Haven Riviera Cancun – Honest Review July 2025
Pros: •Close to the airport (about 15 minutes away). •Surprisingly quiet for July, which is typically peak season—no big crowds. Cons: •Food is a major letdown. The buffet is repetitive with the same few options every day. Nothing stands out, and most of it is bland. •Service is poor across the board. There’s no sense of hospitality or urgency. Staff rarely smile or acknowledge guests unless you really push for attention. •Drinks are extremely watered down. Being a Serenity Club member doesn’t change this. Cocktails taste like juice with barely any alcohol, and bartenders seem unsure how to make drinks listed on their own menu. •No nightlife. The Moon Cabaret is tiny, and once the evening show ends, there’s nothing else to do. It feels dead after 10 PM. •Not a 5-star resort by any stretch. The property has potential, but it’s poorly maintained and lacks basic service standards. One big red flag: the entertainment staff goes around pressuring guests to leave 5-star reviews—while standing over your shoulder and asking you to include their names. This likely explains all the glowing reviews on TripAdvisor and Google. Don’t be fooled by them. Room Issues (Room 6214): •Mold in both sinks. •Shower drain gave off a strong, unpleasant odor every time we ran the water. •Housekeeping was inconsistent—sheets often had stains or were torn, and towels were so worn out they looked like they belonged in a gym locker room. •It took three days for housekeeping to notice we were out of facial tissues and finally replace them. Other details: •The pool bar by the Italian restaurant only opens on weekends. On other days, you’re stuck waiting in a long line at the main pool bar—where only one bartender is working and looks visibly annoyed to be there. Even tipping didn’t make a difference in attitude or speed. •No drink is ever made the same way twice, even by the same bartender. Cups were rinsed quickly between uses, not actually cleaned. •Live music acts were painfully bad. •Restaurant and buffet staff often ignored guests, too busy chatting with each other to check on drinks or even bring water in a timely manner. Bottom line: This is not a 5-star experience. If you’re looking for good food, genuine hospitality, and a relaxing atmosphere, look elsewhere. The service is weak, the food is bland, and the positive online reviews are clearly inflated. Save your money and stay at a resort that actually lives up to the rating.

Vaca 2025
Overall the resort is beautiful, I just didn’t feel the wow throughout the trip. We told them it was our anniversary multiple times and it took our friends who had upgraded to serenity make it special. I feel like the spa was overpriced, we have traveled a lot and this was the first time we decided not to do the spa. BUT Levi at the round pool and David from flavors and vistas were very attentive. They actually made it very enjoyable while we were there.😊

Great resort but come in December -January to avoid the seaweed
Extremely comfortable and relaxing. Samuel, our waiter at the Serenity Pool, made us feel truly welcome and was a joy to talk with. This was our second visit, and we’ll definitely be returning.

A wonderful relaxing vacay.
Took a solo vacay here and thoroughly enjoyed my time. I highly recommend the Serenity upgrade as the restaurants, pool and drink upgrades are definitely worth it. Shout out to Samuel by the Serenity pool and Henry at Limes Bar for making me feel well taken care of and welcomed. Overall a wonderful vacation and I hope to be back in the future.

A great holiday
This hotel is fabulous and the staff are so friendly. Great food choices especially for coeliacs. The team at Agua Bendita were amazing including Jonathon, Santos, Sugey, Luis, Aquino and Russel.
