On the beach, walking distance to many bars and restaurants. Room was clean and updated. The food was good and the staff very exceptional. The beds are very firm! Great service and the housekeeping are very prompt and friendly. The only complaint was asking for additional bottles of water to keep hydrated.
Beautiful views and great beach with amenities.
Rooms have a full kitchen. Beautiful views of gulf. We extended our stay another day to enjoy the beach and pool. Covered parking was very nice with quick access to the hotel lobby. The Shor restaurant was very accommodating to a special diet.
Luxury Prices, Subpar Accommodations
My husband and I booked this resort after reviewing all the options in Clearwater and chose it because of its fantastic reviews. Upon arrival at the “resort” we ran into many problems between the subpar accommodations to some of the staff who lacked in proper customer service. We have two young children and after our stay we definitely never plan on returning realizing this was not a family friendly resort or beach. At night the drug use on the beach was rampant and it apparently was in the hotel itself too after finding a small bag of what appeared to be drugs had fallen from the penthouse balcony above us into the reach of our 10 month old and 2 year old. Thankfully my mother discovered it before they did. We then wanted to involve the police to make sure it ended up in the correct hands after the staff insisted they take the bag and not involve the police. We had to ask 3 times for the police to be called and missed our dinner reservations that night. Don’t expect to have privacy either because none of the locks on the doors worked on the bathrooms as well as the staff coming into the room daily to perform “well checks” while we were trying to lay down with our 2 year old and get her to nap. We were promised a fully stocked kitchen (of pots, pans, etc) to be able to cook many of our meals and to our surprise we had hardly anything to be able to do so. Even after we were told to text a number to have someone bring us proper cookware they still didn’t bring us what we asked for. We didn’t even have oven mitts and we had to use the towels to pull food out of the oven and also had to go out and buy our own pan set. There were many other minor incidents we encountered that just kept acting as road blocks to be able to fully relax and enjoy our stay. We have never had any issue in all our travels with a hotel/condo as we had staying at the Hyatt Regency. We really expected more from Hyatt and we just don’t want another family to fall into the illusion that this is a nice resort to stay at for the steep price tag they charge.
We stayed at the Hyatt for 3 nights and enjoyed it. It was within easy walking distance of the pier, marina and lots of restaurants. We were fortunate to have a large room overlooking the pool & beach. The hotel is not actually “on” on the beach but right across the street with only sand dunes in between. Masks were required in hotel and elevators were limited to 4 people. This did cause some some delays & occasionally we had to wait quite a while for an elevator that was not already full. I think this might be an issue even without COVID precautions because the hotel is quite large & the parking garage is also used for paid public beach parking. The hotel is clean & well maintained. I do think the shower head should be changed out, perhaps to a rainfall type. Ours beat in 3 hard spurts & if you tried to change it to another setting, it leaked straight down the wall. Other than that we hoped the room & the convenience of location.
Best choice for the vacation in Clearwater
As usual my guide for my readers. LOCATION. Good location close to peer and Marina, many restaurants. This short walk to the public beach is nothing: little road with polite drivers, who stop immediately after you first step on road. Beach is public, so you have to rent cabana and chaise-longue for $40 and $10/each, or just lay down of towel from hotel. Next to the hotel is SURF store where you can buy everything that you need from beach chairs to clothes, and food and drinks. We brought our cabana and just rented chaise-longue, but in next time I am simple going to buy its and just leave here. This will be cheaper. Location is perfect, but during weekends and holiday a lot of people on the beach from Tampa and Florida here, so the beach is packed. HOTEL. A first good impression – glass of Champaign during check-in. Rooms are big and with kitchenette you even don’t need expensive breakfast or lunch. Huge refrigerator, stove, microwave, Keurig coffeemaker with coffee (we brought ours favorites). A lot of dinnerware, and dishwasher. If you need something for cooking just ask reception. Two balconies on different sides of room. Main overlooked Gulf, and the second -just street. Bathroom is good size, and has everything you need. Closed is big as well (exactly we have additional small with safe), Iron, ironing desk, hair dryer, … Wi-Fi was just OK. What I don’t like is Resort fee. Currently it is $29, but with taxes from state and county just for resort it became $33. For two bottles of water, Wi-Fi, and beach towels is just too much. Also keep in mind car garage is cost $25/night plus $1.75 sales tax. We rented car in Tampa International airport and all together it came with cost about $400.00. In this area we have FloridaFreerides.com when you pay only tip fort short distance ride. Very convenient and cheap. So Lyft or Uber to use from-to airport, plus trip to St Petersburg (we enjoyed walk and lunch on the peer). Maybe it will be cheaper at all. Do I forget Self-serve laundry at the hotel floor? So, if you have flight afternoon, you can swim in the morning and dry your swimsuit before leaving hotel. Restaurant SHOR, American seafood grill maybe not looking fancy, but chef is so good and food is delicious here. Small Market on the second floor staffed with food, but frankly speaking overpriced. Tropico Rooftop Cantina because of rain season was closed during our visit-so nothing to say. Hotel clean, everyone wears a mask and keeping distance. Service is very great. They react immediately on your request, Resume. Frankly speaking I don’t like rental properties; I am hotel fun. And this hotel can beat any one-two bedroom Vrbo apartment. For the week vacation (or more) the Hyatt Regency Clearwater is the best choice.
