Had a great vacation at Paradisus Palma Real 🌴☀️ - Everyone at the beach is super attentive and you’ll never be without a drink in your hand! Gabriel and Rahul are the best servers (!!) and always made sure we had a cold drink to enjoy. - Our butler Nathanael was very helpful in sorting out any issues and making reservations. He also helped organize a very sweet Valentine’s Day with champagne and chocolate covered strawberries in the room. - The restaurants are always delicious - the baked cheese from Aqua is to die for. - All the performers and dancers are incredibly talented. They are so much fun and really get the party started 🕺 - Had the best massage of my life at the Yhi spa. Can’t wait to come back next year!
Our group stayed at the Paradisus Palma Real for a March break family reunion. We were some of the last guest at the hotel durning the Covid-19 Pandemic. The hotel did such an amazing job durning a stressful time. Everyone was cleaning all the time. The services were excellent , the staff did an outstanding job taking care of us. We only got to enjoy one a la carte ( the Japanese ) as they had to close to enforce social distancing. The rest of the stay we ate at the buffet and it was so good ! As every day passed more tourists left but the buffet was still an excellent choice with so many options considering how many guests were at the resort. All the staff were so good and although we were aware that they would all be out of work once the hotel shut down you could not tell. They were all professional and kept smiling through it all and did not give a hint of what they must have been going through. I regret not taking their name as they all deserve recognition. Maicol from buffet was our main waiter most days. Always pleasant and willing to help. All the bartenders were fantastic. The ladies that cleaned our rooms were sweet and did such a great job. Juanily helped when we arrived and also on our departure. He always had a great smile and always there to assist. The grounds are well maintained, the resort is very clean. Perfect beach ! The rooms are nice and the beds are super comfortable. We would love to return here! Thank you Paradisus Palma Real !!
Edison Abaulauo - Lobby bar - not sure if that’s how you spell his name. It’s in the picture I took. Best bartender ever, makes great drinks, and great jokes he seemed popular with the other vacationers also. One of the best weeks in my life.
IMHO, the best option in the Melia options in DR
This review is long due for a trip made a while back. We are a vegetarian family and have stayed at Paradisus in Mexico - Cancun and PDC. Had great past experiences with Paradisus. DR resorts are not like Cancun - we kinda expected that before going. The grounds and the property is nice, the overall experience, not so much. The dollar goes much further in Mexico than in DR. If you are unsure of the different Melia resorts in DR, Palma Real is the overall best. Pros 1. Beautifully landscaped - Gabi beach is your own slice of Paradise 2. Chef Rajinder Singh would cook up special Indian vegetarian food - not on the buffet 3. Vladimir was friendly and courteous 4. Francisco and a few waiters at Naos were nice, the rest - not so much 5. Visited all of the Melia resorts, Palma Real was probably the best - including food 6. The Otium Tour onsite are the BEST customer service experience 7. Decent night activities & beach activities Cons 1. BIGGEST CON - Rooms which have 2 double beds are extremely uncomfortable - not designed for a family. No possibility of an upgrade. Even Holiday Inn at Queens, NYC had a big room with 2 plush queen beds & nice pillows. All rooms have musty odor (like several other reviewers say) and need the vent fan running to remove it. Bathrooms have no privacy with glass doors - really awkward for a family. 2. Not once did anyone ask for drinks near the pool or beach - no royal treatment like Mexico. 3. Booking restaurants is painful - they need to get their act straight. There is a long line and not worth the time waiting on vacation. Vento was not worth it. Aqua @ The Reserve was the only winner - hands down. 4. Watered down cocktails, stick to scotch. 5. Paid extra to book through Melia for $1000 in resort credits. The credits are JUNK, and can't be used - unlike Paradisus in Mexico 6. The Indian Chef is working without authentic ingredients, please get him Indian chilli and other basic ingredients to make some real food. Sriracha is not Indian. The Indian station has the longest lines, with folks fighting over naan's -- it should give the management some clues. 7. Nothing much to see in town Overall, I wouldn't have high expectations of a 5 star resort with luxury treatment.
Terrible Experience with coronavirus
Came here for my 5th reunion of our honeymoon. The resort shut down and we did not receive the service we paid for. Restaurants weren't open most nights, they stopped serving alcohol, and guests were not allowed to lay by the pool. I understand the precautions and the Dominican Republic shutting their borders. My review is based upon the fact that they refused to offer us a refund for the days we paid for. They offered a voucher for one year from when we booked. Well we booked three months ago and are planning to have children. Can't travel with an infant. They have refused to be understanding and offer us a refund. Never again will I travel to this family of resorts for their behavior. Sad because I've had a great time at this resort for my honeymoon and love the staff. I will be proceeding in small claims court against this resort. I would strongly encourage that no one prepay for their booking as the hotel will outright steal your money if their is an extenuating circumstance.
