    Beautiful resort, so-so stay

Upon arrival the room smelled like wet dog, they came back twice and changed the "filter" and other things and offered us a new room - we decided to stay as the other room had a carpet and was right beside us and they promised to clean up the smell. After the two visits, the smell was much less strong (plus we kept the window open the whole time) but it was still slightly there. The problem is that they have a full room carpet and we assumed they let dogs stay there. Free water bottles and a refilling station was nice. Free tea and Keurig coffee was also good. Ice machine and microwave were convenient. We opted not to have cleaners come every day but they came quickly after calling when we needed something They have a tram and boat to bring you around the resort but they don't come frequently enough and they're super slow (you can walk quicker) Very impressive artifacts and private art collection spread throughout the resort - it was super super cool. Vladimir at the Taps Room was wonderful - gave us some great recommendations Beautifully maintained grounds Lots of pools and lawn chairs always available and lots of towels available Dolphin pool was pretty cool but their habitat is quite small and you feel a bit bad for the animals although it seemed like they were very happy and healthy. About 10-15 minute walk to King Shops - much cheaper store and great coffee and restaurants About 10 minute walk to the public beach near the Marriott The coffee shop on the resort is quite expensive - $50 for two small coffees and two small acai bowls If you're a gold or better member they give you $18/pp to spent at restaurants on the resort

My happy is here at Waikoloa Hilton where I found my inner child again

Best room ever with a ocean and dolphin view to die for. The front desk is always so fast with check ins and just great all around. They knew everything about the property and answered all my questions. Called the front desk because I forgot my tooth brush and I had the fastest delivery ever like 5 mins tops. Thank you so much me and my girlfriend will be back in the future 💯

    Please think twice

Biggest garbage resort. Cockroaches are common. Room temp can’t go below 72 even if control panel says 68. Beds are terrible and noise level is 8/10. Don’t expect housekeeping even after requesting for. Nui restaurant is a scam on people trying Italian food. I WILL PAY FOR A NOTED FOOD CRITIQUE TO GO THERE AND EXPOSE THEIR SCAM SERVING ITALIAN FOOD. It was garbage. And be prepared to pay $48.00 a night for parking.

    Stay somewhere else

If you have the privilege of visiting this diverse and beautiful island, do yourself a favor and stay literally anywhere else. I'll start with the good: there is an amazing lagoon on the property that is connected with the ocean, and as a result has fish, sea turtles and manta rays, which you can see just by snorkeling around. And the gardens and grounds are beautifully maintained. Unfortunately that's it for the positives. The property was built in the 80s and the buildings and rooms have never been updated since (think things like the bathroom includes only a toilet and a shower; the sinks are outside in the room). The property is designed in a ridiculous U-shape, and as a result getting anywhere requires walking 1+ km or waiting for a monorail (hello 80s) that runs along the U and only has 2 trains that come by every 15 mins. Most importantly, there is *no beach* on the property. It is a rocky, rough shoreline that doesn't permit swimming. So only the pools and the lagoon are viable options. There *is* a beach that is a 25 minute walk south of the resort, but again, you need to get there. And while Hawaii is expensive, eating at the resort is outrageous. For example, I ate with my daughter at one of the beachside grills one afternoon - we ordered a burger for her, fish tacos for me, and two soft drinks and it was $75 USD. Also, there is no real nightlife on the resort because of how large it is. There are a few bars and restaurants but they are so spread out that you never get the feeling of it having a "nightlife." The whole place feels dead at all hours of the evening. And while this doesn't have to do with the resort specifically, renting a car is a *must*. Even the excursions and experiences that are advertised and sold at the resort don't provide transportation anywhere. Besides that, the island is absolutely beautiful and geographically diverse and 100% worth seeing, so taking the time to drive around the island is essential.
