced to drive four hours back to New York, missing a once-in-a-lifetime family moment. The lack of compassion, accountability, and professionalism shown by Marriott staff was inexcusable. This incident has left a lasting scar on what should have been a beautiful, celebratory weekend — and a permanent stain on the Marriott brand for me, my family, and others who witnessed this treatment. Marriott should be embarrassed. We will never stay at a Marriott brand hotel again.

    Good Hotel in Providence

We had a nice stay. The hotel is clean and modern, with a nice pool and indoor hot tub. Breakfast, which was included in our rate, was good. The only complaint would be that we had 3 people booked in our room, and they would only give breakfast to 2 of us. The 3rd person was charged $29 for the buffet. Oh well, it was still a great hotel. They did offer a shuttle within the city, which was nice, we saved on uber rides. I would recommend the Marriot for sure.

    "The Best of Providence"

They had me from "hello." I wasn’t familiar with the property, so I called ahead to ask a few questions before booking. That’s when I had the good fortune of speaking with Erin—enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and genuinely fun to talk to. Her passion for the hotel and excitement about what it offers immediately reassured me I was making the right choice. She truly set the tone for an incredible experience. From the moment I arrived, I knew it was going to be a great stay. I was warmly welcomed by Ryan, whose customer service skills are truly second to none. His genuine hospitality instantly made me feel at home. Let’s talk about location—this hotel is nestled right in downtown Providence, and the setting is vibrant, walkable, and full of local character. I loved being able to explore the city on foot, but for those wanting to go further, the complimentary shuttle is a fantastic bonus. My room was absolutely beautiful—spotlessly clean, comfortable, and equipped with everything I could need. A special shout-out to the M Club Lounge, which was a peaceful retreat perfect for relaxing after a busy day. If you’re traveling for business, this hotel truly checks every box. What stood out most was the intentionality behind every interaction. The entire staff went out of their way to ensure I felt welcome and cared for—from check-in to check-out. It’s clear that guest satisfaction is more than a priority—it’s a passion here. Thank you to everyone at The Providence Marriott Downtown for making my stay so memorable. I can’t wait to return!

    Recently Renovated, Very Comfortable Hotel

Already in love with this property already. Staffs are very kind, eager to help. Shuttle driver knows the best spots to eat! Rooms are recently renovated so it features the modern comfort and design Marriott hotel have. M club is easy access from the lobby too. Swimming pool and hot tubs are back for the summer. Also, gonna love the pop-up event where I get to try the free fried rice bar at the lobby! Never had that at other Marriotts!
