Okay but needs improvement
Swim up room: The room was large, bed comfortable, a huge bathroom and large deck to swim up pool that interconnects with other rooms. Issues: the toilet closet phone was missing which left a w Home in the wall, room phone rang in the middle of the night repeatedly with no one on the other end, ceiling fan came on intermittently without touching a controller, which was missing. Facilities did come out to fix issues but their was a slight language barrier. Food: The buffet was not spaced so one can easily get food without reaching over another dish. Birds were inside. (Resorts with a hawk handler had almost no birds in open restaurants) There were many options to choose from and the taste was decent. The best restaurant was on the adult side, Hacienda. Lobby: The main lobby had well spaced furniture but most of the cushions were filthy or stained, one busy bar, and on some nights live music, which was decent. The concierge room for Hilton honors had a pool table. Pools and Beach: The pool was bit on the small side for the capacity of the hotel but comfortable enough to sit still and cool off. The beach was nice with cabanas and palapas. I enjoyed a bday decorated cabana on the beach with champagne and dessert. Service was great and one server spoke excellent English. She even explained the higher level of English required to work at upgraded resorts. The Hacienda is the newest part of the resort. It has a long, curvy pool surrounded by lush trees and foliage with a swim up bar at one end and smoking section. Another pool is partially under a building with columns and had considerable less people in it. Overall the building and grounds were neat except for some much needed outside facade renovating. I would not say the resort meets US standards, especially at Diamond status, but a decent vacation spot. At check-in we were not offered champagne as others (white people)received and it had to be pointed out. That lack of attention seemed racially biased and we are a mixed race couple. Following the addressed and corrected behavior the level of attention increased favorably.
Not Worthy of the Hilton Name, Not Worthy of AAA 1 Diamond let alone 4
This was so bad, it was actually just terrible. I left without spending a night. Very sad, since I got married here, this used to be a phenomenal hotel and resort. I had a bad experience here on our Anniversary trip in 2018, didn't plan on coming back. Met one of the owners, heard about new management, decided to give them another shot, when I needed to be in Vallarta during the Covid-19 pandemic. I trust the Hilton name to make sure I would be safe. I arrived after my room should have been ready. The area where you normally get dropped off is full of cars all the way out to the street. No one to help with my bags. But I manage to make my way to the front desk. I stand in line for 20 minutes (as a Diamond) then am told I need to wait 20 minutes for my room to be ready. No offer to help with my bags. What's strange is they gave me my key to my room, with no explanation on where the room is. I had booked a room in the main hotel, I don't like the Hacienda. They put me in the Hacienda saying it was an upgrade. Upgrade to looking out over a pool that was closed and empty! What a joke of an upgrade. An upgrade to a room on the top floor, with a broken elevator, and no one to help with my bags. Just to find my room, a maintenance guy saw me looking lost, because the numbers are so confusing to the layout on that side of the hotel, it even took him 2 trys to find the right area. Once the elevator was broken, I said enough of this. I walked all the way back to the Main side with 2 large bags, and a back pack. No offer of help still from anyone. I then spent 30 minutes trying to cancel my room. I was told I could cancel with no issue and they would refund, but the guy kept trying to talk me into staying, instead of just letting me go when my mind was long made up that I was leaving. I never got a thank you for being a diamond member when I checked in, no thank you for coming back to this place for at least the 10th time. Then most of the pools were closed, most of the restaurants were closed, as well, and none of this was mentioned when I made the reservation. Even with no status, no history with the property if this place bears the Hilton Name it needs to treat everyone significantly better than the treatment I got. I won't be back here again, and I recommend you look for somewhere else to stay in PV. If you want a Hilton, wait for the Conrad to open just north of Punta de Mita, or visit a different region of Mexico that has a Hilton, because this place shouldn't be one anymore. FYI, I got treated a 100 times better at the Hampton Inn in Guadalajara in February compared to this place on both of my last 2 visits.
another perfect trip
Just recently my wife and I visited the Hilton PV Resort for another stay. We have been staying at that Resort for years and always love to come back. Check in was quick and social distancing was applied to and as I have seen, to everyone else too. We got welcomed like family members and that's the atmosphere at the Resort. Staff is extremely friendly, rooms are nice and spacious and room service was served promptly. Under the circumstances the Resort did everything they could to make the guest happy. Repair crews worked to fix small problems they had, but after being 3 month closed, everyone did a good job. We will be back very soon at the Resort. We love PV, the people and the area.
Not A True All Inclusive Stay Away
Absolutely the worst resort I’ve ever been to and it’s sad for me to say this since I am a Hilton Diamond member. First off this is advertised as an all inclusive but don’t believe it. It’s really a hotel with an all inclusive plan. my advise is to stay somewhere else in PR and here is why I believe this based on a real experience. Upon arrival we had enter the property which was like entering a third world compound. The property is scrunched between some recent built condos that are not part of Hilton down a crappy cobblestone street. To get in you have to give them your reservation so we felt like it was not a nice area upon arriving and we did not feel welcome or impressed. Not high lux or inviting at all. The property is old to say the least. The paint is peeling, the Hilton hotel sign was no joke, a banner that looked like it was made at the local copy shop. We were not sure if the sign was put up from a recent storm or if this is always what it looks like but, it was trashy. Check in took 45 minutes standing in line. Even the Hilton Honors line was a joke and the 45 minutes was to check in 7 guests so clearly more staff is needed and better training bad well. The bars are a joke as well. There is no swim up bar so you have to get out each time to walk to a restaurant bar and guess what wait in line again. I would say bringing drinks from the minibar in your room would be easier if they stocked it but they don’t. They also don’t give you any cups in the room for coffee or anything else. Our mini bar only had 3 beers in it. The pools are not clean and are green not blue. There is a brown film in the pool clearly from age (I hope) or maybe from not cleaning it. The service was awful. Usually Mexico is known for service and so are all inclusive service but not this place. After day 2 we wanted to check out even pay to leave this place. It was impossible to get any good or beverages from any of the bars. We were ignored half the time and no one would take our order even after standing in line. We noticed that since we were foreign maybe this was the case but, whatever it was we hated it. The beach is rocky so if you’ve been to PR there are some nice beaches with soft sand well this ain’t it. The sand is not soft and there are rocks and boulders everywhere. There also was no security at the beach so we saw a ton of locals in the beach chairs bringing their families to the hotel and we even saw them join the lines to get food without wrist bands and get served. This so called resort features several restaurants well good luck making a reservation we called several times to get a reservation but no one picks up the phone. We had to complain at the front desk to get a reservation at the restaurants. However, the restaurants are awful as well. Think airline food because that’s what you get. It’s all bland mediocre food and not high quality we expected from Hilton. Also don’t expect food 24/7 like most all inclusives. The pool bar I mentioned earlier closes at 5 and does not reopen the next day till 12. There is a lobby bar but they don’t open until 10am so if you like to get up early and start the party you won’t be doing it here. Late night snacks you say...lol no way, not here, you have to leave the hotel property for that. to wrap up this hotel is awful and is the only all inclusive we have ever stayed at where we wanted to leave the property. It’s run down, not managed well, the food and beverage are not worth standing in line for, the staff is rude and not professional nor do they have a sense of urgency, the pool lacks a swim up bar, the beach is awful, at no time did we feel like we were on vacation. We will never be back to this hotel and most likely to PR due to this experience. You have been warned.
Perfect stay at the Hilton
Recently stayed at the Hilton PV for our annual mother/daughter trip. We stayed for 5 days and everything was great. Check in was fast and smooth. I asked if our room had any view of the ocean. Was told no but she quickly changed us over. We stayed in a partial ocean view rooms with 2 double beds. Beds were very comfy, and rooms were very clean. Fridge in room was always replenished with water and drinks daily. Food was great! The buffet at the Seafire was a perfect size. Wasn’t huge but wasn’t too small. I enjoyed that because I never left there so full that I had a stomach ache.. great selection of desserts too and lots of pastries in the mornings for breakfast. Beach was quite big. Can walk quite a ways before it ends. Quite a few vendors on the beach but a simple no thank you sends them in their way. Drink service on the beach was pretty good. Someone was always coming around to see if you needed anything. They would even bring you food from the snack bar, if you wanted. We tried the Mexican a la carte and the French a la carte. Enrique at the Mexican restaurant was great! Super friendly, always a smile on his face. Would highly recommend either of those restaurants. There was activities going on lots during the day in the pool. There’s 2 pools. 1 is warmer than the other. My only complaint is that food could be labelled better for people with peanut or other allergies. I accidentally ate the granola and it had peanuts in it. Luckily my allergies aren’t as bad as they used to be so I managed through it. Resort staff was quick to apologize and took note of our room. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone! It’s clean, well taken care of. polite, always smiling, going above and beyond staff. Location is great too, only 6 minutes from airport.
