Horrible Experience. Management missed the plot.
Absolutely the worst hotel stay and customer service experience I’ve ever had. I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay for four nights last year while attending a conference. While the front desk staff was friendly upon check-in, everything else about the facilities and service was unacceptable. There was no hot water in my room, and despite multiple maintenance visits, the issue was never resolved. I had to endure cold showers for the entire duration of my stay. To make matters worse, there was heavy rain during my visit, and water leaked through the ceiling, saturating the carpet. At that point, I requested a room change, but was told the hotel was at full capacity due to the conference—so I had no choice but to stick it out. Upon checkout, I explained the situations to the front desk, and the agent promised a complimentary one-night stay at any Hyatt, assuring me it would be added to my account. Fast forward a year—I'm ready to book, and there's no record of the promised stay. I even got the impression that they were blaming me for their front desk not sending me an email and for me not trying to use the compensation sooner. After being given the runaround for over a day, with no urgency whatsoever, I was told they were trying to track down former employees—despite having notes in their system clearly documenting the issue. Eventually, the manager on duty contacted me and offered 15,000 points as compensation. After doing some research, I realized that’s not even enough for a single night at any decent Hyatt property in my state. To top it off, the manager had the audacity to say, “I understand, but I have to consider what would be fair compensation.” Four nights of cold showers, a flooded room, outside temp below 50 degrees—Compensation being equivalent to a partial night + pay Hyatt more for the difference. This is what Hyatt considers fair compensation? I should have cut my losses and stayed at the Motel 6 and been more comfortable and feeling less disregarded. Absolutely unacceptable. Never again!

10/10 would recommend!
Our stay was outstanding! The entire staff was kind, helpful and accommodating. Room was wonderful along with the view! Breakfast buffet was worth every cent, we enjoyed it more than once. The pool area was fantastic, great to be able to get food right where you are seated.

Wonderful paradise near the water
We were so happy with our stay. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we had the nice room and so professional and friendly at check in. The pink lemonade at the front desk was a nice touch. We had a room in the tower on a high floor with ocean views. The room was updated and very comfortable. Maybe the hotel is old but they have updated all the rooms and it looked so fresh and a very nice nautical theme. The bed was super comfortable and the room smelled nice at check in. We spent a lot of time in the room and it was just so relaxing. I really liked the additional experiences offered in resort fee coverage and thought it was worth it unlike other hotels who just charge the fee and not offer much. Many food options, the food and drinks were tasty just a tad on the expensive side. The pools are really warm and clean. The hotel has a great location if you want to experience water activities and go to the beach in San Diego. Also super close to Sea World. Maybe less than a mile away!

Highly recommend!!!
It was an amazing stay. This was our second trip in 2 years and has become an annual stay for us. The bartender at Pelicans definitely makes the stay that much more enjoyable with his kind demeanor. Thank you to the staff, they make the trip that much more enjoyable.

Wind tunnel pool -dress warm
I booked thru another site with the goal of a family friendly hotel with waterslides that was close in proximity to the water, downtown, and sea world. This fit the bill. The resort fee includes water (including water bottle filling stations), 3 heated pools and a large hot tub, a restaurant where you can buy food or drinks next to the pool, and a play spot with games and ping pong. We ate at Pelicans restaurant the first night and my mai tai cocktail was very strong. The fish tacos were good. They had kids menu. The self park is in a locked lot and expensive but it worked fine and is close to the hotel. Rooms were clean and had plenty of device plug-ins. We stayed on the 14th floor double queen ocean view and you could hear the kids at the pool. The view was nice. The main problem is the hotel is built with a wind tunnel right thru the pool area so you freeze and the wind blows way worse here than other areas of San Diego. We had to wear heavy clothes to sit by the pool with any comfort. Same for the balconies -windy. The Hyatt struck me as a moderately nice property past its prime but aside from the meh poolside experience, it was alright.
