One night on a roadtrip; below average for a Hyatt Place
We stayed her for one night on a road trip. The area is a bit depressed. It used to be a cool outdoor mall with a movie theater and a Cheesecake Factory and most of that seems to have dried up either due to COVID or the death of retail in general. The Hyatt Place sits in the midst of this. It was a clean hotel, but it was virtually empty. The staff at the front desk looked surprised to see us when we walked it even though I had checked in online. They said our room wasn't ready which was strange since there we no more than 6 cars in the parking lot. The guy at the desk said he had to go make sure our room was cleaned, so he took the elevator up and then later returned and gave us our key. They had limited breakfast options due to COVID. It was really pathetic: an apple, a wrapped muffin, and a bottled water. I'd stay here again because my main focus was sleep after a long drive...just don't expect much more than that.
Hotel is falling apart, noticeable water damage on ceiling, rooms are unsanitary, curtains had what looked to be blood stains, dishes are unclean and stained, and if you try to cancel your reservation due to the inconvenience Good Luck! It might come with a $50 fee. Use a UV/BLACK LIGHT.
Still good for the price
I am part of the Hyatt Club so I try to stay at Hyatt’s when I can. I do have family in Indianapolis and this is my favorite Hyatt in Indy because downtown can be to busy and everything else is far. You can get to all sides of Indy from this one and only a 45 minute drive to Purdue. I only had a couple of small issues this time. One the shower drain was clogged. This probably could have been easily fixed but I was only staying overnight so I did not bother calling it in that night. The second is there was no breakfast at all. I know they could not have the buffet due to COVID but I thought they would at least offer something in the morning. Other than that still a good value.

1. Entry door on back of building doesn’t auto lock as it is supposed to. 2. Room phones don’t work. This being a safety hazard for emergencies. 3. Hard in front sink and sink doesn’t work. 4. A/C doesn’t work. 5. Very noisy from highway traffic. Even with window shut you can hear the traffic like you are walking down the highway. They have ear plugs in the rooms to accommodate for it. Like you want to put earplugs in to sleep. This leading to a fire or some type of emergency and you can’t hear it because you have ear plugs in. 6. No room service at all to get new towels, clean sheets, or new trash bags. 7. Bathroom door almost hits the toilet within 1 inch. You literally have to walk into the bathroom, cram yourself into the far corner just to get in and be able to close the door. 8. Front sink has some type of discussing Throw up in it. Asked for them to sanitize and clean it and they refused. Sad you get a room and walk in to see this. Had to call front desk by cell phone after looking g up number. Asked for clean towels, new trash bags, and a way to get a phone that works. To include a/c that needs attention. Told us they can’t do any of those items due to COVID-19 and if we wanted to get anything we had to go down stairs. I stated it would be nice to have knowledge that by staying at this place we were paying for only a bed to sleep in with no way to address the items above. 5 minutes later they came to the door and stated we don’t need to swear at the front desk. This never happened and that offended me because instead of the staff telling the truth on the phone call situation they made up a story and lied about it. I highly encourage those to find another place to stay. This place is not a safe place or very pleasant to be at.
more than exceptional
Great and caring staff. Clean rooms. Nice exercise facility. I became acquainted with the staff on a first name basis and they truly went beyond the concept of customer delight. Such a delight in today’s world of having no idea what compromises excellent customer service. Bravo!
