Great Weekend in Key Largo
Stayed at end of August with Family and we had a great time. The Hotel was great and the staff was friendly. Rooms here can go for $350 and up per night normally but we got a great rate thru TripAdvisor for the weekend. Room was very clean, updated, had a fridge and a coffee maker. Best part of the hotel was the awesome beach area and the pool is right next to the Beach. Pool has a bar with plenty of drinks and great food also. Very family friendly with plenty of kids enjoying the pool and the beach. There is also paddle boards, kayaks and jet ski rentals. Another great feature is their onsite restaurant and lots of dock areas to roam around on. We were very happy we tried this hotel and we will be staying here regularly.
Room was great, restaurants were awful
Most likely a staffing issue, but both restaurants acted as if they didn’t want customers. Breezes food (probably same as room service kitchen) was atrocious. Unfortunately, it’s also insanely overpriced. Pool was fun for kids, beach is nice, water sports are convenient and fun. Room itself was nice, although the kitchen supplies were sad (toaster might be the cheapest piece of equipment I’ve ever seen).
Parking and Cleanliness
Much as it pains me to write a bad review of a Marriott property, it is necessary to do so. On a recent stay at his property, despite the assertions of enhanced cleaning we find Bobby pins on the floor of the bathroom in plain view. Unfortunately didn’t notice till day before checkout. The main complaint though centers on the “$16.13 parking charge” for parking in an empty parking lot. Perhaps 3 other vehicles in the lot. Even more disappointing was the explanation from Debbie, that “we always charge for parking” because we also have security. Unfortunately I wasn’t charged for security, I was charged for parking in an empty parking lot at a hotel with a closed Concierge lounge and no stay over service for 3 nights. Having stayed at hundreds of Marriotts around the world, I find this to be unacceptable at a time when hotels are experiencing very low occupancy rates and should be leaning over backward to accommodate their guests.
Simply put.....terrible .
For the amount of money spent for a balcony room, I got the view of shrubs and cars. I understand the whole COVID thing but come on, you order a Bloody Mary and they don’t even have hot sauce to try and improve the taste of what was awful. Had breakfast at Guy’s, it was terrible . I could have done better at MCDonalds. Took over an hour to get a pot of coffee, and 4 danishes the size of a silver dollar($6), and a glass of tomato juice one morning for room service. Most hotels have bottled water in the rooms, this place, NO. I could go on and on.
We stayed here for 1 night while passing through Miami to Key West. It was so refreshing to see so many families there on vacation and was the first time I felt a sense of normalcy during this time. The rooms are a bit dated but it goes with the vibe of the hotel. The view of the ocean is great. The beach and pool area can get crowded so go early if you want a chair.
