July 2020 travel to Aruba COVID, Hyatt & dining

Until the day before we left we weren’t sure if we were going to go. There was no place in our state where we could obtain the PCR test 72 hours before leaving & having our results. We had been in isolation, & the island, at the time, had 14 cases. We decided to risk it, and are very glad we did. We flew a half full flight on American. When we arrived at the airport, it was very organized. One helpful tip, not only download the Aruba healthy app, but register. Once that was completed, we went into a room & had an oral & nasal swap. Not pleasant, but not as awful as I expected. We then rode in a taxi to our hotel, the Hyatt. They were very nice but stern (as expected!), about staying quarantined in our room until we had our results. We had to order room service that cost an extra $8, which seems excessive, and no children options for lunch or dinner. Our results came back in 6 hours. ALL negative! We have been visiting the island every year for 20 years & have never seen it so empty. Some places are closed. Some have limited menu. They give you sanitizer & do temp checks at every entry. We are happy that we took the trip! Aruba heavily relies on tourism. It’s been a fun trip!

I had an overall good experience with my stay at your hotel..The services were good and your staff ready to help. I like to see a list of amenities at the check in desk. A courtesy of a bus from the airport to the hotel back and forth will be a plus.

    Staying during pandemic!

I wish I could have stay longer. In this world crisis, staff at Hyatt took care of me and my family as if we are celebrities! Everyone was very professional and very patient we all guests there. I will be back next year. Good luck and good health to all employees at Hyatt Regency Aruba! Thank you very much for everything!

    Know about the pool chairs

The only thing they need to do to keep up with the times is change the pool chair policy. It's ridiculous. You rent chairs at 4:30 the day before in the hut on the beach. So many people rent chairs and never show up. We didn't know this policy, went to the pool, grabbed some open chairs and got screamed at by a family because we should have known better than to just take chairs. It was awful. So many resorts are combating this behavior by if you aren't using them within an hour they flag the chair and you have to go pick your stuff up in the hut. Seems reasonable right? The resort is beautiful, the new adult pool was fantastic, the location is perfect walking to plenty of things on the beach and off, even the Jolly Pirates are in walking distance. Other than the pool chair issue I'd recommend this place to anyone.
