Great Hotel for Travel, Business, Families

Our business group of 12 stayed here for a weekend conference that we held in the conference room on the 36th floor. Our conference room came with outlets, coffee service, frig with waters, comfy ergonomic chairs private accessible restroom. The charge for a large screen was an additional charge which we did not add on The hotel has two towers with rooms and conference rooms. The lobby in first floor includes several restaurants and a 24/7 market. The main restaurant has a great buffet for breakfast with Omelet station, standard breakfast proteins and pastries, fresh fruit, smoked salmon and more. ZUMBA provided great breakfast service and oriented me to an incredible beet and berry juice that tastes better than it sounds ZHILIN offered excellent front desk service. Accessible entry with touch pad entry doors Accessible mens and women's restrooms with 2 grab bars and 5ftx 5ft space in lobby. Expensive valet parking. My room was a king room room with sofa and table, working desk, large TV with live Stations and expensive movies, And comfy bed and pillows. I had a room near the elevator and my room was very quiet Excellent hotel walkable to day and evening eateries, river walk, famous downtown activities, Art Institute and more

Hyatt Regency: A Great Central HQ for Fanning Out to Tourist Hot Spots

Went to Chicago for an industry convention at the Hyatt Regency but also planned to stay over a few more days since I had never spent personal time in Chicago and I wanted to seem some of the sights. As a convention hotel, it's excellent and that part of the business is very professionally well run--all client needs were met, but that's probably not why your reading this. If your industry books an event here, I highly recommend it, you will not regret it as a business experience. I booked a room with a view and got a good view of the Chicago River flowing out into Lake Michigan. If you get the same view, a bonus is that if your stay coincides with the fireworks at Navy Pier on Saturdays, you can watch the show from the comfort of your room. The Hyatt is located on the river which makes access to the areas downtown both north and south of the river extremely handy. Within easy walking distance to the south are Millennium Park (of The Bean fame) and the Art Institute. I took in a show at the historic Chicago Theatre on State Street which is only about 15 minutes walk. Within a block or two of the Hyatt is a CVS and a Walgreens AND there's also small supermarket. If you book a room long term which allows cooking you can probably do quite well fending for yourself. I breakfasted at the captive restaurant American Craft every. If you're a breakfast person, I recommend ordering from the menu. They have a buffet style breakfast service which was probably fine, but I ordering things freshly prepared. I also dined at the captive high-end steakhouse Stetson. "Steak and Sushi" are part of their subtitle, so that's what I went with--prime rib actually and a plate of eel sushi. The price point is high if you're bargain hunter, but I like to splurge on vacations and order from the top of the menu. I was not disappointed. Tasty beef, well balanced sushi by expert chefs--worth the price. Get the charred broccolini as a side! To the north of the hotel is the Magnificent Mile. If you're a shopping vacationer, all the great brands are to be found there, and some good eateries for lunch and dinner too. Your fast food and fast casual joints are present; so there are eats for every budget. The Hyatt is just a short block from the Dusable Bridge (Michigan Avenue). This is important because one of the must-do things in CGO is to take a river boat architectural history tour. Three of the major tour companies all launch from there: Wendella, Shoreline, and 1st Lady. I took a Shoreline 90-minute tour and it was entertaining and educational--they're the company that is built into the City Pass if you're doing that. Hang onto your ticket because if you hold onto it, you can get a discount for taking their water taxi from Navy Pier down to municipal Museum Center for under $7. It's very convenient and you get views of the city from out on the lake. I went during the summer so I was not able to take in as many high-culture venues as I would have liked. Sympony Hall is with walking distance of Hyatt. The Field Museum, which hosts an incredible dinosaur fossil collection, is NOT within walking distance--if you don't want to take the water taxi, rideshare is available. The L is also a great option if you've got time and you want the experience of seeing the real city and looking at real Chicogoans. I went to a Cubs game while I was there. They won 11-0 over St Louis--you would actually think they have a good team. If you're there to eat signature food, very close to the Hyatt to the south is a Giordano's Pizza where you can get a small Chicago style pizza. But head in any direction and you'll eventually find plenty of competition--I went to Pizzeria Uno to the north. I had a pretty good version of a Chicago hot dog at the snack bar at the Field Museum. If you're at the Hyatt and have a hankering for a typical "Italian Beef Sandwich", go to Plaza level in the West Tower and you'll find an underground passage into the next door skyscraper The Illinois Center 111 Wacker. You will find a subterranean breezeway of shops and restaurants, but tucked away is an Italian cafe where the beef sandwich is the bomb. Apparently downtown has a network of underground tunnels that make traveling on foot pleasant in the winter months when sidewalks are icy. There's more and I didn't get away from the downtown and museum tourist places (excluding Wrigley Field). The rooms are spacious, clean. The beds are sleepable and fine. Decor is well appointed. The interior of my room seemed nice and fresh. Common areas were well maintained. Take a bus or train if you want to see Chicagoans though. The only people you're going to see downtown are tourists who aren't from there.

Great location downtown Chicago once finally in room!!

Reserved room with lakeside view same day online. Make sure address is on Wacker Dr!! I noticed confirmation email was not for Wacker Dr. I immediately called and the representative was wonderful in booking and canceling previous reservation. Checked in quarter to 3pm and was told I’d receive email when room was ready. Long story short- I went up to check on room status 4 TIMES and finally given text shortly before 5:30pm!! I was given $100 credit which was absorbed by the $77 occupancy fee. Room was clean with fluffy pillows that were perfect! After walking from Michigan Ave to Navy Pier for our boat cruise, our bodies sunk into our beds for a restful nights sleep. Lobby was clean and location is great.

    Very Nice

Clean, beautiful, and great area. Lot's of options. It would have been nice to have a room service menu in the room. Also, it's hard for delivery drivers to get you your food. I had to meet them downstairs, because it requires a key to access the elevator.
