AMAZING FAMILY VACATION
This was my family's second time visiting Paradisus Playa del Carmen and we can't wait to go back a third time. It was our family of 4 (2 kids ages 9 and 7) along with our great friends family of 4 who also have two young kids (10 and 7). We had the most marvelous time. First I have to mention by name our E-concierge Andrea Cucilisto. She contacted us personally prior to our visit and arranged all our dinners as requested at great times and for tables of all 8 of us to sit together! This was such a great start to our trip before we even arrived. Ana Cruz/Back office agent also was super helpful in having our two families have rooms near each other on the resort, planning spa trip for our wives and upgrading us to a swim up suite We have nothing but positives to say about the resort itself. Everyone we met was genuinely nice and friendly and smiled and extremely helpful. The pools were a lot of fun with lots of activities. The food at all the restaurants were excellent with our favorites being the Hibachi and Capella (Italian) I also have to give an extra special mention of our personal concierge, Tiara Garcia. She was absolutely amazing with assisting us planning activities, and planned special treasure hunts for both sets of kids and even gave them special going away gifts just to name a few things Both families can't wait to come back! Thanks for an amazing family vacation

I had an outstanding experience at the Paradisus Playa del Carmen - Riviera Maya! From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure every detail of my stay was perfect - especially Miriam Ortiz and Juan Antonio Delgadillo! They were not only professional and knowledgeable, but also warm, attentive, and genuinely eager to help. Whether it was arranging dinner reservations or organizing transportation, nothing was too much trouble. Their personalized approach made me feel truly cared for and added so much value to my trip. Highly recommend this concierge team – they made all the difference!

The facility is average and about what you would expect to have. A few issues with maintenance such as the bathroom door handle, and door lock in my room fell off. The biggest disappointment was the dining experience. We tried 5 diffident restaurant during our stay including the signature steak house - Sal. And none of them was good. In a couple of them, when we arrived at our reservation time, there was noone to greet guests at the front and we would have to stand there and wait for 15 mins. Overall, the trip was ok but for the price we paid, we expected a more premium experience which was not delivered. Will not come back nor recommend.

It’s Groundhog Day
Having visited Mexico several times and always enjoying the experience, I was deeply disappointed with my stay at Paradisus. By the third day, I was ready to leave. The underwhelming experience began at check-in. We were immediately upsold a $6,000 room upgrade, with no proper explanation of the resort’s amenities or layout. We didn’t receive the promised “complimentary vouchers,” nor were we given any kind of orientation—just vaguely pointed toward our room. Navigating the hotel was confusing, further complicated by a layered class system among guests. The room itself was mediocre at best. Traveling with a baby and a 7-year-old, we found the setup unsafe: the high beds over hard tile floors posed a genuine hazard. A cot we had requested wasn’t in the room when we arrived late at night. The drawers and bedding had a musty, moldy odor, and the duvets lacked covers, which felt unhygienic. Throughout the resort, we were constantly pressured to purchase add-ons—cabanas, coconuts, massages, photo shoots, lobster, steak, even a Melia membership. The upselling was relentless and exhausting. The hotel itself was dull. The same music, same games, and repetitive programming left little to enjoy. There was nowhere interesting to explore, and the beach was unusable due to a persistent foul odor that permeated the resort. The same staff members repeatedly pushed photoshoots and membership sales, and coatis regularly rummaged through the trash—one even jumped on my baby while she was napping. The pool areas, especially the family pool, were chaotic. Shade was scarce—an essential need when traveling with small children. Instead of addressing the issue, the resort deployed aggressive security staff who policed the area. Guests sitting poolside before 7 a.m. were photographed, and belongings were removed if left unattended, even briefly. This heavy-handed approach felt unnecessarily hostile. We raised our concerns multiple times, and although a few extra umbrellas were brought out on one occasion, they were inexplicably taken away within minutes. If you have them—use them. Cabanas, which offer much-needed shade, were only available at an extra cost, limiting options for families who didn’t want to pay more just to stay comfortable. It’s a simple problem with a straightforward solution that the resort seems unwilling to implement. Service was inconsistent. While a few staff members were kind and accommodating, many were indifferent or unhelpful. The food was average—far below the standard I’ve come to expect from other resorts in Mexico. There is a clear class divide among guests. Those with “Family Concierge” status were prioritized in almost every aspect. Although we were told the resort wasn’t fully booked, our request for a late checkout was denied. Yet, other guests managed to secure rooms simply by offering a cash tip—highlighting the inconsistent and unfair treatment. The overall upkeep of the resort was disappointing. Ant infestations were visible around the pool, and the sheer number of coatis roaming freely raised serious hygiene concerns. Evening entertainment was repetitive and uninspired—difficult to sit through and repeated weekly without variation. The only notable positive was the convenience of the room key wristbands. Beyond that, there’s little good to say. Needless to say, we won’t be returning.
