Under Normal Circumstances, It's Probably A Good Choice, But Not Now & Not For Us.
I'm trying to be optimistic by giving this property an "Average" rating, but unfortunately my review is going to be very reminiscent of the other latest review on this hotel. While I think it's commendable that the hotel is willing to help displaced people (possibly from the most recent hurricane), it would have been nice to know ahead of time. as we would have chosen a different option to stay at. Typically Hampton Inns are consistent in their atmosphere and reputation, but with the questionable people loitering in and around the property, it just wasn't an experience we were willing to pay for. In addition, because of all these people who were temporarily living at the hotel (possibly through FEMA or the Red Cross), their cars stayed parked in the hotel's parking garage all the time. This left absolutely no room for our car. When I asked the front desk gal abut other possible parking options, she stated that unfortunately there wasn't any additional parking associated with the property, so she said we were on our own as far as finding a spot wherever we could, even if it was a mile or more away. Long story short, we felt like we couldn't leave the hotel if we actually found a spot to park in, for fear of not having one when we came back (in addition, let me tell you, you need some mad parking skills to maneuver though this parking garage). Finally, seeing people walking around with their alcohol throughout the garage was unsettling too. We were supposed to stay at the hotel 4 nights, but decided to check out early and move to another propertyl due to questionable people staying in and around the building/parking lot, but most of all because of the lack of parking options for a paying guest. I feel for the hotel staff because I'm guessing the entire situation is out of their hands, but as far as it being the Hampton Inn experience you're used to, it is not (at least not right now).
Stayed 2 nights while in town for college visit
Avoid staying here. To start out the Staff was very disinterested with patrons upon check in, there was not even a hello. And calling for service nobody would even answer the phone. We were disturbed by the fact that they were creepy people always hanging around the entrance and the walkway from the parking garage. It made us uncomfortable for safety. There was a police car constantly parked in front—I guess for good reason. Upon talking to a local friend he said they likely had taken in homeless people currently. The parking garage was a disaster. There is no valet now, which is not a problem but people would just park their cars wherever. Both mornings we went to leave to find people illegally parked, and were lucky to be able to pull out with 15 mins of going back and forth to clear, making us late to an appointment. On the last day someone just parked there car in the exit. Finally they decided to make guests register cars—we found a note on our car when we were checking out. You think??? The price of the hotel was very reasonable but I don’t think we would stay there again if free.
I have stayed at this location before and this time i was very disappointed. In the time of Covid I expect the hospitality industry to have outstanding cleaning practices. My first room was sealed stating it was clean and it was not. The desk and tv area had crumbs and hair on it and our shower curtain had a stain that could have been blood. When we called front desk they sent someone up who instead of apologizing told me he knew that room was clean and don’t know why I found what I did and that on the shower curtain it was not blood most likely wine and just find not come out in the wash, WHAT!!! So if you washed it, I am supposed to be ok with a bloody curtain?I brought my own Lysol and wipes and cleaned the room myself and would have stayed in the room but I could not overlook the fact the stain on the curtain looked like blood. He then stated they do have a room we can move in, so my husband went to the new room to check if it was clean it was better. We only stayed one night and got in pretty late so the next day I looked up in the bathroom and there was hair on the wall that was not mine and my husband is bald.If you have to travel to New Orleans during this pandemic do not stay here, I do understand workforce maybe lower and things are different but you must provide a clean room to your customers pandemic or not.

My wife sometimes gets a bit flabbergasted at the amount of time I spend researching before a short (or not so short) road trip. But the fact of the matter is that I am always trying to find something that is different, special, memorable. Life is short right? Well, this place is a home run! Thank you Trip advisor reviewers. This Hampton Inn is truly special. When we walked into our room we were blown away as it is everything the pictures told us and more. Not much more I can say. This place is awesome. Location, its fine. Easy access to wherever. Lots of good eats around the corners (if the city is opened back up!). Love, love, love this building!
This is one of the BEST places i have EVER stayed!!!
My husband and I stayed at this hotel in September of 2019...I'm a little late posting this but i wanted them to know they did a GREAT job...we have stayed several places in NOLA before but this will ALWAYS be our home away from home from now on!!! I got the names of some of the front desk workers and the concierges...i wish i had got the names of the people who served and cleaned up the breakfast each day because it was SO CLEAN and DELICIOUS...not to mention that staff was SUPER sweet too!!! the front desk workers were Jasmine D., Brittany, Glariorie( i'm not sure that's right but i couldn't read the writing clearly) the concierges names were Germane, Tyree and Sebastian...they took such GREAT care of our care and getting us to and from the shuttle for the cruise which by the way was AWESOME to leave our car at the hotel and they loaded and unloaded our luggage and took us to and from the cruise ship...all in all our stay was AMAZING and we WILL go back!!! GREAT JOB ALL OF Y'ALL!!! PS...they were even helpful in the middle of the night when I realized I forgot to print my luggage tags for the cruise...they have an office area that is free to use at anytime!!!
