    Out with the old

    This hotel is old and in serious need of updating. We stayed in their suites updated (not). The carpet was so dirty your socks turned black. Furniture looked like it cane from thrift store. This is not a quality Hilton. Not sure how Hilton would allow them to use their branding. I wanted a lazy river for us to have fun and relax. It was rundown and dirty, as well as the other pools. I won’t even discuss social distancing. I hate writing negative reviews, but you should know what your getting for your money. We chose Hilton over Marriott because we are diamond members and pretty loyal to the brand. Wrong decision this time.

    Never Again...

    My husband and I decided on a staycation and chose the property because of the swimming pools. We were sorely disappointed in this property. When we checked in we were not greeted as Diamond members or were we told that all of the restaurants were closed. When I checked their website, Rico’s was supposed to be open but it wasn’t. We had to go out for our meals and then deal with trying to find a parking spot upon our return. Our room was updated and clean but that was the beginning and end of the niceness. The property as a whole was not maintained, broken pathway lights, broken fountains, trash overflowing, swimming pools in disrepair and filthy. There were many disrespectful patrons, littering, playing loud music and just being obnoxious in the pool areas especially at River Ranch. No social distancing and no one was enforcing the posted rules. If the AZ Dept of Health was there, they would have shut the pools down. The motel appeared to be severely understaffed so I do not blame the staff not being able to keep up. I read the reviews before I made the reservation which can be a crap shoot based on one’s expectations but we should have heeded the poor reviews. There is no way this place has been a resort in the last 20 years. This place is a dump!

    One Night Visit - Staycation

    Very low budget! Stay away! We have been to go this location several times in the past. Last visit was 5 years ago and we enjoyed it. We booked two rooms in the North Pointe for two nights. Never will we go back! The rooms were updated and clean but that is the only positive review. The resort was jam backed. There was no social distancing being enforced. Water park was over ran by obnoxious kids and adults. Families were coming in as truckloads and no regards to other people. Tons of kids that were running around, splashing, horse playing in the pools and fountains. When the water park closed the same people were at the North Pointe pool until it closed. Our family didn’t want to go in and didn’t feel safe. We left the resort to eat and we didn’t feel on edge. This does not appear to hold up the same Hilton standards and won’t be surprised that it gets sold. So run down and the smell of marijuana was all over the place with trash and cigarette buds. I am a Gold Member and have traveled the world. This is by far the worse property I have stayed at.

    Left same day

    Saturday stay. Noisy in general with large groups in rooms..pool overcrowded even with supposed reservations needed due to COVID and music blasting. Restaurant and water park closed. We checked out and went home.

    Beautiful views and surroundings

    My family and I stayed at the Hilton Squaw Peak in June on our way to California. We liked it so much, we stopped again on our way back from California. While it’s not a super luxury resort, it has a certain old world charm and atmosphere absent in many modern hotels. The hotel is nestled in a quaint residential area and is surrounded by lovely mountain vistas. Great sunsets! There is a local Mexican restaurant next door with romantic patio seating that we loved. The pool complex is impressive, especially for kiddos. The wait time to get a simple soda was exhaustive , and they were clearly grossly understaffed at the pool snack bar. However, you just can’t beat the value here. Because of the favorable pricing and the pool destination, this place attracts heavy crowds. My one complaint is that the trash cans were all overflowing and the parking lots were littered and dirty.. lots of sloppy, unmannered guests but not the fault of the hotel. A few more maintenance workers might be needed. Overall, just a really neat place with a nostalgic flair... an older property but well preserved. We could be in the upscale, Scottsdale shopping and dining areas in 10 minutes. Very enjoyable!
