Lovely beach, too many weddings.
We checked in on Thursday afternoon. The hotel was quiet. Being Platinum Elite with Marriott, we almost always get upgraded to a lovely room. Not this time. We were on the side of the building , 7th floor, with a slight view if the gulf. Then it got worse. Below us a wedding was setting up on the lawn. From then on, every time we were in our room, a wedding was being celebrated below us. Saturday night we returned from dinner at 9pm to pounding, deafeningly loud, obnoxious music. We called and were told it would not end until 10pm. We asked to be moved to the other side of the hotel. We were told they were “full”. Unacceptable. We went down to the front desk and requested the move again and were immediately accommodated! Yay (you would think). We packed up all our things, waited 20 minutes for the requested luggage cart & bellman, then grabbed all our luggage ourselves and moved to the new room. But wait, ANOTHER wedding was being celebrated below us in that part of the hotel. We love weddings, but the volume of the music seemed excessive and unnecessary. This hotel needs to decide if they are in the wedding business or the vacation guest business. We stayed 4 nights and saw at least 10 weddings take place. Now let’s talk about breakfast, which is included for Platinum Elite. This was a continental buffet with a cold section and a hot section. Only cold was “included”. I’m fine with a simple breakfast. It’s usually my preference. But really, you couldn’t include some bacon or precooked scrambled eggs for your most loyal customers? I would like to say that the service at breakfast was impeccable and friendly. In closing, I am almost never critical. I never write unfavorable reviews. I am just shocked by this hotel’s total disregard for some guests over others. We won’t be back.
Much needed vacation in a beautiful 4.5 star resort!
You will be hard pressed to fine better overall facilities with nice pools, good restaurants, a great Tiki bar with proximity to a beautiful, not too busy beach. However, what keeps it from being a 5-star is the overall service, and attention to detail. Overall service was good however, we sat at 2 restaurants for 20 or so minutes before getting served. Minor things but indicative to a 5 star is the attention to detail....most clocks are not set with the correct time, the fitness center doesn't look like it has had a lot of attention for several months, not a lot of options for breakfast other than a cafe with 20 people in line, or restaurants charging $25 for a 2-egg breakfast and as expected, high prices for pool food or drinks. But again, all and all a great vacation with great people, in a very nice resort.
The JW Marriott in Marco Island, FL is the best quality and best run buffet of any hotel I have ever stayed at. We have been coming here to celebrate Thanksgiving for the last (5) years and the servers always recognize our family and go out of their way to make us feel like valued patrons of the hotel. Dolly, Ahmed and Natalia are absolutely phenomenal and make us feel like we are part of the Marriott family when we are here for the holiday. Great job and thanks for all that you do to make our stay more enjoyable. Sincerely, Adams Family
Disappointed the handling of pandemic
This is our second time back. Very disappointed how they were handling the masks covering and social distancing. Lots people indoor no face covering, hotel didn't impose the rule. Tiki pool side chairs were so dirty, full of dirty stain and pieces food. It was half empty, we could not even find a clean chair. No one comes out clean regularly. Disney resort were doing a much better job. So did Ritz-Carlton. Ario food was amazing!! Outdoor sitting was comfortable, they sat people apart. Good service. Lobby sushi restaurant very good quality of food as well!
Disappointed in Sirene
We visited the JW Marriot for a short vacation. We booked a room in the Sirene level, advertised as adults only with upgraded service. Our room was modern and clean with no issues. The resort itself was not totally open (understandable during this time). The Sirene restaurant, Tesoro, usually open for breakfast, was closed in the morning. We received the breakfast buffet in Maia, their main morning restaurant. The food was varied and good. Lunch at the beach grill was also fine. The Sirene pool had very attentive pool services people. Now the bad. Lunch at the Sirene pool was awful. For example, a pizza was delivered as a cold and soggy mess. The hummus and grilled (?) naan platter had cold pieces of naan. The gentleman who served us was unfriendly and cold. We tried to dine at Tesoro (the Sirene restaurant) for dinner. Outside dining area was packed, no problem. We went inside to eat and were ignored (along with other potential diners) by several people working there. Maybe indoor dining was not open, but there were no signs (or people) to tell us this. Not an upgraded level of service to say the least. The good. Ario steak house was wonderful. Kudos to our server Enzo, who's attentiveness added to the great food. All in all, our visit was just OK. It was nice to be in an adults only section. Unfortunately, the Sirene food experience was inadequate.
