    Amazing Family Trip

We travelled here in March of 2024 for the second time we stayed at this resort. We were non-Diamond Club. We travelled with a 1.5 year old and an almost 6 year old. I can't say enough good things about this hotel. The check in was fine, it was a shortish and seamless process. We left our luggage with the bellhop at the front and when our room was ready, there were no issues getting it and getting settled. Our room was great, no complaints. We requested a crib for our youngest which came relatively quick. Our daughter loved the idea of having her own little bed which was a pull out single. The crib just had bulky sheets as the mattress cover which was fine, we have travelled before an knew to bring our own crib sheet. (not that he slept much when he was supposed to lol) We weren't there a lot but when we were, it was pretty nice and fun. Sargassum washes up on the shore every day but the workers do a great job of trying to keep it clean. The sand is soft and white with black seaweed mixed in a little but is 99% white sand. The bar is far away and the water isn't crystal clear blue water. It's still fine to swim in but one day I was told to get out because the local small croc was out from the glade. They have loungers and umbrellas to provide shade but as you get towards the water, there's about 20-30 meters of unrelenting sun, it was great. :) All in all, it was fine, not busy but fun for what it was, most of the action and people are poolside. The pools are great, a couple swim up bars where the bartenders keep you nourished. We had a lot of fun their with our kids and their floaties. We at at the buffet everyday for breakfast and it had everything you'd want, it wasn't Michelin star but what Buffet is? The kids found something to eat everyday and so did my wife and I. We'd head to the pool and get to our loungers that I had put something on at 7-8am when I was walking around with my son who wanted to get up early every morning. I was up at around 5-6am in the morning and would see workers taking things off the chairs as people would think they could reserve them from the night before or at a time that wasn't fair. Since I was up that early, getting a lounger wasn't a problem after the first day or 2. Being a returning guest, I had known how the lounge game worked but didn't want to partake right away to see if it was the same. It was the same. People get up, put a flip flop on a lounger, another on the next one, a floatie on the next one, sunscreen on the one after and so on. 1 day, I didn't see these being used all morning. Rightfully so, if all loungers were used, this stuff would be taken to lost and found. Then you'd have someone do this, the parents or grandparents sit on the loungers all day with 10 others reserved but unused for most of the day. Not sure of a way around that but that's for the hotel to figure out. Didn't bother me since my family of 4 would often just take 2, max 3 and generally be on them all day but not away from them for longer than an hour in the pool or lazy river or whatever. Bringing me to my next point, the lazy river was a lot of fun, a little cool temperature wise but you get used to it quick. it was a lot of fun for everyone. My daughter tried the kid's water slide for the first time there and we couldn't get her away from them lol. The large waterslides looked fun but I only went down 2. (all I could get my family to agree on lol) The tube was great, the non-tube one was great too, just wear a water shirt or something, which is normal for water slides. All day at the pool, our server Ruth was fantastic, always around and attentive bringing water, cervezas and strawberry slushy drinks for the kids. We got lunch from the outside buffet or the food trucks and it was always just enough and what we wanted. Just clean up your plates to discourage the birds. These were also good for mid-meal snacks anytime too. The gelato hut was a family favourite, we had some days with multiple trips. The lunch pizza shop was a hit, at peak hours it just got busy, but it's expected. We ate at the Hibachi one night which was a lot of fun and the Italian another night which was very tasty! Every other night we at at the buffet and it did the trick for us. Bringing 2 little kids made the buffet that more practicle. No waiting for food, they pick what they want or what we think they will want, eat, drink and distractions for them ;) There were always lots of choices and the food was better than standard buffet fair, it's not gourmet, but which buffet is, it was honestly more than what we expected. All in all, like I mentioned at the top, not enough good things to say. Ruth took care of us most days and was great, the day bed was fun, that was our daughter's wish from the first trip. There was a tonne of activities for the kids every day too. The indoor trampoline park was fun, it cost extra so we did it sparingly. (+ we want to spend the days outside, not indoors)

Vacation to escape winter with friends and familia. Was a blast to get out of the cold and soak in the sun.

Ernesto mucho help, very friendly and made us bracelets to take home to our children. Would recommend the cabanas next to the pool, tuna tartar, beach volleyball you name it. Beautiful beach, beautiful rooms and a fun adventure the family will never forget.

    Staff made it special!

The staff members are so nice, especially Victor Vidal, Astrid Nava, Nelson Kalixto, Julio Aguilar and Adryana Reygadas! They made my stay extra special with helping with reservations, making sure my room was perfect and checking with me to make sure I was ok! I traveled on this trip for my nephew’s wedding and if you are thinking of hosting your wedding here, don’t hesitate! We had a group of 70 people and they have a wonderful setting! Thank you to all that made it special! The only downside was the smell from the mangroves, but that is beyond the hotel’s control. I was not used to having to make reservations as my other AI didn’t require that, but it was manageable. I was Diamond Club in building six. My room had a beautiful ocean view and the beach is nice and water good to swim in. Some areas do show some age, but it appears there is work on updates. Thank you to my friends at the Royalton!!

    Wonderful Experience

The location has been very enjoyable. One particular employee, Juvenal, has helped us with exemplarly service multiple years in a row. He introduced us to some new beverages and was a wonderful guide and bartender both this year and last. We really appreciate his help and bartending skills. He is very friendly and kind, a gentleman and a scholar, and we will tell tales of his signature drink to friends and family for years to come. Search him out and ask for a Mexican Candy, then chat with him for a bit, you will not be disappointed.

    Juvinal: mixologist, scholar and friend

We have enjoyed our stays at the Royalton Riveria. In particular, Juvenal provided wonderful service and made us feel like family. We have many fond memories from this trip and our previous visits. If you see him, ask him for a "Mexican Candy."
