Not your Typical Hyatt Place (not in a good way)!
We arrived near midnight on March 18, 2020. I travel a lot and frequently stay at a Hyatt Place. This one was different. The woman at check in was not friendly. There were no warm peanut butter, chocolate chip cookies. In fact, there did not appear to be a menu at all -- she referred me to The Market -- a less than compelling place to grab something to eat. When we got to our rooms, they were less appealable than most rooms at other Hyatt Place hotels where I have stayed. The shower had mold and the bathroom door had glue -- which may have formlery held a mirror. We left early the next morning so we were unable to got to the Breakfast Bar. The hotel did, however, offer breakfast to go -- we were just in too much of a hurry to get to the airport to take it up on the offer.
A truly underwhelming experience
As a travel agent who books a lot of western US trips, I had hoped to use this hotel as a starting or ending point for my clients. It needs a refresh of the common areas badly. The carpet is beginning to fray in the hallways, and there are nicks and dings throughout the hotel on furniture and walls. The major problem at this hotel is its front desk staff. Waits are inevitable at reception as it was almost always unmanned. When staffed, the Hosts were, at best, indifferent to guests and their needs. This hotel has lost any future business.
Clean and satisfactory. Nothing magnificent. The staff was friendly and the continental breakfast was mediocre - to be expected from a free hotel breakfast. The rooms were very clean and very well priced for the amount of space provided. Great stay!
Good place to stay prior to, or following an airline trip.
We have found the Hyartt Place Denver Airport to be extremely convenient, and comfortable, hotel to stay when we have an early morning flight; or, when we arrive late in the evening and don't want to drive back up to our home in the mountains. There are good restaurants right across the street from the hotel. The shuttle to-and-from the airport is consistent and the staff is personable and helpful.
Clean and comfortable stay.
I used the online check in feature but when I arrived, my room was not ready. It didn't seem like the hotel was overly booked, but since I said my arrival would be after the normal 3pm checkin time, it seemed odd that the room wasn't ready. The front desk girl was very apologetic however, and quickly corrected the problem. Pro's: Clean and comfortable beds. Plenty of towels and product to use. Refrigerator and coffee maker in the room. Several restaurants within walking distance to the hotel. Nice bar downstairs. Close to the airport with free overnight parking. With hotels on Tower Road starting to charge overnight guests for the privilege of parking in their lots, this area on 40th is a great alternative. Literally 10 minutes to DIA. They also offer a free shuttle service. Breakfast had many selections and was fully staffed. Cons: The aerobic equipment in the workout room is broken with the exception of one treadmill. And that one gives an error message every 4 minutes that it is not registering you on the machine and will turn off if you don't press the button. It was good equipment back in the day, but time for an upgrade. There were several guests trying to use the equipment but gave up after a few tries. Hot water dispenser in the lobby area for teas was not hot and water tasted like it had been used for coffee at one point. Please give us tea drinkers a "pure" pot! Staff was very friendly and lobby area and hallways were spotless. This hotel is a good choice if you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel near DIA. Be sure to become a Hyatt member for extra perks.
