Terrible, just terrible.
There is a strike that has been going on for 3 weeks. At no time were we given notice, even though we reserved a while in advance. This place doesn’t seem to want to pay its workers a fair and decent wage and you can see everything crumbling around it. The room was dirty with hairs everywhere, and food on the carpet from previous guests. They overcharge for absolutely everything! You have to go to a different floor for supplies (If there are any left) like toilet paper or towels. They promised soap but there is none. The hotel is billed as a 4* but it’s falling apart at the seams. Everything is old, dirty and worn out. It’s shameful that they charge what they do for what you get as a client. It has by far been my worst stay at a 4* hotel ever.

Hilton Do Not Care About Their Guests
We arrived on day 14 of this ongoing staff strike, Hilton gave us no notice or warning that they would not be delivering on what we’d paid for. the constant noise from the protesters was so disruptive and quite distressing for my 8yr old. It was DIY housekeeping, long wait for dining options as a number of outlets were closed - despite having teasing signs up saying they were open. No proactive apology or offer of compensation from the hotel, although I’m yet to see an actual credit come through on my credit card, they were pleasant or deal with when requesting compensation. However all staff who were working were very good, location was lovely. The issues with the strike aside, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel as it is way over priced, looks tired and dated, some serious maintenance issues were observed, electric shocks from the elevator button. Fun fact- there are no on demand TV/Movie entertainment options, you need to go to the front desk (where no one is currently working) and borrow a DVD, my kids don’t even know what a DVD is. Overall, had we been proactively informed of the issues and offered a partial refund, we would have been ok with navigating the distruptions and reduced services. It seems like management have stuck their head in the sand and hoped that guests wouldn’t notice they are not delivering on what they are charging for.

Rainbow Tower Oceanfront, well worth it
We really didn’t know what to expect prior to arrival, so hope this information helps others. Overall, we would stay again. 1. Hilton Hawaiian Village (HHV): HHV is large campus with multiple hotels called ‘towers’. The campus also has multiple restaurants and shops centrally located between the towers. You will need to leave your tower and walk outside to get to the shops and restaurants. They are all within a very short walk (less than 10 minutes). Note: The Tapa Bar is like an open air bar/restaurant. If you stay in one of the towers near the Tapa Bar, you will hear the nightly band performing until around 10pm or so. 2. Rainbow Tower (RT): We stayed in the Rainbow Tower in an oceanfront room and highly recommend the same. RT is a very quick walk to the beach, pools and the lagoon. RT has the Bali Oceanfront restaurant accessible from the ground floor (restaurant recommended in a separate review). Many of the ‘free’ resort activities included in the resort fee (bracelet and necklace making, ukulele lessons, etc.) take place in the lobby of the Bali restaurant, so staying in the RT makes these activities easily accessible to you. We had no long waits for the elevators except for Friday evening after the fireworks when everyone was trying to get back to their room. Note: the Tapa Bar is not very close to the RT so it is a quieter tower than if you were in a tower closer to Tapa Bar. 3. Room: When booking, make sure you pay attention to the room type to ensure you select ocean front and not ocean view. Our room was a corner room which we loved! The corner rooms have 2 balconies, one facing the ocean and our other balcony faced the resort due to where our room was located in the building. We enjoyed sitting on both balconies but especially enjoyed the resort side because it was shaded in the afternoon and the wind was steadily blowing on that side. It was paradise! It’s true the room could use some TLC (carpet getting worn, etc.) but it was clean. We didn’t spend much time in the room anyway, so the age of the room did not detract from our stay in any way. 4. Check-in: Highly recommend using the Hilton app for check in. If you have the reservation in your Hilton app and there is a room clean and available within 24 hours of your arrival date, you can use the app to check into the room. We were able to use the app to check into our room before we even left home and we were able to select our corner room. If you check in at HHV you need to wait until 4pm to use the central check in desk. It is a nice area and the agents are very friendly and helpful, but if you use the app to check in, you can get into the room before 4pm with the digital key feature in the app. You get to bypass the line to get to the check in agents. 5. Check in agents: We ended up having to use the services of the central check in agents to change rooms after a couple days due to the people in the room next door having a young child that liked to scream loudly quite often. The check in agents moved us to another corner room without any issues and apologized for our inconvenience. They offered to have one of the staff help us relocate but we declined this help. The grounds were well kept. Every day, there were grounds crew maintaining various plants, grass, etc. Housekeeping staff was very friendly when meeting them in the hallways. Overall, the staff and the beautiful location made for a wonderful 8 night vacation!

PAY YOUR WORKERS A FARE WAGE, MAKE A DEAL, DELIVER ON THE SERVICE YOU CHARGE YOUR CUSTOMERS FOR!
The quality of service amidst the workers’ strikes was severely diminished. There was no housekeeping service; we were directed to a different floor to pick up extra towels if we needed them. No one answered the front desk phone so we could ask for assistance on many items from our room missing (remote control, shampoo, conditioner, etc). The lagoon grill was closed because of the strike; we walked across the village to tapa bar for lunch. The burger bread had mold on it, the fries and Caesar salad had hairs in them. The workers who were present looked tired and overwhelmed. PAY YOUR WORKERS A FARE WAGE, MAKE A DEAL, DELIVER ON THE SERVICE YOU CHARGE YOUR CUSTOMERS FOR!

Terrible Experience
We came here for a destination wedding and the hotel staff is currently on strike and we have had to take out our on trash, clean our own rooms, get our own towels, etc. There is constant protesting and chanting from sunrise to late in the evening. There is trash left in the hallways and sometimes it smells like dirty diapers. Overall not the experience we wanted this week!
