Hand, foot and mouth disease outbreak and staff robbed us
My first time in Mexico ... I heard a lot of positive reviews of this resort. Unfortunately it was a mostly negative experience for my family. Staff, while friendly, definitely were NOT trustworthy. Management didn't seem to care about our concerns. We had our personal effects stolen poolside by our server (later confirmed on video). The server was fired after an investigation by security (or so we were told). The amenities were in good shape although the personal "concierge" was useless. They would often forget your requests and certainly it wasn't worth the extra costs for the upgraded service. Food was good for the most part. Overall I wouldn't recommend this resort and certainly wouldn't ever return to this Royalton.
Lovely resort shame about management
Stayed here before and had a fantastic time. Stayed here at the beginning of coronavirus outbreak and what a shambles. We used the room selector to choose And pay extra To select two Rooms, We were there for 4 nights when we returned to our rooms at the end of the day To find we were locked out! Had to go to reception to be told you are moving rooms, No prior warning! That is the last thing you want to do after a day at the pool, you just want a shower. We were told we were getting an upgrade however our room was exactly the same and our friends had an extra sofa bed which was of no use as they were travelling as a couple. On returning home I found that I had been charged TWICE for these rooms and now no one is answering my emails when I am asking for the overpaid money to be refunded. Beware when using the room selector! YOU MAY BE CHARGED TWICE Following this things went from bad to worse, pools started being closed, Restaurants were closed, entertainment stopped, toilets closed. In fact by the end there was only a limited selection of food in the buffet only all other restaurants had been shut for our final week. It was an absolute shambles, whilst I understand we were in an unprecedented situation, at no point did anyone tell us what was happening or apologised. We paid for a 5 star hotel but did not receive 5 star facilities. Having said that the staff were brilliant even though their jobs were finished when we left as the hotel was closing. A huge thank you to Damaris who kept us well lubricated with drinks round the pool and the beach, she worked tirelessly and was always cheerful.
Sorry for the delay in writing. I stayed here with my son in Feb. Due to certain circumstances I had to change my booking from 2 adults to 1 adult and 1 child. My travel agent wanted to charge me for doing this however Oscar at the resort sorted it all for me via email, that was the first big tick for this resort. On arrival nothing was too much trouble at all, easy check in and a welcome drink. We stayed in building 7 in the diamond club. What an experience and would highly recommend the extra price to upgrade. We had Katrina as our personal butler and she made the stay perfect. The biggest benefit was her booking all our restaurants, without this service we’d have to queue up at 3pm to make a reservation wasting valuable sunbathing! I fell ill during my stay and Katrina also arranged for medication to be delivered to my room and a Dr to visit should I need it. The rooms were amazing, they were made twice a day and a bath run for you should you require it. Everything was perfect and attention to detail was spot on. The food was also excellent and highly recommend the steak house. We will definitely be going back here and trying other royalton resorts based on our experience. A big thankyou to all the staff in Cancun!
Best Vacation Ever!
Life has gotten away from me since my vacation to The Royalton Riviera Cancun late last year - but writing this review has been on my list ever since because they deserve the following extremely positive review. A group of nine women/best friends picked The Royalton Riviera Cancun as our destination for our annual girls trip and to celebrate 3 of our birthdays. After it was all said and done - we all agreed that it was the best trip ever (and we are all frequent travelers). Granted - it helps to travel with a fun bunch - but, the trip would not have been the same if it weren't for everything that The Royalton had to offer and lived up to. It’s difficult to sum up the best vacation I’ve ever been on in a few words. If I had to pick 2 words - 1) surreal and 2) ridiculous. Surreal because it was so nice to be away from technology (I did have my phone on me to take pics/vids). But it was so refreshing (and surreal) to walk around the resort and have actual conversations with the staff: “Hello!” “How are you today?” “You’re the girls from 4102!” “Are you enjoying your stay?” “Can I help you with something?” “Are you the girls from the beach?” “Hope you have a great day!” “My pleasure!” These frequent communications with the Royalton staff had a significant impact on our stay. Ridiculous because the resort’s customer service, accommodations, restaurants, staff, food, spa, bars, entertainment, etc. were beyond amazing. The staff were always responsive to our every need and they even went out of their way to set-up a birthday cabana and serve us special birthday drinks. The only thing they weren’t able to do for us was skywrite in the sky upon our departure. Lol! I would highly recommend The Royalton Riviera Cancun - as they have something for every type of person and for whatever your travel purpose. I would also recommend getting a swim-out suite as well as going for a hydrotherapy session at their spa (one of the best spa experiences of my life). Thank you to all the Royalton staff for making this vacation one in which we will never forget. And - once we all get through COVID - I will definitely be returning!
Fabulous Resort - Definitely Recommend!
This was our second stay at the Royalton Riviera Maya hotel. The level of service we received was nothing short of amazing. All of the servers, restaurant staff, bartenders, cleaning staff and cooks were wonderful. Elias was our bartender and he was nothing short of amazing! He showed up every day with a smile on his face and took great care of us. Our housekeeping lady Veronica was a doll. She would create different towel animals each day. I know these are little things, but they made a difference. We were fortunate to have two dinners at Dorado and it did not disappoint. Our waiter Benito was fabulous and made sure to make my birthday dinner special. The Dorado Manager, Anthony was quick to take care of a scheduling problem with our culinary experience reservation and made sure that we had a wonderful dinner and were not turned away. We were extremely grateful for his kindness. I highly recommend trying the culinary experience. It was well worth additional charge. The food and wine pairings were nothing short of amazing. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time and we will definitely be back.
