Don’t waste your money!
So disappointed in this hotel. We were not aware or notified that half of the hotel was under construction. The main pool and bar were closed, they only had one restaurant that was open and the spa was also closed. All I got for the inconvenience was a free alcoholic beverage that I was unable to even use. We planned this trip as our babymoon so all I wanted to do was relax and lay by the pool for a little welllll they ran out of pool chairs and since I’m 7 months , I really needed somewhere to sit. I went to ask if they had more and was told yes they did and would bring some down. An hour goes by, I go ask again and was told yet again they’re working on it. 45 minutes go by and I ask the front desk again and was told to ask the pool shop who I then tells me they have no idea ask the lobby. So after over 2 hours of waiting and walking around I finally find out, no they don’t have extra “sorry!” When I asked to speak with a manager, I was given a phone number. I called and left a voicemail but of course, never received a phone call back. How do you not help a visibly pregnant woman find a chair to sit in?! On top of all that, my husband had called ahead to order a Mother’s Day surprise fruit and chocolate spread for that Sunday… which they completely forgot about. Don’t waste your money!! Service and hotel are awful.

Don't let the reviews scare you off
I was nervous to stay here given the reviews and with the current construction I wouldn't have been happy to pay full price (not because of noise/dust, but because the restaurants/spa/bars/etc. are not all up and running!) but I got a nice 30% off deal through the Outrigger website and was happy with what we paid. I chose the oceanfront room knowing I'd get a good view (too many oceanview hotels only offer a glimpse of the water) but never imagined the incredible surprise we got - our room faced directly out to where the lights shine for the manta rays each night so it was like we had our our private manta observation deck! It was unreal! The room was comfy, clean and spacious; the staff were super friendly and helped quickly when our balcony was flooded after a storm, and we loved the morning yoga, mac nut lattes at holoholo market, and the easy self parking (it's really not a long walk). The beach pool was closed for renos but we enjoyed the courtyard pool very much, and the grounds were stunning to walk around in the morning an evening - keep a lookout for goats on the rocks! We were also able to walk to and from Keauhou Bay marina for our night snorkle with the mantas which was super convenient. KTA superstore and L&L BBQ are just down the road for quick eats and the location was perfect for visiting K'au, Kona coffee farms and to get to the airport. Can't wait to stay again when the renovations are complete!

Definitely avoid until renovations are complete
Yiiikes. Very dated hotel with small rooms and lots of extra fees. $25 a day to self park and you have to park in the far lot and then walk through the closer lot where the employees get to park to reach the hotel. Booked it via a Priceline mystery “deal” (non-refundable) and was told it was a 4-star hotel. Absolutely not worthy of that many stars as the spa, hot tub and most of the pool area were closed for renovations. Not a convenient location either, had to keep driving at least 15 minutes to get to Kona. Definitely recommend to stay somewhere else, as it was the only bad part of my trip to the Big Island.

The Perfect Anniversary
From the moment we entered the property, my breath was taken away. Everything was absolutely beautiful! The landscaping, decor, view. I was greeted with smiles, leis and other gifts. Our room was incredible! Decorative towels shaped into swans, our bed adorned with fresh flowers. A private balcony overlooking the bay topped it all off! The grounds were meticulously kept. We only got to eat at the Cafe a couple of times, but the food was delicious. And then the Luau! Despite it getting cut short by rain, it was an incredible experience. The food, dancing, atmosphere... all of it was the true native Hawaiian life! I do highly recommend snorkeling with the Manta Rays!! That was so spectacular! We were blessed to have 8 gentle giants swimming around us! Far enough from "downtown", but still close enough to venture out and explore. I would go back in a heart beat!

The hotel is having a major renovation ( needed ) and the majority of the hotel is closed , the noise / dust is in beara
The hotel is having a much needed renovation, which we were not told about The majority of the hotel is closed , the spa , pool , ect The noise and dust created by the works is unbearable , We have moved rooms once , they tried to call it an upgrade, but the room was identical but with an partial ocean view. This was only done after we complained to our travel agent, when we asked to change rooms at the time we were told that no other rooms available and they will cancel our booking. The options we have are to stay in the room or leave the complex if we cannot accept the noise. Paradise this is definitely not. I would highly recommend another complex from may 2023
