Had always wanted to stay at this hotel. It was quite disappointing. Wouldn't stay there again. Customer service was poor as well as the cleanliness of the room. To top it off our car was broken into in their parking lot overnight. They have signs posted in the lot saying that they have no security and to get your valuables out of your vehicle. Didn't think something like that would happen at a Hilton.
Great for large groups
My Corporate benevolent society has had annual winter meetings here for a number of years. The space is large. Coat checks are a nice perk. Parking is tight, but free. The food is above average. We will continue to attend.
Embarrassment to the Hilton name
The hotel was run down. The first room we were given, the door literally fell off when we opened it and the toilet didn't flush. The 2nd room, the bathtub would not hold water. But the worse part was the service. The staff was very rude and not helpful. When we asked for the bathtub to be repaired, we came back to the plunger being completely pulled out and the bathtub dirty. I complained even after our stay and got no response from the hotel or Hilton.
The hotel is spacious and clean and the rooms were also clean and nice and the bed was comfy and clean and bathroom was clean and nice and had great water pressure and the staff was nice and the location is great. Overall I am definitely going to be back here again.
Not what I expected.
My husband and I had to make a last-minute travel arrangement over the weekend, something we were concerned might not be possible during the pandemic. When we saw that the towering and stately Memphis Hilton was open, we were stoked. We're from Memphis, and my senior prom was held there back when it was still the Adams Mark. The hotel was fairly empty, which wasn't a surprise. The lobby was clean, the front desk clerk was friendly, there were plenty of hand sanitizer stations posted at the entrances and elevators, and plexiglass separated guests from the staff. We felt safe, at least where COVID-19 precautions were concerned. Upon exiting the elevator on our floor, however, we were hit with a cloud of pungent marijuana smoke coming either from the emergency stairs or the room nearest the elevator. I suppose it's a testament to the hotel's insulation and HVAC that the smell never permeated our nearby room, but I felt very unsafe staying at a property where other patrons (or perhaps employees) felt it safe or appropriate to flout rules and common decency in such a manner. The room was relatively well-appointed, and the air was nice and cold (I can't sleep unless it is), but the carpet was in desperate need of a shampoo. My socks were filthy by the end of the night. The gnarled piece of fried chicken batter under the nightstand was an added bonus, I suppose. That, and the free contact high.
