A 2-star motel at best
First, this hotel is more akin to a 2-star motel than a 4-star hotel. There are two buildings, north and south. The north was apparently remodeled in 2010 while the south was remodeled in 2006. We were in the south building and boy were the rooms rough. Issues with our room: 1) phones did not work, 2) sofa bed was broken (the frame was broken and the head of the bed fell toward the floor) 3) one the the queen beds was so tilted that we had to sleep with our heads at the foot of the bed so the blood wouldn’t rush to our heads 4) the door didn’t always lock- you could push it open from the outside 5) there were ants in the bathtub 6) the A/C rattled all night to to point of having to turn it off 7) bath products attached to the wall were empty 8) it smelled musty Housekeeping/engineering suggested they bring blankets to put at the head of the sofa bed to try and get it to feel normal. I laughed. At $350/night they couldn’t have been serious, but they were. Everything is dingy and worn. The grounds and building are in bad shape. The Hole-in-the-Wall restaurant was horrible. Yuck! They charged a ton for food too. They seem very understaffed and under trained. I’m not one to write reviews. I usually just let it go, but this hotel is nothing like they advertise on the website and I think it is important to warn people. Believe the bad reviews on here.
resort was very clean and spacious. Quiet early in the week, but got going closer to the weekend. The Spa was all that.... Great service, clean locker rooms and showers. Waterpark was relaxing... even though it was only 60 degrees
Good but not Great
We spent several days here and had somewhat mixed reactions to what we found. The positives are the facility is nice and well located, albeit fairly pedestrian finishes and furnishings in the rooms. The staff was uniformly helpful and cheerful—from the front desk to housekeeping everyone was very nice. The facility is kept up quite nicely and rooms are clean. If you are looking for a hotel with pools and a lazy River and mini golf for kids this hotel works. Spa also was quite nice. And they now have a glass blowing artist who is also a very good instructor in glass blowing. Quite unique. The negatives are that there are really very limited dining facilities —essentially one BBQ restaurant, the Hole in the Wall, which requires a bit of a walk outside to get to—and a coffee/sundries place off the south building main lobby. However the resort has multiple buildings so if you want to eat on premises you will need to go outside which is not very convenient particularly in cold or rainy weather. There are some nearby restaurants but these too require a trip outside the property. In addition although the staff was willing and friendly , they were sparsely deployed— none in the North part of the resort, as far as I could tell. I heard that parts of the resort may be slated for a tear down and rebuilding (not confirmed !) so that may impact staffing and availability of dining facilities on the resort property. One should check on this before booking. All in all, I give this a 3+ stars.
Once again a great stay!
This is our second time back to this Hilton Resort for a week stay. This Resort is designed extremely well for families! Everything from the layout of the suites, activities, to menu and food options, snacks and gifts in the shop all have the family in mind! This time around we met Selma at the River Ranch. The Ranch was very busy and I could see she genuinely cares about her guests comfort and safety, despite it being busy, the service was great that day. Staff are very polite and acknowledge the little guests too. The staff at the shop remember us from our 2 week stay last year which was really nice. It’s really nice to be back and to see so many familiar friendly faces.
We had a great stay at this resort! Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Housekeeping was great and always came back to clean our room or add special touches. The room was very clean and had no issues there. It was super spacious so was great with kiddos to have our kids in one side of room, bathroom in middle and our room on other side. All divided by doors which was great for us to relax after kids went to sleep! & still be able to use bathroom at night without waking them 😂 The hotel also has restaurants on site, Starbucks and a great pool area with heated pool, lazy river and put put! We would definitely stay here again and had a great time!
