Great location, on the beach, lots of storage in rooms

We had previously eaten at Duke’s and stayed across the street, so we knew the next time we stayed in Waikiki we would stay here for the proximity and location of this hotel to the beach as well as restaurants. The area to pull your car into to unload is kind of small and tight. There is really nothing they can do as they are limited on space there, but just be aware that it isn’t optimal with the sidewalk and people crossing right there while there is a line of cars in the street waiting for the valet. Props to the valet folks as they are able to stay calm and try to organize the cars and people as much as possible. They try to move quick for everyone involved. They set you up with the valet service if you have a car. It is $45/day with in and out privileges. They unloaded our car and got us set up with bell services. Bell services employees were extremely friendly as well. The lobby is actually on the “second level” so you can take the escalator or elevator up to where the check in is. They were quite busy when we arrived but we didn’t have to wait too long to be helped. The check in employee who helped us seemed a little cold and unemotional which was kind of disappointing as we felt so welcomed at the front, but not during check in. It took a while for him to find us a room that was currently ready. We booked a city view room and our room actually had a tiny view of the ocean if you looked to the side so that was cool! He explained how the elevators worked and how the towel cards work. The elevator buttons are on the outside and you scan your card on the outside of the elevator and it is all automated when you get into the elevator. It is confusing at first, but after a day you understand. The towel cards are used at the pool attendant station to exchange for towels. Upon returning the towels you can exchange for new ones, or exchange for the cards again, you just have to return the cards upon check out. The room is quite spacious and has tons of storage which I appreciate. Others have mentioned that the rooms are in need of an upgrade, really just the carpet and doors need to be upgraded, the furniture and the rest of the bathroom was perfectly fine. You get reusable water bottles and a tote bag as part of your resort fee. Be sure to check the website to see what is included in your resort fee such as wifi and other discounts. They have cultural activities every day in the lobby. The schedule is posted in the lobby as well as online. They have a large variety of activities which are nice if you have the time. I only had the time to do the bamboo stamping activity. You make a bookmark with acrylic paint and bamboo stampers while also learning about the native culture of Hawaii. We used the bag as a beach tote although most shops require reusable shopping bags so you can use it for that as well. They have water bottle filling stations in the lobby level as well as the lower level where you access the beach. The two restaurants at the hotel, Duke’s and Hula grill, are both fantastic and both were constantly busy no matter the time of day when we walked by. They have fresh fish and ocean views. Our room was made up every day by housekeeping. They were so friendly and said aloha every time we passed them. They replenished everything in the room every time which was nice and generous. They even vacuumed once during the week as well. The pool seemed a little small for the size of the resort, but they also have more lounger chairs in the level below the pool by the beach to chill in as well. They also have a server going around here too if you need to order food or drinks, the servers were very friendly and not pushy at all. There is a laundry area here, Pai’s deli, some shops, and an acai bowl place here at the hotel as well. The blue note comedy club is here and although we never had time to go in, there was always a line to get in which is a good sign. Overall we enjoyed our stay at this hotel and appreciated the fact that it is located on the beach and in close walking distance to many main points and restaurants in Waikiki.

Great for a family stay with little kids

Outstanding service and amenities! Rooms are very nice, but make sure you ask for an East-Facing room if you are getting partial ocean view. We got a west facing window and it's LOUD due to the restaurant and hotel next door (air conditioning units or something). Otherwise very pleasant stay, great location, spacious rooms with nice balcony, great bathroom, water gets hot momentarily and the stream is very strong (to rinse off all that sand ha ha). Everything is very clean, staff is very helpful and friendly. Recommended for a family stay with little kids! Beach is just a step away, great restaurants on site (Duke's and Hula Grill).

    Will be back!

First time in Hawaii and staying at the Outrigger Beach resort. Wow what a fantastic holiday we've had. Great hotel and wonderful customer services. Also, amazing customer services from everyone but especially from Mikayla at front desk and Judy the house cleaner. Definitely will be back.

    Iconic Hotel

We enjoyed our recent stay, leading up to Thanksgiving. Staff are exceptional in all departments. Rooms are spacious and clean. Lots of daily activities and great boutique shops on lower lobby. We loved the Outrigger from our first time in Hawaii and our previous stay in 2013. The ambience is busy with a great vibe. Have stayed at other hotels since, due to Outrigger being booked out, so very happy to have booked the Outrigger this time through Luxury Escapes as this is always our preferred hotel.
