    Perfect summer holiday!!

The whole stay has been excellent from Day 1. From endless booze to unlimited all you can eat food. Never a dull moment because they also have entertainment at night! Staff are all friendly and you can ask anything from them !!!Would recommended it to friends and family and will definitely come back again.

    Not a Great Experience

Would not stay here again. Too much miscommunication and most of the staff were unfriendly and weren't on the same page when we asked them questions.

    WORST PLACE EVER

I rate this place zero. Worst place I've ever been to. Food was lousy, drinks had an afternoon taste, bathroom smelled like sewer water, only one bag of chips and peanuts provided daily, if you're lucky. Pool was filled with screaming kids. Line was crazy to make reservations for the restaurants that served lousy food. Best thing there was Armando the Bell Boy. He was very helpful and kind. He deserves a raise and a promotion. And he's also Bilingual, which is a big plus. Other than that, I'll NEVER visit that place again!

    19th VISIT !!

Yes, I have been to Occidental 19 times over the last 10 years. I am 67 years old and have traveled all over the Carribean and Mexico. Including 5 other resorts in and around Nuevo Vallarta. Occidental Nuevo Vallarta is by far my favoite, Here's why: 1. Very well managed, and organized resort. Yea Laura! 2. Best food of any resort I have stayed. Especially the buffett. Yea Felix! 3. Absolutely the best staff anywhere. Some have been here from the start GREAT! 4. Perfect size. Steps to pool and beach, not 1/2 mile walk. 5. Not a big party place, although you can if you wish, no "No Spring Break Vive" 6. "BANG FOR MY BUCKS" I feel that I get more for my money here than anywhere else in or around Puerto Vallarta. I Loved seeing my friends: Augustine, Carlos, Canero, Manuel, Julio, Daniel, and so many others, including new staff like Angel. I am already planning our next trip in October. I LOVE THIS PLACE!

Extremely disappointing – not worth the hassle or the price

Extremely disappointing – not worth the hassle or the price Our experience at Hotel Occidental Nuevo Vallarta has been nothing short of frustrating since the moment we arrived. Right off the bat, we were told we had to wear bracelets as room keys — and if lost, they charge you $100 each, even for kids. I have three small children, and despite asking that they not be forced to wear these, the staff insisted, making the check-in feel more like a negotiation than a welcome. The “all-inclusive” amenities come with a confusing mess of restrictions. The restaurant hours are inconvenient, especially if you’re actually out trying to enjoy your vacation. They have three “premium” restaurants, but you need to make reservations — and they stop taking them at 4pm, right when we were checking in. The next morning, we were told our whole party had to be present to book — a ridiculous and arbitrary rule. Then they claimed we had to stay more than two nights (again, something that was never mentioned before). After telling them we were staying two nights, they suddenly said everything is booked out for three days and one restaurant is closed. Breakfast was another letdown — we arrived an hour after it opened and the food was already cold. The overall quality of the food is poor, and the drinks are watered down and thrown together carelessly. We tried to grab lunch poolside but were turned away for being wet — despite being just outside the pool. There is no poolside food service, and their “rules” about what you can wear seem randomly enforced. My wife was denied entry for not wearing shorts over her bathing suit (even though it fully covered her), yet my daughter in the same style bottoms was allowed in. Lunch, once we finally got in, offered a tiny selection of cold food — again. I’ve been to other all-inclusives where poolside dining is part of the experience, where you can eat barefoot and wet, enjoying the vacation. Not here. Every attempt to relax felt like we were battling the resort’s inconsistent and unfriendly policies. To top it off, I had to call three times just to get housekeeping to bring fresh towels. The service is unresponsive and indifferent, and overall it just doesn’t feel like they want guests to enjoy themselves. We had originally planned to consider extending our stay — but after this experience, we absolutely will not. We’re checking out and finding somewhere else to enjoy the rest of our trip.
