    An OK cheap family resort, great for covid deniers and mask resisters

    The property is fine. Rooms are relatively small and basic, but clean and comfortable, about a three-star level. Facilities are average for a family resort, with plenty of swimming pools. Note that some of the more expensive rooms are sold as beach-side, but the rooms actually face a bay lagoon with a public beach. Difficulties in the experience: * ZERO mask wearing and social distancing enforced unless indoors. It's as if the people coming here have completely solved covid. I was always nervous when outside with the inconsiderate, and unmanaged, covid deniers. * Our check-in happened three hours after we showed up. We were there an hour early (3 pm) per their instructions and eventually checked in at 6. This wasn't "we're spending extra time cleaning your room," it was a screw-up in prepping our room. * Front desk placed a $350 charge on our bill for "marine activities" and gave us flack for telling them to remove it. DO NOT check out remotely! They don't slip the invoice under your door nor make the invoice available electronically. Nor do any of the restaurants or stores check your room number or room key even though they are RFID. We could have charged everything to a different room, and someone obviously tried to do that to us. * Restaurants are average at best and resort-priced. Would strongly urge eating in SD proper, but who wants to drive off the reort after paying for the resort? Their high-end restaurant Tidal was particularly disappointing. * Refrigerators are tiny, and they won't bring you any cutlery or bowls/plates, so if you bring some food with you be sure to bring your own utensils. We're probably not returning.

    Not a great experience

    On the day of arrival and upon walking around in our room after pool time and then showering, our feet were dirty (black)which didn’t leave us feeling secure about the cleanliness of the rest of the room. Called twice and on both occasions gave windows of hours we would be gone from the room 11-1pm on Thursday then again during dinner from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. No one ever came to mop. Pools over crowded with no chairs to sit on and on our first day at capacity so had to walk to 3 pools before finding space. Barefoot Bar ran out of pizza on wed. evening at 7pm and the menu of offerings were already somewhat limited. (Not a huge deal but disappointing). No liners for the ice bucket in our room. Transient at small pool that took a full on bath in the bathroom sink for 20min in the bathroom. No one answered phone for security or the front desk and man bringing towels to the pool could not speak English. No one else was anywhere to be found. The biggest issue was the terrible issue with getting food. We are here with our Covid Bubble family of 7 (close friends who we have decided to see often for mental health)and Barefoot Bar could not seat us together at tables. After waiting 40 min to be seated (no call ahead or reservations accepted), They seated us closer to another family. Also-having to order take out food in person at Barefoot Bar (which means walking 6 min, wait in line to order and stay there until food is ready (another 15-20min) then walk back to pool or room. I understand that these are unprecedented times but, the cleanliness is of utmost importance and couldn’t the Barefoot Bar at least have call ahead ordering and call ahead to put your name down for a table? We spent SO much of our very needed get away waiting in line and waiting for food orders (on one occasion received the someone else’s breakfast order after returning to the room). Not a great experience to say the least.

    Very Surprised

    We are locals to San Diego and booked a night so the kids could play at the bay and have a change of scenery. check in was a bad dream the line was so long and took almost 40 min not to mention I was the 3rd person in line. everyone was complaining about something. I was pretty shocked when we drove through the resort at the occupancy of this property concerting covid and all. We have stayed at many resorts since reopening of hotels and this was the most people I have seen at a resort. Made me feel a little un easy. They did upgrade us for our anniversary which was very nice. The rooms are newly remodeled very clean and fresh looking. They for sure need to landscape the grass outside of the room is all dead and lots of little spears (those small pokies that get caught in your socks)the sand is awful they need to have it racked or have new sand brought to the beach. we stayed cross the way at the bahia last summer and there beach/bay area is much nicer. back to the covid guideline they rent out ever single room I maybe thought they would do every other room. we had people on both sides of us and seemed a little close while everyone was outside picnicking on the grass and beach.OUr tv didnt work the hole time we were there.. this was the thing that really made me upset because i have two small children that were asking for tv. they were trying to fix it. but for the kids being hyper after playing outside most of the day they would just not lay down and unwind with out the tv I personally fall asleep to noise of the tv so that was hard on me also at 9pm I called to speak to a manger she offered to move us which was not k for us we had buggie bards and a ton of gear. at about 10 we were so unconformable not to mention the people across the way there were having a rave in there room with loud tecno music we packed up and left. I did tell the manger and she did refund us and hoped we can come back. with all the amazing hotels in San Diego I will prob be marking this on off my list unless they can get it together!

    I got a thousand dollar room a night & was left in total disbelief at the customer service and room. I got a stained and dirty couch. Food stains clear as day. I called THREE times to ask them to come clean. When they finally did, they said the stain could not be removed!? DO YOU NOT DO ROOM INSPECTIONS? IS THIS FILTHY ROOM UP TO YOUR STANDARDS? Disgusting. The man offered a air mattress which he felt should be enough. You get what you pay for, but not here. Pay 1k for a motel 6 room. Terrible, will be the LAST TIME I EVER GIVE MY BUSINESS TO YOU. Your manager Roberto was so rude & seems to hate his life.

    Great family vacation

    Paradise Point is such a great place to have a family vacation... even with the Covid situation we had so much fun here... great Bayside rooms just steps away from the beach... lots of activities, fun pools, great food, & great employees !... everyone is so helpful & courteous especially the golf cart drivers Keith, Christopher & David ... Pat at reception was very helpful & everyone that works at Paradise were just very of the best things we did here was to have our own personal family S’more bonfires You will love spending time at this resort & you will feel like you are in Paradise !
