Nice relaxing holiday, lots of restaurant choice, well worth upgrading to Star Class but spoiled by attempted theft.
Room Pros: we had a Star Class room located in building 24 which was perfectly located next to the Star Class Pool but far enough from the main to not be disturbed too much by the main pool activity noise. Cons: our room wasn’t cleaned on two occasions, on multiple occasions we had to order extra towels and someone tried to break into one of our locked suitcases that was inside the wardrobe. Restaurants Pros: food was really good in all the restaurants with really large portions, our favourites being the Japanese and Steakhouse. Cons: service was hit and miss in the restaurants. Sometimes we would get bread before our meal other times not, sometimes we would get the right drinks other times not. On occasion we waited a while for our food and we had to chase before it finally arrived. Star Class Butler: we were a bit dubious about having a butler but Henry (aka Harry Potter) was perfect as he was around if we needed him, but stayed away when we didn’t. He booked all our restaurant bookings at the times we wanted for the whole of our stay alternating the 4 restaurants 3 times and he also provided us with a booklet with all the different trips we could do and booked the trip for us once we had decided. Henry went the extra mile organising surprise balloons and chocolate strawberries for our anniversary and even managed to source some pliers and cable ties when we needed them. Star Class Pool: was really nice, perfect for sunbathing, swimming and much quieter than the main pool where all the activities took place. The service received here by Yeraly was exceptional. Everyday he greeted us with a smile and a wave whilst carrying our towels ready to make up our sun loungers with two towels on the bed and one as a pillow! One morning we came down a little later than normal and our sun loungers were ready and waiting for us with towels. Yeraly would also quite often change our wet towels for dry ones when we were in the pool. The service on his days off was notably different and we had to get our own towels. Star Class Pool Bar: much easier to get a drink here than other bars and they had premium spirits our favourite being grey goose which is something we have never got in any other all inclusive resort we have stayed in. The service received here from Jorge and Eduardo was exceptional. They would bring us water during the day round the pool without us asking and of an evening we didn’t need to order drinks as they knew what we wanted and had them poured and waiting for us just before we finished the drink we were drinking. WARNING: someone tried to break into one of our locked suitcases that was inside the wardrobe as well as rifling through empty suitcases. We reported to management and security filling in a report only for them to complete an investigation and tell us nothing even though only two members of staff entered our room in the time frame that we gave them. Very disappointing how the hotel deals with serious issues like this.

It was an "all inclusive" experience
My husband and I spend 4 nights at PH along with a bride, groom, their 4 adult children and another couple. Upon arriving they ran us through the usual "upgrade to star class" and all that which we declined the first day until we could get the lay of the land. Upon checking in I asked if they could use a different credit card than what I used to book the room 6 months prior, they said not a problem. Our room was great, no complaints. They came each day to tiddy up and replenish our 2 bottles of water. We booked appointents at the spa to have our hair and the brides make up done on the day of the wedding. The bride went down first, I was at the pool, she text me 45 minutes before I was to arrive and said it's not a blow out just an updo. I thought that was a little weird considering we were paying $185 for the appointment. I went to the spa to talk to them, they said they didn't do wash, that was a separate appointment for $85 more dollars. I let them know I didn't have time to wash my hair and make my appoitment so I asked to cancel. Before it was less than 4 hours before my appointment I had to pay 40% (really?!). So I did and then brought the bride, who was getting her hair done, a glass of champagne. They hadn't offered her anything. The wedding was perfect, the photographer they coordinated could have wrapped it up a little quicker but the bride was happy. We eventually did upgrade to Star Class for our last 2 days so we could have access to the "quiet" non party pool and additional breakfast dining. I wish I could say it was worth the $250 but it wasn't. They frequently ran out of white wine and prosecco at the pool. All the staff were friendly, not pushy. The food was typical for an all inclusive. I didn't find anything particularly spectacular but it did the job.

Worst resort. Bed bugs.
Had bed bugs. Supervisor was unaware of what bed bugs were. Manager of Supervisor's claimed he knew what bed bugs were, but said you cannot see them with the naked eye. Couldn't get any reservations to eat anywhere, could only eat at the buffet. Worst resort we have ever gone to.

Overall Good Resort for Family and Friends
Overall really great stay and good service. I wish the dinner reservations were a bit easier to make and more available times. Concierge service started to slow down towards end of stay, waited more than an hour for towels and conditioner. Just a few small problems, but the food at buffet and restaurants were amazing and Maria, Tamaran at buffet dining provided great service. And Alfonso at main lobby bar made the best drinks! Amazing black sand beach, peaceful and easily accessible.

Activities, location and pool are the best!
Beautiful location - and view of the bay is wonderful! It is a drive to Playa del Coco or Diamante Eco Park - but we found plenty to do at the resort! Workouts at the gym were excellent - Gaella (yoga) Erick (boot camp) and Jorge (abs/cardio) - THANK YOU for keeping my vacation weight gain to a minimum!! 😂 Do a cabana - totally worth the extra charge. We loved the steak house and Gusto for dinner - others were good, but not gourmet. For a change - do the TexMex for breakfast - ala carte and served hot. To note - lots of activities for kids and adults - and night life is abundant if you want it (music, entertainment, etc.) it is not a quiet place however- if you’re looking for peace/quiet, this may not be the place. We had a teenager with us and she loved it. But- best of all Jose- you are a Star!! He made all our dinner reservations for us the first day, and arranged transportation to/from El Coco. Always there for a question and assistance. Quick responses and very helpful!!
