Nice stay at Club Kona Coast
Enjoyable week at the Kona Coast resort. We found our unit to be spacious and well equipped. The grounds are very nice, with two pools and three hot tubs. The hot tubs could be a little warmer. The main pool was very clean which must be difficult given the usage and Im sure a lot of sunscreen going through the filters. The bar and restaurant onsite was fine, with friendly staff, particularly behind the bar. Our main issues were that despite paying for what appeared to be an upgraded room, we were in a back ground floor unit with a few of a grass berm. You could certainly hear people walking above you and we named our upstairs neighbors "The Walkers" as you could hear every step . Otherwise, great place, nice location with a well stocked grocery store walking distance away.

Bring a Can of Raid and Lysol!!!
We checked in on Monday, December 9th to Kona Coast Rsort in Kona.. When we entered the unit we did notice how dingy the rugs were, the tiles in the kitchen area were cracked, scuffed, and looked dirty, there were dust bunnies in the corners. The whole unit just looked tired and old. Ok we were willing to overlook that. We were tired. We brought our luggage in and went out for dinner. We came back unpacked and got ready for bed. Just before retiring I had to throw something out in the garbage can under the sink. I thought I saw "something" move but was not sure. The next morning, December 10th, I once again opened the cabinet under the sink, this is when I saw roaches both big and small running around. I immediately went to the Checkin office and informed them. They assured me they would have someone fumigate in that area. We left to get some groceries. Upon our return the fumigation guy was leaving and told us "yeah you have roaches there." When I went to the sink there were big roaches there and there were still baby ones running around under the sink. Once again I called the Checkin office and was told they would set traps. At this point I called our travel agent who literally begged us to request another room. We hesitated as we had a paid for excursion that we wanted to do. I did get a call from "management" who said "well when the golf course gets sprayed, the roaches come here." I told her that was an unacceptable answer. Then she said "it's the tropics." I informed her my husband and I live in the tropics year round and we do NOT have roaches. We pay for a regular fumigation service. Unfortunately we chose to stay. On December 11th, I went to use the toaster and roaches scurried out from under it. This was it!! I called our travel agent and afterwards received a call from the Checkin office that we would be moving to another unit. We had to repack and unpack AGAIN. The only reason I am giving this resort two stars is that the second unit appeared cleaner. We did have a notice that the resort was fumigating 3 whole buildings. As an Infection Control Registered Nurse I KNOW roaches come from filth and they carry diseases. I do not know anything about running a resort but I feel Kona Coast Rsorts need to do some very serious training with their housekeeping staff as to what constitutes a "clean" room and then do unannounced spot checks to make sure their staff adheres to cleaning properly. . As consumers and travelers we expect and pay for a certain standard of cleanliness in the units where we sleep and eat. My husband I have traveled extensively and have not experienced this situation. Both my husband and will not be returning to this resort. I also informed my travel agent to avoid sending her clients here. I do have to say that because our travel agent went to "war" for us we will be reimbursed for those two nights we spent in the roach infested unit. We will be taking measures to avoid bringing our luggage initially into our home until ALL our luggage and clothes are disinfected.

Infested with Cockroaches
Our room was infested with cockroaches! From the minute we walked into the condo and placed our Costco groceries on the counter they were covered in bugs by the time we walked down to the car and brought up our suitcases. Killed 30+ roaches in the first 10 minutes. We put all food inside the refrigerator and did not eat inside the condo. Every cupboard we opened had a roach crawling around. The insulation around the dishwasher must have had a nest because roaches were running in and out of the latch area and disappearing. Our kids were traumatized by 2” roaches in the bathroom. Went to office at 6:30am and we were told they would come spray the room. Saw fewer roaches after the spray but the condo was still crawling with them. Horrible experience! We did not eat inside. Kept all luggage zipped closed and couldn’t wait to leave the condo each day. Maybe we got a bad room. The furniture in the condo was nice but the bathrooms were filthy and old. The walls in our bathroom were bubbling from fresh water damage. I would absolutely never stay here again, even if it was free.

Beautiful, clean, friendly location
We really enjoyed our stay here. Live music at sunset each night, hula show, beautiful grounds and great service from the front desk. The location provides a fantastic view of the sunset over the golf course. A main pool and quiet pool provided relaxation depending on how you want to enjoy it. 3 hot tubs and a very relaxed vibe.

Great place to stay with a full condo.
Very nice condo. Lots of shopping and restaurants in the area. Their bar and restaurant is not that good and is expensive. The pool s nice. There is no access to the beach as the resort if surrounded by a golf course. You are not allowed to walk on the course.
