Great Location & Rooms — But Be Sure to Double-Check Your Bill

My family and I stayed at the Hyatt Centric Times Square for four nights, booking four rooms in total. Overall, the hotel has a lot going for it. The location is fantastic—an easy walk to Times Square, Broadway theaters, and several metro lines. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and surprisingly spacious for NYC. We didn’t experience any noise issues, and the rooftop bar offers great views and a stylish atmosphere (though, like most rooftop spots, prices are steep). It’s worth visiting for a drink, but you’ll find better drink/dining options within a block or two. What unfortunately soured the experience was a billing issue that came to light after we returned home. A $535 charge appeared on our credit card with no receipt or explanation. While we understand that mistakes can happen, getting the issue resolved was far more difficult than it should have been. We made multiple calls and sent several emails before anyone seemed to truly investigate the issue—it often felt like we were left to reconcile the error ourselves. The good news is that the matter was eventually resolved thanks to a staff member who responded after we submitted a guest survey. His quick action and professionalism were much appreciated, and we’re grateful it was addressed. Still, the process leading up to that point was frustrating and disappointing, especially as a Hyatt loyalty member with a 10-night combined reservation. If you stay here—and there are plenty of reasons to—you’ll likely have a great time. Just be sure to carefully check your billing statement after checkout, and be prepared to advocate for yourself if something doesn’t look right.

    New York Gem!

Great location! You are within walking distance from almost everything in Manhattan. Great bars and restaurants nearby. Our room was nice and comfortable. Staff was excellent! We will be back to stay again at this hotel. It exceeded our expectations.

    Weekend in Times Square

For a small charge got upgraded to a suite with a view. The room was big and wonderful with really cool air conditioning. The bed was amazingly comfortable. We also really enjoyed the bath/shower combo. We did not spend a lot of time in the room, because of all the craziness going on in Times Square. A perfect location. All the staff was wonderful, except the Bar54 staff, which were very restrictive on the balcony area of the bar. Make reservations, apparently to get a table outside.

“The best spot right in the heart of Times Square , unforgettable!”

Wonderful hotel with a cozy and amazing rooftop restaurant. The cocktail staff was excellent—he quickly noticed I was Brazilian and made me a delicious caipirinha with cachaça from Carmo, RJ. I loved it, recommend 100 and will be back soon

    Overall OUTSTANDING hotel experience!

The location of the hotel is perfect for Times Square, broadway shows, easy walk to Rockefeller, St. Patrick's Cathedral, MoMA, Central Park. Queen beds are rare in NY hotels, so this is a gem. We stayed in a two queen bed room and had plenty of room for 4 adults' luggage. We also had plenty of room in the bathroom for all of our toiletries. Bathroom has heated floors, very updated and comfortable. Downstairs cafe breakfasts were outstanding. We also greatly appreciated the comfortable car company they contract with for a flat rate back to the airport. Only two negatives were that the pillows deflate to almost nothing when you put your head down. Also, there are not outlets for the inside person in the bed.
