    The rudest staff I have ever come across

    Stayed there pre cruise for 6 days in a Garden View room. This was meant to be a 5 star and I would refute this the finishings in the room were very shoddy even the patio doors would not securely lock. The all inclusive mini bar was only filled once during our stay (not much they put in anyway) despite calling housekeeping it was never refilled. Drinks around the establishment were very weak and poor quality. Food was mediocre even in the speciality restaurants, WHICH if you wanted to visit you had to be up at 7am to stand in a queue to book for that night!!! so behind the times bookings should be able to be done on line in this day and age. My biggest complaint was the staff who were the rudest I have ever come across, customer comfort and service did not exist. The steak house was the worst the waiter actually removed my bothers starter while he was still eating it. I have stayed many places around the world and this had to be one of the worst hotels I have stayed in Staff need training on how to be respectful to customers and great them with a smile. This has put us off ever visiting the Dominican Republic again due to the lack of customer service we recieved.

    Dated & Dingy

    This was my first trip to the Dominican Republic and will most likely be my last. As an extended family, we travel together every summer. This trip was by far the most disappointing! The rooms are dated and dingy. The sliding glass door didn't work properly and had apparently been rigged (drilled holes) to work. The sheer curtains were in desperate need of cleaning. The sheets were dingy. We found two large gaps in the tile at the door (which I tripped over upon entering room 9206). The large gap under the door leaves a pathway for cockroaches to freely crawl into the room. The staff that checked us in our rooms did not have rooms ready but expected me to keep coming back and stand in already long lines to check to see if it was available (after 3 p.m.) The female bar staff at the swim up pool was rude at best. I watched for 4 days as she 'picked' which customers she wanted to serve over others who were sitting right in front of her. My husband tipped each time he ordered drinks. She literally 'threw' the tip on the counter as if she were offended. Ironically, those who she was electing to serve first did not tip her at all. I do not understand how a worker who relies on tips from tourists to make extra money could be so inhospitable. There was no air conditioning in the dining areas and bowling alley. It was hot and humid - not at all conducive for eating inside. The pancakes were cold and hard. The bread table in the center of the buffet area had flies all around/over it. There were flies on the fruit that was available at the buffet. The bacon was half cooked each morning. The only thing that was really tasty were the made to order omelets. The pool is pretty and very large but I question the upkeep/maintenance. At resorts we've visited previously, we see workers cleaning/sanitizing the chairs, washing down areas around the pool. I saw 2-3 guys cleaning the pool filters at 7:30 in the morning when the pool opens at 8:00 a.m. This "stirred" up all sorts of white debris. I saw the same lime slice and hair scrunchie for 3 days in the pool area - not to mention drink glasses/cups from the night before. If you plan on visiting the Dominican Republic, I would not at all recommend that you stay at Ocean Blue and Sand.

    Worst Resort Ever

    Nine guest stayed at Ocean lblue and Sand, it was the worst resort ever. 1. My niece booked 3 days prior to arrival with the resort she got a confirmation she arrived they said she had to pay again because they hadn’t received the money yet everything had gone through the money was taken out of her account. Long story short the next day they apologize because the money had come through. 2 Another guest in our group got a call that she had to check out after being here a day and a half, and she actually had three more days to be here after check with registration. They made some type of story that people had the same last name she has a last name as I doubt that someone else had the same last name. 3 another couple in group was checking out and they were told they had a $95 bill to pay because they had ordered lobster from the steakhouse. Long story short someone else with the same last name completely different. First name had ordered the lobster they wanted to for almost 2 hours with this couple. Actually, guest services had to get it straight for registration 4. We made reservations for the steakhouse we all ordered, medium rare. The steaks were so well done. We could not even eat them. 5 And worst of all We had three giant cockroaches in our room, and I had to demand an upgraded roomIt was an offer I had to demand. I would not recommend this hotel to know

    Perfectly Good for the Price.

    The resort was perfectly good for the price. I did have a fun and relaxing time with my friends. Transfer to the resort was smooth. It’s not too far from the airport. The reception when you first arrive is a bit chaotic but you get a welcome champagne when you arrive. The open air lobby is beautiful. (If you can book privilege - do it. It makes the check in process a bit easier. It is probably listed somewhere but I didn’t notice it but there are no elevators. We did have to switch rooms due to a/c issues. The first room was clean overall. The shower was a bit tricky because it was a tub with a half glass wall but the door stop was on the floor right where you step out of the shower. The A/C was leaking from the ceiling because it was running 24/7 but not cooling. They came to “fix” it four times. Then we had to insist on switching rooms because the first night we couldnt sleep in the 79 degree room. We even offered to pay for an upgraded room. The staff was less than helpful and seemed very annoyed with our request to switch rooms. Everyone involved with the switch was a bit curt and annoyed. The new room was very similar to the first room and the A/C worked great!!! Everything was clean and comfortable. The two Pools are great!!! The beach was beautiful!! The pool staff also great!!! The activities staff was also very accommodating and great! The food at the Italian restaurant was delicious. The Japanese Steak house was ok but I probably wouldn’t waste the time to go again. The buffet food was hot or miss. Some items were absolutely delicious and others were questionable. The grounds are also beautiful!! I am headed to Punta Cana again this summer and I’m going to try a different place. I’d come back here again but it would have to be priced right.

    My experience at Ocean Blue & Sand Punta Cana was far from satisfactory. The lack of air conditioning in the buffets and other dining venues made dining experiences uncomfortable and unenjoyable due to the oppressive heat. Additionally, the bathroom in our room was disappointing. The caulking around the fixtures appeared old and moldy, raising concerns about cleanliness and upkeep. To add to this, the water in the bathtub would not drain out properly. For a resort that markets itself as a premium destination, these conditions were unacceptable. The staff were frequently rude and unhelpful, further diminishing our experience. We sat and waited for drinks only to be overlooked time after time by the bartenders, who consistently served others who arrived after us. The inconsistency between the pool's actual operating hours and what was shown on the app added to the inconvenience and disappointment during our stay. Despite these issues, Mikes Cafe stood out positively with exceptional service and quality, deserving an A+ rating. Overall, due to the discomfort from the lack of air conditioning, poor bathroom conditions, and rude staff, I cannot recommend Ocean Blue & Sand Punta Cana for future visits.
