Management doesn't respond to guest complaints
On the second night of a four-night stay, the hair dryer in my room made a very loud popping sound and stopped working. It then began emitting a very strong odor of an electrical fire. I immediately went down to the lobby to report this. I was told that someone would look into this in the morning. I explained that the room had, at best, a very putrid smell, and, at worst, presented a fire hazard. Again, I was told that the best they could do was look into it in the morning. After running the air conditioning at full power for about two hours, the odor was reduced to an acceptable level and I was finally able to go to bed at about 1:00 am, although with an overriding concern that there was still a fire danger. The next day I asked to speak to the manager but was told that he was "unavailable." I have been told five times, by five different people, that the manager would contact me. That hasn't happened. No adjustment has been made to my bill (and this isn't an inexpensive hotel) and I have heard nothing from management. I have stayed at this property several times in the past (probably a total of about 40 nights) and always found it to be the best Holiday Inn I have visited. Now it's the worst. Only stay here if you want to pay Holiday Inn rates for a property that's worse than a Motel 6. I was close to having to spend the night sleeping in my car in the parking lot, and no one at the hotel was willing to assist me. I was charged full price for a room that was nearly uninhabitable and potentially dangerous and management has chosen to completely blow me off. This used to be a terrific hotel. Current management has practically ruined it.
Malachi was absolutely the best receptionist ever. Thank you. Funny and actually personable. You can tell she enjoys her job. Very informative as well.. Great holet and close to everything easy to get to
Located on the outskirts of town, this hotel was clean, quiet and comfortable. Close to restaurants like IHOP and KFC, as well as gas stations, and only about 50 miles from the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.
Old and overpriced
I have not stayed in a Holiday Inn for awhile, and for $180/night in the offseason, I expected something decent. This hotel is simply old and run down. The room was dark and dingy with dinged-up furniture and an outdated TV. The bathroom was so small that the door only had about an inch of clearance against the toilet. There are two sinks, which I suppose is helpful, but the external sink wouldn't drain and is lit with sickly daylight bulbs. I get the sense that the hotel hasn't been updated since the 90s, if not earlier. The staff was friendly, so there's that. But at $180/night, this was highway robbery. I wish I had spent my money with one of the independent hotels in the area, which would have been cheaper with the same or better experience. I can't believe Holiday Inn brand standards have sunk so low that this hotel is allowed to continue carrying the name and charging such a high price based on that name.
Manager was Awesome!
Wendy went above an beyond during our stay!!! She cared about our situation and did all she could to give us a great experience! VERY grateful for her and her “I got you” attitude! I don’t know if she is a manager but she should be!
