My favorite hotel to stay at. Has a great clean smell that you can already smell from outside. Staff is always friendly. Great bar. Rooms are always clean. I wouldn't stay anywhere else. Born and raised in KC. Recently moved. This is the only hotel I'll stay at when I come back to visit. (Have stayed 6 times now) Expectations are always met.
As Expected - Great
We have been Hyatt reward members for years and our go to Hotel is the Hyatt Place. You always know what the rooms will be like. This one was no different. We got a room on the 6th floor which was very quiet. Room was very clean with everything provided. Yes, the bathroom is small, but that is normal. Check in was fast. Breakfast was very good...choice of breakfast sandwich, instant oatmeal, yoghurt, fruit, cold cereal, muffins, etc. Food had to be eaten in your rooms. Masks required when walking around hotel. This is a quiet area near the airport with a few other hotels nearby. Many restaurants a short drive away.
Great place, I think (covid)
First of all, the room I had looks just like the hotel's professional pictures. Very nice set up. Cleanliness is paramount in these times, and it appeared, and smelled, clean. The TV is big. There's a big panel on the side, where you can connect other devices. I was to tired from my trip to mess with it. Interesting that the TV is so modern, but the phones are made for dial-up internet. Beds were comfortable, the pillows, too. I had minimal contact with the staff, so I can't write about them. The only problem with my room was that the AC fan on the "auto" setting was very loud. And the fan is right next to the bed. If you have this problem, change the fan setting to low. It helps. Over all a very nice hotel, with restricted amenities due to Covid 19.
More like 3 1/2 stars
This hotel was comfortable with clean and spacious rooms. As World of Hyatt members, we were able to get a room on a high floor, which was appreciated. The rooms are really quiet and we didn't hear anyone else while in our room. Also, every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. Some drawbacks though include horrendous lighting in the toilet/shower area (one exposed light bulb connected to a loud fan you can't turn off), limited selection of TV channels including no HGTV, and our room faced the front of the hotel where there were very strong lights that illuminated the hotel but also the rooms. Be sure to have the curtains exactly 100% to avoid getting blinded at night. In addition, the breakfast area had a decent amount of food but everything was left out so one person after another would have to touch the same thing like the milk carafe and covers for the plate of breakfast sandwiches. (Note: we stayed at another Hyatt Place on this same trip and they had us order food from one of the workers, a much safer option.). Also, the last night we stayed, the front desk person said the hotel was sold out. In normal times, no problem and good for them. But in Covid times, we had to dodge a lot of people including a good number with no masks and wait longer for the elevator, so that didn't make us feel as safe.
Fun with the Grandkids
We booked a room at this hotel for the pool. All the city pools are closed this summer and we wanted a special time with our grandkids. This hotel has a great outdoor pool. They required reservations for a 45 minute swim, then disinfected for 15 minutes. They also only allowed ten people at a time to swim. We were fortunate enough to get to swim for two hours back to back as the hour after our reservation wasn't full. They also required masks inside, had "to-go" breakfast items to take back to the room, and limited the number of people in the elevators. We felt really safe bringing our grandchildren here. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. I would have liked a microwave in the room, but other than that, I was very pleased. They had good mirrors in the room, including a full length mirrored closet door which I find a lot of hotel rooms leave out.
