    Don’t waste your time.

Iberostar has changed dramatically since COVID. We have been here many times before COVID and recently returned in December 2024. We will not ever be returning after this vacation. To start, coatís are all over the beach, garbage cans, and will go through your beach bags to get any snacks stored in there. Very unsanitary and nobody in the staff does anything about this. The beach chairs are broken and falling apart. If you lean back, the chair falls completely or you will sink through the chair. These need to be updated desperately. If you have a dairy allergy- good luck. I was told a latte with almond milk was not possible every morning. Almond milk is available to get, but if you want a latte or cappuccino with almond, then you aren’t getting it because the coffee machine is always broken. Everybody from the Maya hotel comes to the lindo buffet, but there isn’t any extra food or accommodations to handle this amount of people. I am not sure why the Maya hotel guests never eat there, but there should be extra food quantities if they are allowed to all swarm the Lindo buffets. Lastly, when we arrived for our transportation pick up they informed us that the van left without us. We received no phone call, text message, or email that transportation arrived early or was leaving. They ended up making us pay a taxi to take us to the airport. I personally think they have taxis ready on the side and let the transportation vans leave early without guests because the taxi was ready to pick us up in minutes. It’s a business for them and they don’t care about their guests anymore. Caution when booking a vacation here.

Resort has gone downhill - overcrowded and understaffed

We had previously been to this resort 6 years ago with some other families and were happy with the experience (especially for kids) so decided to return. The resort is well-maintained and looked as we’d remembered it, with the welcome addition of a water slide park! Our room was great with a king bed and a cool bunk bed that transformed out of the couch. From the beginning though, it became apparent that the resort has lowered their staffing levels, which really diminished the experience of the resort. Some examples: despite the resort being full, many of the restaurants at Lindo and the adjoining resorts were closed. There were very long lines at the buffet at each meal, and many popular food items were empty for the duration of the time we were having our meal. Bar areas that previously had 3 servers now had 2, and where there were previously 2 L, there was often only one server. Be prepared to wait in a line for 5-10 minutes to get a drink at any of the pool or beach areas. There was also insufficient staff to clean up the food and drink garbage. This was especially bad at the beach, where by the end of the day it looked like a garbage dump from the food people ordered at the snack shack. The wind blew half eaten hamburgers, fries, napkins, plates and cups all over the place. More frequent collection would have limited this problem. The other surprise was how bad chair ‘reservations’ were at the pools and beach, it was ridiculous. One day we were only able to get to the pool by late morning, and there were literally zero chairs available at any pool or the beach. That’s not to say that they were all being used, but they may have a flipflop or a beach toy ‘reserving’ the chairs. Of course, people would eventually remove these items, and this let to heated arguments when the owners of these items eventually showed up. One argument just about turned into a fistfight. The resort has signs discouraging reserving chairs, but there is zero enforcement. The final annoyance was the concierge. They have exactly one job - to convince you to attend a breakfast where the resort tries to sell you a membership. Ask them for any help (restaurant reservations, etc), and you will get a sales pitch. They also come around the pools to pitch to you, which is very annoying. At the end of the day, it’s not a bad resort, it’s just not very good compared to the past, especially for the prices they charge

Horrible! Horrible! So glad we are not going there for my daughter's wedding. Dodge a bullet.

Beyond horrible. Can't really express how bad it was. The food was raw, cold and not edible. Could not get into any of the restaurants they advertise. We were starving all week. Service is horrendous..not a five star or even 4. Rude time share people!

    Not what we paid for

Booked this resort and the rooms months back with my brother SPECIFICALLY cause we were able to pick our rooms. My brother and my wife selected rooms right next to each other with all of our kids so we could be close. We get here and My brother‘s room is read, but ours isn’t. No biggie its only 11 am. Then while at my brothers room, we watch the couple in whats supposed to be our room check out! We come back by my brother’s room about an hour later and they’re in there cleaning the room. About two hours later we go to get our room and they have us in a totally different building because according to them they wanted to upgrade us because our room would have a walk theough to our children’s room! Even though our wristbands were able to get us in either room and we don’t need a connecting door. So now we’re in different buildings than the rest of our family and the best they could do is give us another room in the same building as my brother, but on the opposite side where our rooms wouldn’t be connected or next to any of our family, including our kids room. Additionally, we specifically picked third floor rooms for less of the echo in the base that tends to come with the loud music at a resort but no, we’re on the first floor and the DJs booth is pretty much right out our window which is blaring right now so probably at 9 o’clock every morning it’s just gonna be thump, thump thump! Never again will I book with Iberostar. We come to Mexico twice a year and have never had anything like this. Guess it’s back to RIU!

    Bad food, bad customer service

My husband and I have been to several AI resorts throughout the Carribean and were excited to take our 3 boys (ages 14, 12, and 8) to Lindo last week for their first experience. Unfortunately we were disappointed in the resort for 2 major reasons. The first was the food. The restaurants were all very mediocre. The burgers and food on the beach were awful - like it had been sitting there for who knows how long. The buffet was also especially bad. The food that should be hot was always cold and it lacked variety-it was the same thing every single day. The only option for breakfast was the buffet and we all really disliked it. There were several days that my stomach felt off and my youngest son ended up being sick on the way home. Can't say for sure if it was the food, but it certainly is a possibility. The 2nd major reason is on our third night there we were woken up by water gushing out of a hole in the ceiling of our kids room. We were up for 2 hours in the middle of the night while waiting for maintenance to come and fix it. They also had to come back the next day to continue with repairs. While that was annoying, we understand stuff happens and weren't upset by that. What did really bother us was that no one from the hotel reached out to us to apologize or offer anything for the inconvenience. And when my husband did seek someone out to talk about it all he was offered was a "free" meal at one of the Maya restaurants. A free meal at an AI means nothing. After he refused that he was basically told they would do nothing for us. He brought it up at checkout as well and was told the same thing. We were very disappointed in how Iberostar handled that situation. If you want decent food and some customer service if anything doesn't go exactly right, don't go here.
