    Exceptional family vacation!

Our family of 5 had a wonderful experience. We enjoyed everything Paradisus had to offer, from the swim up bars, restaurants & spa to the included excursion to cenotes. Staff was great & we’ll be back

    Enjoyable vacay

Overall my crew of 2 adults, 1 seven year old, and one 5 year old had a good time at Meliá PDC! Here is the rundown of what we liked, what was okay, and what we didn’t like. + (great) The room was comfy, spacious, and well appointed. The sofa bed is actually pretty comfortable for what it is and the main bed was great. We had a master one bedroom suite and it was plenty big for four people. We also enjoyed the room service. Kids club (Kidsdom)—the highlight of the trip really, for all of us. You can drop your kids off anytime from 9a-945p except when they close from 5-6pm. They have a nice variety of indoor and outdoor activities including a pirate ship pool party midday and sandcastle building outside, and gagaball, face painting, and bracelet making. Both kids give it an A+. Commitment to green We liked the lack of plastic lids/straws, recyclable cups, glass bottles; and key card bracelets, which clearly showed the resort’s commitment to cutting down waste. Pools/water parks The pools are all excellent and well maintained, as is the water park with all of the various water slides. Drink and food service at all of these is fast, friendly, and efficient. Senote excursion—this was included with the Nikté package and in my opinion is the only real reason to get Nikté (not sure what the extra charge was). It was super fun getting to swim in a cave, zip line, and snorkel. Also was our only opportunity to break away from the resort. Mole, Blue Agave, La Palapa (reserve/adult side) and Lunch Box restaurants: these were the standouts for my crew which makes sense since they all have a lot of Mexican dishes on the menu and we are in Mexico! Agua Marina (seafood buffet) and Cappella were also pretty good — maybe a notch down from the first three but still in the plus column. O (okay) The beach: the beach is fine, not anything spectacular when I compare it to some of the prettier beaches I’ve been to (doesn’t hold a candle to the Seychelles or Sugar Beach in St Lucia which is probably my top two). The resort is certainly diligent about removing all of the seaweed that washes up. Concierge service—this was a bit confused and we weren’t assigned a concierge for a few days, which meant I spent about 90 minutes our first day to entro the kids in kids club and make most of my dinner reservations. Overall, it was nice to have but not essential and would have made a lot more sense to be matched with a concierge earlier in the trip. Liquor/beer selection: these were both pretty decent, beer included dos equis and tecate and highlights from the liquor included Johnny walker black. I am not usually a hard liquor drinker but because of how awful the wine was I switched to drinking beer and mixed drinks by the 3rd day. - (bad) Wine: my wife and I are mostly wine drinkers and the wine offerings that were included were mostly terrible and bottom of the barrel. The Sauvignon blanc was the only one that was drinkable albeit below average. The rosé tasted like cough syrup, the sparkling wine was a sugar bomb, and the reds were a notch below two buck chuck. We don’t need dom perignon but a resort that markets itself as 5* should have some decent midrange wine offerings like they did for the beer and liquor. For one meal we decided to buy a bottle from the upgrade list, a Cune Verdejo that retails for $9, for which the restaurant charged us $61. It was pretty good but we shouldn’t have had to pay such an exorbitant price to get a decent bottle of wine with my meal. The wine store had a similar markup for wine making buying from them expensive and impractical. Sal and Bana restaurants: Sal is not worth the up charge. The NY strip steak was cooked fine but no better than I could do at home. The sides, especially the boiled brussel sprouts and bread, were disappointments. Bana was also one of the weaker restaurants of the trip. The sushi rolls were bland and unimaginative and it is also a frenetic atmosphere to be able to enjoy dinner. App: the app is clunky and having traveled with a spouse with dietary restrictions, it would have been nice to be able to pull up restaurant menus without having to scan the in-restaurant QR code. Overall we had a hood time. For our group, the resort was missing that extra something to push it to the 5 star level but I would still recommend it to families with small kids, and others looking for a relaxing vacation.

    Carmen V

We have visited this property 4 times and in typical fashion they do not dissapoint. The property is beautiful , the staff is always so attentive a pleasure. The Nikte expierience is worth every penny for a complete luxury experience. I highly recomend this resort for Adults only and Family because they offer both .

    Dinner at Mole was amazing

Neumi and Denice were excellent servers at the restaurant Mole. They were so attentive to our large party and dietary needs. The mariachi band was an extra surprise. They made amazing recommendations and continued to bring us drinks after we were done eating.

    Amazing dinner at Mole!

Our very large family enjoyed an amazing dinner at Mole this evening. The hostess graciously seated us at tables near each other and our servers Noemi and Denis were incredible. Their recommendations were perfect for our gluten free family and everything they brought out far exceeded our expectations. The mariachi entertainment was the cherry on top - we could not have asked for better service or experience all the way around!
