I’m a platinum Ambassador in IHG so I like Holiday inns, usually. This hotel wouldn’t give me an upgrade even though the hotel was empty because of covid 19. We found about 8 long black hairs in the bathroom and room. There was a sheet used as a comforter on one of the beds. At breakfast, tables weren’t bussed even though only one table was occupied. There are better options when staying at the river walk.
Best Place to Stay on the Riverwalk!
Of all the places we’ve stayed on the Riverwalk over the years, the lodging on our recent trip, at the Holiday Inn, was the absolute best. The hotel location was perfect, not smack in the middle of the Riverwalk where it tends to be noisier, but not on the fringes either. Everything we wanted to see and do was within an easy walking distance. The room itself was spacious, well-insulated against noise from neighbors, and clean. The bed was comfortable. Our breakfast was superb, the portions generous, and the wait staff friendly and attentive. The front desk staff, particularly Sabrina Rodriguez, were friendly and most helpful with dining recommendations and directions. We will be staying at the Holiday Inn Riverwalk when we visit San Antonio in the future and highly recommend it.
Nice Stay, But Some Issues Outside Their Control
We booked a room with a balcony overlooking the Riverwalk. The room was as advertised, but our view was of two derelict buildings across the river. Nothing the hotel could have done about this - just be aware that parts of the Riverwalk are in decline.
San Antonio stay
We were on 19th floor, elevator quick and quiet. we were able to walk to restaurants and some historic sites. Room was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed walking on Riverwalk and direct access from hotel. Only thing I didn't like was $27. for parking at hotel.
Perfect place for your San Antonio riverwalk stay
We had such an enjoyable stay and I can not say enough positive things about this Holiday Inn. We were greeted by valet who helped with our luggage and parked our car. We went to check in and were greeted by Sabrina Rodiguez who checked us in. Being IHG members she acknowledged our loyalty. The hotel is beautiful and well kept. Sabrina was able to give us a river room which just delighted us and we did spend a lot of time enjoying our view since the weather was a bit rainy. The breakfast buffet was tasty and had many options and the view of the riverwalk while dining was charming. Carlo was there each morning with a smile and great service. He said he has worked there 23 years. We also enjoyed the happy hour in the lounge and had tasty appetizers The lady bartender gave great service as well. The beds were comfortable and clean. The location was perfect for us just around the corner from the Majestic Theater where we attended 2 concerts. The hop on hop off double decker bus that takes you to all the attractions stops a block away just next to starbucks. The river taxi stops are just a couple blocks away as well as the buckhorn saloon. We are already planning our next trip with plans to stay here.
