We enjoyed our family vacation at PH
We enjoyed our stay at Planet Hollywood. The experience was amazing and wonderful!! We received great service from all staff members, but there are a few who truly made our trip memorable. Ignacio, from the spa, was personable, attentive, friendly and professional. He displayed a warm demeanor, and his expertise set the tone for a relaxing experience and made it very easy to purchase a spa package. Not to mention, when he saw my family around the resort, he made sure to have a conversation and made us feel welcomed, felt like family or a friend. Oscar and JC (Notorious BIG ) from the grounds transportation team were friendly, funny, efficient and displayed A1 customer service. They made getting around the resort a breeze. Lastly, Yeilyn, our personal concierge, went above and beyond to ensure my family was taken care of throughout our stay. While we definitely enjoyed the resort, I want to point out a few things that could be improved. The check in process for Star Class guests was not what I expected. There were only two representatives working a long line with more than 10+ guests waiting to check in. It took much longer than expected. The website also mentioned early check in for Star Class guests, but upon arrival, we were told it only applied to the property, not the rooms, which was misleading. Also, I was not happy about the restaurant reservation process (for Star Class guests). When we arrived to the resort, all the restaurants were already fully booked, and we had to settle for late dining times during our stay. Additionally, we didn’t see much of a difference between the Star Class experience and what regular guests received, which was a bit concerning and confusing. For the amount of money paid, I was expecting more of a VIP experience. Despite those minor complaints, Planet Hollywood was clean and beautifully maintained. Hopefully, my feedback will improve the opportunities discovered from my experience.

Expectations Exceeded
We enjoyed our vacation immensely. The staff was professional, courteous and delivered service with a smile. Henry our Personal Agent Butler for Star Class was super. He ensured our wants and needs were met. The property is beautiful including the black sand beach. Loved the Cabana experience also.

Great time
We had a wonderful experience at Planet Hollywood, Costa Rica. We will definitely be visiting again in the future. I highly recommend the star class. Our room was conveniently located right outside the private pool, bar and food truck. So many restaurant options. Our Butler Justin was so accommodating and went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing experience.

Here's the honest scoop—some great parts, but also some real letdowns. Let’s start with the positives: the staff overall were super friendly, the hotel was consistently clean, and the property itself is really beautiful. I really liked our spacious room, and the private cabanas were a fantastic touch—having our own little space by the pool was a major highlight. And the massages on the beach? Incredible. We got multiple sessions because they were just that good—$40 for an hour, and totally worth it. Now for the not-so-great stuff. We paid to upgrade to Star Class, and honestly, it was a huge disappointment. Our assigned concierge, Steven, was the least helpful concierge we've ever had. From the start, things were rocky—our group arrived tired and hungry, so we kindly declined the tour and asked for food. Apparently, that rubbed him the wrong way because his attitude never improved the entire trip. He barely checked in with us, mostly just sent generic pre-written messages. Honestly, he seemed way more suited for a behind-the-scenes role than anything guest-facing—definitely not Star Class level. The room itself had some issues too—there was a mildew smell that came and went, and the A/C seemed to shut off on a timer every night, so I had to get up and reset it constantly. We flagged it to the front desk, but they weren’t much help. On top of that, we had an ant problem. I messaged Steven for assistance, and the response was confusing—one person said we had to be present for spraying, another said it was done while we were out. Either way, the ants stuck around. The pools were nice, but a heads-up: the depth markings seemed off. It said 4.4 ft, but it felt closer to 5 ft—so not the best for non-swimmers. A shallower option would’ve been nice. That said, the pool cabanas were amazing. Big shoutout to Josh (with braces)—he was an absolute rockstar! Super attentive, friendly, and always on top of things. We tipped him $100 because he genuinely made our experience so much better. Honestly, he should be a Star Class Concierge. Food-wise… not great. I’ve been to plenty of resorts and I understand not every meal will be gourmet, but this was a letdown. Most of our dinner reservations were at 9PM, and with the restaurants closing at 10, the staff clearly didn’t want to be bothered. Service felt rushed, and the food was well below average—even for someone who isn’t picky. Thankfully, we were traveling as a group of 10, so the fun came from spending time together. Toward the end of the trip, some of the leadership stepped up. Major thanks to Christian (I believe he was a restaurant captain) who pulled together a lovely dinner for us on our last night. Our server that evening was fantastic too. Steven, meanwhile, walked right past us and didn’t even acknowledge us. Other standouts worth mentioning: Dylan at Tex Mex was super friendly. Katherine from the entertainment team had us cracking up when she stopped by our table. Freddy in the buffet was great. The young guy at the front desk (wish I remembered his name) was helpful. And all the shuttle drivers were fun and got us around quickly—even if they drove like it was a race! One last issue—Steven never removed a $500 charge for a romantic dinner we didn’t attend. At checkout, they tried to bill me for it, but thankfully Christian stepped in again and resolved it. Seriously, Christian saved the day more than once. All in all, we made the best of it and had a great time together as a group—but I won’t be returning to Planet Hollywood Costa Rica.
