Ramon at the Beach!
Ramon at the beach made my stay extra special. He looked after me and my friend, provided a cabana, and even moved my lounge chair and belongings to a better spot at the front of the water without me having to ask. When I saw him around the resort he always came over to see me and ask when I was coming to the beach and to come see him when I do. I even got a hug when it was time for me to go home. Also special shout out Luis in the restaurants for helping out big group with special dinners in a private room for several nights. Ramon and Luis made us feel like family.

Don’t come here if you value you possessions or your sanity
This was one of the worst travel experiences I’ve ever had. My family and I stayed at Paradisus Palma Real, and the trip was full of issues that the resort completely failed to take seriously. It was honestly shocking how little they seemed to care about guest safety. The housekeeping staff stole my father’s wallet from our room, the resort brushed it off like it was no big deal. And told us we should have secured it better (mind you, it was in our locked resort room) Their official response to my complaints was careless and full of errors . The persistent (to the point where I had to leave the beach area) solicitors on the beach completely ruined the experience. This was our first time in the Dominican Republic, and it left such a bad taste that we won’t be coming back EVER. Between the lack of accountability, the ignored complaints, and the overall poor treatment, I can’t recommend this place to anyone.

Despite its potential, the stay didn’t meet expectations - I wouldn't recommend it.
We were really looking forward to our stay as we were celebrating a family birthday and chose this hotel based on its amenities and positive reputation. As a well-traveled (80+ countries), adult family (age 44+) who enjoys staying active, we were especially excited about the tennis courts and included water activities. Unfortunately, upon arrival we learned that all the tennis courts were under construction and unavailable for the entirety of our 7-day stay. It would have been helpful to know this in advance, as tennis was one of the main reasons we selected this property. The water activities, while technically included, were located at a nearby sister hotel—not on the property as we had expected. This was an acceptable alternative, though worth noting for future guests. The beach had quite a bit of seaweed during our stay, and the swimming area was limited due to buoys placed for safety, as there was significant boat traffic just beyond the designated swim zone. That said, the hotel grounds were beautiful, the property was well-maintained, and the service overall was warm and welcoming. Staff were friendly, concierge was incredibly helpful and the hotel was clean and inviting throughout our stay. As a business consultant, I could write a book, but I wasn't expecting perfection - but what's fair for a hotel of this caliber. There are a few other areas where we felt the experience could be improved. While there are “no smoking” signs posted throughout the property, enforcement seemed inconsistent. Guests were frequently smoking in common areas, including at the swim-up bar and right next to non-smoking guests. When we brought it up to staff, they appeared unaware of the policy or unsure of how to address it. Similarly, the adult-only areas were not consistently monitored, which affected the experience for those seeking a quieter atmosphere. The pool itself, while large and visually impressive, was another point of concern. The depth was uniformly around 4.5 to 4.75 feet—even at the steps—which made it difficult to relax or wade comfortably, especially for shorter guests. There was no shallow area aside from a small baby pool and the bar stools at the swim-up bar, which was surprising given that the pools accommodate children as well. One of the more disappointing aspects of our stay was the food. While we understand the challenges of maintaining high standards at an all-inclusive resort, we found the buffet options to be lukewarm at best—even during peak dinner hours around 6:30 p.m. Some items, particularly fish and meat, lacked the warmth and freshness we’d expect. Most of the meats were tough - probably due to keeping them warm over a long period of time without turnover, but when items like fish are to be kept cold, and the plate they're on is room temp - that's a huge safety concern and something that wouldn't be acceptable in the US. The breads also tended to be stale, likely due to humidity and low turnover, which may have been affected by the low occupancy during our visit (less than 50%). Overall, while the property and staff had many positive qualities, there were several missed expectations and inconsistencies that impacted our overall experience. We truly wanted to love our stay, and with a few adjustments, this could be a fantastic destination.
