Don't stay here
DO NOT STAY HERE! I wish I had read the reviews. I was going to be in town for only one night for a show and the price was great (I now know why) so I figured “why not.” When I arrived and came up to the front door I saw that the front area had not be swept or hosed off in some time - the windows had not been cleaned in ages (and later - after I checked in - I noticed a rat trap by the door). The lobby was deserted, except for the one lone attendant. The parking lot was pretty much empty, as were most of the rooms. There were a few people with small children and I got the feeling they were “transients.” I saw a couple of these folks at the free breakfast (bagels, etc.) with their kids running around making ruckus. I will say the coffee was quite good. The building is large and to walk all around from one end to the other is quite a hike – and there are only 2 elevators, one of which worked. At one point I saw a questionable character in the hallway talking on his phone – loudly. Insofar as the room is concerned, the bathtub was not clean and when I took a shower the water did not drain and was up to my ankles. Finally, although the hotel is non-smoking but my room had the odor of cigarettes. There as a coffee machine but no coffee. The refrigerator freezer was solid ice and did not keep things cold. I have stayed at a lot of flea bag motels (sometimes you expect this with a motel) but this was absolutely the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Again, DO NOT STAY HERE!

Under construction…avoid for now.
This is not renovated…yet. It is currently pretty tacky, with musty rooms, closed amenities, rodents, and non-working elevators(!) Avoid this if you have ANY other options until they actually do renovate it. The location in downtown is good, but the hotel is really a mess. Ugh.

Broken elevators, no hairdryer, but plenty of fighting
The hotel's elevators are broken, which apparently is a constant thing. They never really explained this at check-in, but told me to follow the signs to the elevators, which are in a back office area. That one is for laundry and garbage and the door didn't close, so I only took it once. The room was 65 degrees and it took about 12 hours for the heat to really kick in. The heater is blown-hot-air type of thing on the upper wall, so imagine a high pitch whine all night long blowing around air. There was no hair dryer and the room phone didn't work so I couldn't call for one. I tried taking the stairs only to get off at the second floor because the stairs didn't go all the way to the first. I found myself in the middle of an MMA event being held at the hotel that night, complete with people warming up right in front of me and a giant cage with competitors fighting in the main ballroom. Wyndham wouldn't refund my money for this stay, but instead invited me to join their members program. It is a terrible hotel and you should avoid it as much as possible.

Don't Go!
The front desk was very unfriendly and the place was creepy. It is huge but feels very empty. Lots of reviews showed mice in the rooms, which we didn't see until after we booked it so we didn't end up staying. Stay clear of this place. Go to the Courtyard Marriott instead.

A disaster in Holiday Inn downtown Rochester Ny
Up on arrival rooms where not ready.we understood since we arrived at noon. But weren’t able to check inn at that time. So we left and enjoyed the day . Around 5 pm came back and had to wait for more than 1 hour in line to check in. Our room 646 was not clean at all and heavy cigarette smell. Carpet full of crumbs , Asked for service but never came. The next day room was never cleaned again even after asking the receptionist for service several times. A complete disaster. I do not recommend this hotel at all . Marc
