Great Place to Stay
This was a great place to stay. On the Riverwalk and across the street from the Rivercenter mall. Great snack shop, bar and restaurant onsite. Would stay again. Beds were the best and the room was quiet.
Joe’s Crab Shack
Joe’s Crab Shack is great. I sat at the edge of the place and watched the world past me by as the sun beamed down on me. I loved it. Great food, view, staff. I’ll be back!!!! The river walk and the vibe is so cool.
Exemplary Service During an Emergency!!
It’s wonderful when everything goes well during a stay. But I saw first hand the level of dedication and expertise from the hotel manager, Carlos, the concierge, Carol, the hotel security officers and the phone operator when I suffered a blistering burn to the groin from a flimsy Starbucks coffee cup. They were absolutely wonderful and very knowledgeable about the immediate first-aid. They even helped me by making a fast trip to the drug store for special burn bandages! They literally did everything possible, and all with genuine compassion in their hearts!! I will never forget them!! As for the hotel, it was a lovely experience! We stayed in room 2707 and had windows on two sides. The view was mesmerizing at night as several of the downtown buildings light up. The room was spacious and comfortable. The thermostat/HVAC system kept the room temperature comfortable at all times. The lighting was perfect for sitting at the desk to read and write. There was a beautiful floor light that made the room feel homey. The light over the vanity worked nicely for makeup application. The TV was HUGE and made relaxation time in the room rather special. The shower was nicely outfitted with a rain shower head as well as a wand. The location on the Riverwalk is ideal! Just walk out the back door to one of the most beautiful areas of the river, only a few steps away from several places to eat and drink in establishments of all price ranges. And the mall foodcourt is also right there if traveling with kiddos and needing to watch the budget. The hotel manages security well, requiring card/key entry off the Riverwalk. And it was easy to spot hotel employees in all the right places. From the standpoint of attending a large convention, the coordination between the convention staff and the hotel staff was seamless. Check-in was very quick despite the large number of people. All the employees involved were helpful in keeping the process moving. Having attended many conventions over the years, it truly was impressive. I look forward to staying at this Marriott again in the future.
Excellent headquarters for San Antonio visit
The location is perfect. It is on the Riverwalk but not in the middle of the touristy brouhaha so escaping to some peace and quiet is possible. The first person who greeted me was Art at valet. He was most informative and had a great attitude. Made me feel welcomed from the start. The next interaction was Franny at the front desk. Her smile and sense of humor was refreshing after a day of dealing with air travel. All the employees I encountered went above and beyond to make sure my stay was perfect. The room was clean and Marriott has added easily accessible outlets: two on each side of the bed, the base of the desk lamps, etc. The bed had USB ports on both sides, too, but it wasn't until the morning I realized the ones on the side of the bed I used didn't work. The tub in the bathroom had been removed and replaced with a rectangular tiled shower with sliding glass doors. Although a bit dated, it was nice not to have to deal with a shower curtain. There is a restaurant located in the hotel I did not use and a convenience store/cafe that serves short order-ish food and snacks. It also sells wheel of fortune priced soft drinks, etc. I guess it would do in a pinch but with so many eating options just steps from the door it is hard for Marriott to compete. Parking was valet and expensive but there is a garage next door that was more reasonable. The elevator floor buttons are not located inside each car. One inputs their destination floor on a touch panel in the elevator lobby and the panel tells you which car will come to get you and even points an arrow toward the car. That took some getting used to. If you decide to make the journey I highly recommend the Marriott. Tell Franny I sent ya. She'll take good care of you.
Marriott Riverwalk - right on the river
My husband and daughter recently stayed at the Marriott Riverwalk hotel. We had a king size bed and pull-out couch with a balcony overlooking the river. Each night offered a lovely view of the river and colorful boats. This is a quieter part of the Riverwalk but the restaurants are just a short walk from the hotel. We enjoyed the pool on the 7th floor on the roof with a game room in the sunny atrium. The pool is shallow but my daughter still had fun. I enjoyed lounging in the many chairs inside and out. The Marriott Riverwalk was a nice place for our family get-away.
