    A trip to remember!

My wife and I travelled with our 9 month old son and my parents. Our stay was amazing. The poolside villa was great, we upgraded to the oceanfront villa and it made our stay even better. They accommodated us with a baby crib and were very helpful at the front desk. Jhovan was great! We travelled during Mother's Day and Nelson at the guest services desk made a card for me and we got flowers to the room. Ana at the buffet was extremely welcoming and remembered us each day and made it very special for our little guy. The food and service was excellent, would recommend to anyone travelling to Mexico. Thank you to all staff !

Great location, beautiful beach but needs a refresh

I want to thank Chef Daniel, Alberto and Cristian (waiters from the buffet) and Chef Humberto from the Hibachi for their attention. Of all the Iberostar hotels we have stayed, this one felt less Iberostar and more like Las Vegas. There were so many people in the lobby at all times and it was difficult to check in and to check out with the long wait (Even though we did the check in on the app). Due to the weddings and conventions the hotel felt packed. In the lobby and restaurants you can see that the hotel needs a furniture and pain refresh. Furniture looked dirty or stain. Once we got our room, we were able to enjoy a great view to Playa Delfines. The room was nice but it needs a refresh, the linens had stains or holes, the furniture and the walls had scoffs, our balcony door didn't close properly. Also, for my in-laws the AC was not working properly and kept dripping water. They did notify the reception but it was not fixed. Our room had 2 queens and it was comfortable and roomy. The bathroom, however was leaking every time you showered and since there is only 1/2 a glass door, water comes out. The small mini fridge was kept restock, but mostly with sodas and beer. For Iberostar, you get 2 glass bottles to refill. The machine in the 4th floor was broken, so I kept going to 3rd to keep refilling. Also, if you don't hold the bottle when you refill, the sensor won't catch it. The pools and activities for the kids are great, the pool with swim bar the is huge and overlooks the beach. There are also smaller wading pools for kids, a pool with slides for kids, a longer pool and a pool for volleyball or sports. The Coral Level has its own private pool close to the forest with hammocks. The aqua aerobics were a lot of fun! The beach is beautiful and clean. However, there are no many palapas and is first come, first served. I would prefer if you could reserve them on advance. Same with the pool lounges, gets to a point in the day, there is no place to lie down or to get shade. When we were there, all the week the flags were red and there was a rip tide, the waves were rough. The beach has also lifeguards. The entertainment we only saw the mariachis by the pool, a gentleman playing a harp in the buffet and a guitar player on the lobby. They were all OK. The buffet food overall was decent with different options. However, one of the cooks (I guess he is new) served me raw shrimps 3x trying to cook them in the grill. When I told him he threw them away. The restaurants that we tried were the Teppanyaki Naga Hibachi (great), American Bistro (awesome food, just slow service) and the El Maguey Mexican Restaurant (great food, just a few items were bland). The Star Cafe was good for coffee, pastries, sandwiches and snacks. My main complaint was trying to reserve restaurants. In the reception, they told us to go to the restaurant at 5:30 pm, get your name in the list and then come back. We tried that in Trattoria La Horma a couple of times and we will keep getting different answers, there is no room at all, come back when you're ready to have dinner, try later. We never were able to eat there. I prefer in the other Iberostar, you do your reservations when you check in and you're done. For the Hibachi, I had to go to the reception and do it from there as it was a big reservation. For American Bistro, I just ran to be there around 6 pm to get our table. We had 2 different experiences in the spa. My in-laws had a massage by the beach and they said it was great. My husband and I had a massage in the spa and even though I asked for more pressure, I felt the person was just gliding her hands on oil and not doing anything. Definitely not worth it!

One week in a swim out

My wife and I spent a week in a swim out. The staff were very friendly and competent . The room we had was very dated and had several small items in need of maintenance. Examples - front door was warped and you had to slam it hard to shut it, the thermostat had only 2 options, either off or on high. It never shut off so it was very cold in the room. Some hinges on cabinet doors were loose. The sliding glass doors would stick and take 2 hands to shut. On the second day we came back late in the afternoon to sit on our back deck and enjoy the sound of the ocean. There were 2 families in our ‘semi-private’ pool with kids yelling and screaming and the adults were sitting on in our deck chairs yelling at their kids. We asked them to leave and they did not so we called security and security came and made them leave. The same thing happened a few days later only late at night and it was several drunk adults. Don’t waste your money on a swim out if you want peace and quiet. The entertainment crew at the pool were lots of fun and had fun games. The restaurants had pretty good food and we never had to wait in line to get in. We ate around 5:30 to 6 each day. The staff got our pick up time wrong and showed up at our door to get our luggage at 4:45 am instead of 6:45. Next time we will stay at the Coral level.

Iberostar Selection Cancún Coral Resort Excellence and Exceptional Too many Great people to be able to mention all but couldn’t help highlighting some people and experiences. These mentions made our trip a great time. The food experience is 5 star exceptional cuisine and service at all the restaurants. Head Chef Maripol is very personal and oversees it all with such preciseness and care. Her and her entire team are Great. Honorable mention, Carlos at the Coral hotel restaurant is Great! Woop woop!! Another worthy mention is the 5 star experience at the Italian Restaurant with Ivan the sommelier, wonderful knowledge and execution. Adrian is part of the 5 Star Entertainment experience, he makes everyone feel at home and part of this fun and excitement. The bar at the beach is a wonderful place to cool off and have excellent drinks and service experience with Head bartender Israel and his assistant Yul. His drinks are hand crafted with perfection and always with his contagious smile. The 5 star beach service is a great experience with Head Beach Concierge Albin, every desire is perfectly executed, with a smile. The thing and person who sets the 5 star excellence standard at Iberostar is at the helm of the Star Prestige Service Concierge is the Head Concierge, our Great friend, Alexandr. Very Satisfied!!... with this choice!

We spent 9 days at the Iberostar Selection Cancun without any issues. Our room “424” had a nice view of the Coral (adults only section), the ocean & a garden, where we witnessed a number of beautiful weddings and a proposal with big block letters of “Marry Me” on the beach. Our room was updated even complete with a glass underwater ocean view bathroom door!!… (I’ve never seen that before.) We enjoyed chatting with Gabriel from the entertainment crew. (a happy upbeat & funny employee) He was always available to get games of corn hole started, we shared many laughs and his iguana impression is a must see!! :-D He made our trip memorable and noted we should look at Iberostar as our second home!! How could we not return next year. ;-D <3 Pros Instant hot water showers everyday Staff members, Entertainment crew Gabriel, Pool Deck barmaid - Lili, The Starbar Baristas made decorative lattes, Hernaldo from Carey and Swim-up bar made the best Baby Mangos as well the bartender from the American restaurant. Both of the night time barmaids in the lobby lounge Alma?? (sorry can’t remember) were also a pleasure. Bed was comfortable, the house keeping, clean pools, food, & shows were great!! Cons - Online check in was a complete waste of my groups time. After completing this we arrived at the resort only to be checked in again following up with a high sales pitch from the workers at the desks directly across from the check-in side. We were passed off to the "Concierge"… we were told, but when you enter the main doors of the hotel the concierge podium is clearly marked there. (Didn’t see that till we left.) Wasted valuable paid time listening to this guy try and up sale the “Spa”. - No signs displaying “Do not to feed the birds” under the palapas.. I saw one family place a uneaten hamburger out so the birds could eat it and the family would then take a photo/video of this… Meanwhile these birds become pests! SMH!!! I plan on returning next year with more family members as from what I saw I know my family will enjoy it! We stayed May 6th - 15th.
