Isla Mujeres Paradise: A 5-Diamond Birthday Escape with Heart

Isla Mujeres stole my heart for my recent birthday trip, and a big part of that magic was the incredible staff at Impression Isla Mujeres. This 5-diamond gem wasn't just about the magnificent views (which were incredible!), but about the incredible people who truly made the experience unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, every single employee we encountered went above and beyond. Despite any language barriers, they made eye contact, greeted us warmly, and genuinely seemed invested in making our stay amazing. It felt like everyone at the resort was happy to be there, and their enthusiasm was contagious! Here's what truly elevated our stay: The resort sparkled. The staff worked tirelessly to ensure everything was spotless, and no mess ever lingered. The ocean view from our room was postcard-perfect. From fire dancers to a smooth saxophone player and a lively salsa band, the resort kept the evenings exciting. Check-in in our room was a luxurious touch, and the property tour upon arrival helped us get settled quickly. The staff's attentiveness to detail was impressive – they even remembered our names! The resort fostered a sense of well-being, with a clean gym, on-site events, and an eco-friendly approach. The provided yoga mat in the room was a perfect way to start the day. Communication via WhatsApp was a breeze, making it easy to connect with the staff for any needs. Having a private boat whisk us to and from the island added a touch of luxury. A few minor improvements could take this resort from exceptional to flawless: Event Schedule Consistency: The event schedules on the digital board, tablet, and paper sometimes conflicted. An app like the Hyatt app (which we discovered too late!) could streamline communication. Water Replenishment: While minor, refilling the in-room water took a few reminders initially. Thankfully, this was rectified later in our stay. Limited Off-Island Excursions: Being on a beautiful island comes with the downside of limited access to mainland excursions. But what truly made this trip unforgettable were the amazing staff members who went above and beyond to create a magical experience. Here are just a few of the all-stars who left a lasting impression: Julio aka tiburón (bartender): Julio kept the drinks and fun flowing with his energetic personality, attentiveness, and delicious mocktails (especially the mango and tamarind smoothies!). Abraham aka AB (event director): AB's bright light shone through in every HIIT aqua session, sound healing meditation, Huichol art workshop, and Mexican flavors workshop we attended. He even took pictures to capture the memories! His sound healing meditation workshop was a particular highlight. Chef Griselda: Chef Griselda's passion for Mexican cuisine was contagious! In the Mexican flavors workshop, she expertly guided us in creating chili relleno, educating us on ingredients and offering tips for recreating the dish at home. Pablo (event director): Pablo's patience and enthusiasm made the dream catcher and paint your soul workshops a joy. He truly went the extra mile for my birthday, surprising me with a special dessert and singing Happy Birthday during the dream catcher workshop! His genuine warmth and knowledge were a delight. Jennifer & Angel (butlers): Jennifer's welcoming presence greeted us upon arrival, and her dedication extended to trying to arrange a perfect Chichén Itzá excursion (despite the island's limitations). She also made all our island reservations a breeze. Angel took over seamlessly when Jennifer was off, ensuring our every need was met, including our extra water requests. Jose Salvador (Marina butler/welcome butler): Jose ensured a smooth arrival despite challenging weather conditions, helping us get on another ferry boat and to the hotel by taxi, all prepaid for our convenience. He continued to greet us warmly throughout our stay, offering friendly conversation. Enrique (waiter): It was a delightful surprise to be recognized by Enrique, who had served us at Zoëtry in Puerto Morelos two years prior! His consistent positive attitude and attentiveness made our dining experiences even more enjoyable. Shoutouts to the following staff members who also impressed us: Daniel and Emannuel (bartenders) Edgar and Jose (waiters) Israel and Vitalino (teppanyaki chefs) DJ Fernando (noon vibes) Samantha (hostess) Freddy (waiter) And let's not forget the food! Every meal was a culinary delight. From fine dining breakfasts to delicious lunches and unforgettable dinners, the resort's chefs impressed us at every turn. Thank you for the amazing experience!

    The Nicest Resort in Mexico

This place was by far the nicest resort we've stayed in Mexico, and we've stayed at six other resorts over the years. It did not disappoint and exceeded our expectations. That said, sometimes the weather doesn't cooperate, and we couldn't take the private boat transfer because of it, so we had to take the ferry to the hotel. If the weather is poor, someone from the hotel will meet you at the ferry dock with tickets, and when you arrive at Isla Mujeres, they'll arrange a taxi to take you to the hotel. However, once we got to the hotel, it was amazing from the moment we walked in. We were greeted by our amazing butler, Martin, and his colleague, Eric, who took care of us the entire time. I'd highly recommend the Ocean Front room since it faces west towards the sunset, unlike the Ocean View rooms that only face east overlooking the Island and the local’s backyards—it's just not the same experience. Our Ocean Front room was absolutely gorgeous, with our very own hot tub, not just a jacuzzi, which we prefer, and was perfect for unwinding at the end of the day before getting ready for dinner. The pools were amazing, but we spent nearly all our time at the beach. There is a beach along with beds and lounge chairs on the docks; they were extremely comfortable and never felt overcrowded. The service was some of the best we've ever had. They always walked around asking if we needed anything and we never had to chase anyone down. The food everywhere was incredible, as were the drinks. We had some of the best mojitos we've had, but they'll make you anything you can think of, and every drink was good. And they have an onsite mixologist who can craft amazing drinks. There are a lot of stairs to get down to the beach because it's on a cliff, but it didn't bother us. It felt good to get a bit of exercise, although there's also a more gradual ramp you can take. The rooftop pool has amazing views, and the sunsets are great because you're facing west. The beds by the beach/dock are great, and the area between the dock was protected from waves, which made for calm waters, albeit not as clear as the open ocean area. The snorkeling near the docks was fun; we saw tons of fish where the private boat transfer drops you off. The slide was a lot of fun too, operating twice a day for an hour each time. The food was spectacular, and we generally prefer our room service for breakfast in bed. Of course, any time we travel to these resorts, we love the Hibachi experience, and both Israel and Vitalino made it a lot fun. Overall, it was the nicest Mexico resort we've ever stayed at, and we’d highly recommend!!

    Unbelievable trip!

We just returned last night from an unbelievable seven night stay at Impressions. It’s absolutely beautiful . We had a King oceanfront with hot tub we loved spending time on the terrace took many naps out there. The restaurants are all amazing but I will say my favorite was Unik we had dinner there twice, but there’s not a bad meal on that whole entire property. My husband is allergic to shellfish, and he wanted the risotto which had crab in it. Of course they accommodated him and made him his own dish with no crab. My favorite was the oyster and leek soup. Our butlers Wedinzon and Josie’s were always on top of everything and responded to us immediately if we had any questions and gave us some great recommendations. We spent most of our time at the main level pool with the swim up bar we have to give a big shout out to Jonathan and Adrian best bartenders and made us some fantastic drinks. Julio down by the beach is also wonderful and took great care of us. Isola bar after dinners was always fun and meet some great new friends . I can’t remember the bartenders name there, but he can make one of the best espresso martinis ever! . I’m sure I’m missing people like my Housekeeper our room was spotless. Every time we left the room I thought I took a picture of her name and I can’t find it. Every single person that we had any contact with on the property was so helpful and nice to us. It really did make our vacation. We will definitely be back.

    Wonderful experience

My husband and I traveled to Impression Isla Mujeres from March 28-April 2, 2024 and had a wonderful experience. The entire property was beautiful. We stayed in a Signature Ocean Front room which was spacious and luxurious. We especially loved the automated blackout shades so we could get some much needed rest. Jennifer and Angel were our butlers and were very helpful if we had any questions or needed anything during our stay. The pools were wonderful and we preferred the pool with the swim-up bar most. Our favorite place to be the majority of the day was on the dock. The double loungers were comfortable and the location provided such a relaxing and beautiful view. The staff were very attentive and friendly throughout our stay. We really enjoyed the majority of the food we had. Our favorite restaurants were Unik for breakfast and dinner, Mercado for lunch, and Spezia for dinner. Although we did not overly love the Asian-inspired restaurant or the steakhouse for breakfast (we didn’t try it at night for dinner), we didn’t think they were bad. Just not super impressive like the other restaurants. The drinks were great, but we would suggest a better selection of wines for dinner that are included in the stay. Overall, we had an amazing trip and will definitely plan to return in the future!
