Anniversary Get Away
My wife and I had a very nice stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Freeport Downtown. Covid-19 protocols make staying at any hotel in Maine an adventure. Maine has set strict protocols for the hotels to follow and the Hilton Garden Inn Freeport Downtown was doing a very good job following them.
The Hilton Garden Inn is conveniently located to downtown Freeport; it is easy to walk between the inn and the stores, restaurants, train station, etc. in the downtown area. The beds are comfortable. I stayed in a room with a king sized bed. I had plenty of room to spread out and relax. If someone else had been with me it still would have been roomy. There was plenty of space in the room to store one's belongings. The water got hot quickly and stayed hot. The water pressure was good. There seemed to be a large number of people staying at the inn. I was not bothered by noise from other guests. The property is well maintained. The staff is professional, friendly and helpful. There are train tracks running behind the inn. I stayed on the other side of the hotel and did not hear trains. Yet I don't know if trains can be heard passing on that side of the inn.
Very nice hotel downtown. Great rooms and service. Very clean and modern. Front desk was very helpful and courteous. Nice location. Very close to Shops and LL Bean. Highly recommend. Live the Hilton experience. Freeport was great.
Nice room but trains are LOUD
The hotel is right next to active train tracks - every few hours you will hear the alarms, the whistle, and the train, not conducive to sleep. Hotel is nice and new, but front desk did not explain parking (which is quite a ways from the rooms) or how pool reservations work, etc. So on balance, I would not stay here again.
Nice hotel, but they should have serviced breakfast
I booked our hotel stay on hotels.com, and my reservation said that the hotel serves free breakfast. When we arrived, I learned that there is no breakfast in the morning because of the coronavirus. The front desk person didn't even apologize. He said that he doesn't know what the website says. Really? It is the hotel's job to update booking websites and provide the most up-to-date information. In the last two months, we stayed in 4 different hotels, and only Hilton Garden Inn cancelled breakfast. They even decided not to provide free coffee in the lobby. Instead, you can buy coffee and snacks in the hotel's store. The only reason I am giving this property 3 stars is because it is conveniently located from the outlet stores and the hotel is clean and attractive.
