    Honeymoon trip

We have mixed feelings about the Hard Rock. The food is great - probably the best we’ve ever had at an all inclusive. Zen was our favourite, definitely try and get a reservation for a hibachi table as it’s a great experience. The buffet breakfast in Frida is tasty and well stocked. Fernando looked after us every morning - he learned my coffee order after the first day and always greeted us really warmly. I felt the hotel was quite anonymous because of the size so this friendly face was welcome. The beds are extremely comfortable and Angel kept our room spotless the entire trip. We’d also like to acknowledge the poolside concierge who were super attentive making sure they found us sun beds and umbrellas every day - they really made our holiday so relaxing. We only went to a couple of evening shows but both were great and really enjoyable. There was a Mexican night in the ballroom one evening and this was really well put together and an enjoyable alternative for a night. The main bar gets busy at night but we found there was plenty of staff working to make sure we weren’t waiting long for our drinks. Room service is also included in the all inclusive so there’s a separate menu for that if you just want a quiet evening. For me, the biggest negative is the Legendary membership. Our honeymoon wasn’t cheap but immediately we were excluded from bars and a restaurant plus private pool areas and Bali beds on the beach. Now we didn’t pay for that so I can (almost) understand the 2 tier system. But legendary guest can also reserve sunloungers around the communal pool. These would often lie unused until mid afternoon and were always the loungers closest to the pool. This seemed unreasonable to me. I’m also not sure if there was an issue with drains on our floor or if it was one of the dogs staying nearby but the corridor to our room developed a strong smell of urine in the last week of our trip. The maintenance team seemed to be working in the riser most days so it seems it was being rectified. We found Tauro to be the worst restaurant and in the 3 interactions we had with the team there, we never felt welcome. I’m not sure if it’s because it’s popular/busy but they made us feel like an inconvenience so we ended up only eating there once. Finally, we had a room that had a connecting door to the neighbouring room. The door was locked throughout but over the 2 weeks we had several neighbours and were frequently disrupted by noisy guests, kids trying the door and people vomiting noisily after a hard night at the bar. The team at the checkin desk weren’t interested in listening to my husbands requests for another room and the girl he dealt with was actually openly rude to him for the rest of our stay - at one point walking away from her desk when he approached. Not very rock and roll!

    Bad experience

Staff is using deceptive tactics to try to sell their legendary club vacation packages. If I’m paying for a Diamond package room is to enjoy my vacation, having people walking around the hotel constantly harassing you to try to sell you a club membership is not what I call relaxing on my vacation. After check in the immediately handed me off to a legendary membership agent without telling me what was happening and making it seem like it was part of the check in process. As I was being asked to join for a breakfast, I clearly asked several times what this breakfast was all about and was told that it was simply to show me how I can book my vacations directly with the hotel. I clearly said I’m not interested on any timeshare or club membership yet I was still advised that this was not what the breakfast intention was.
