    Amazing Get-Away!

This was my husband’s and my second time staying at the Grand Velas Riveria Maya. We originally stayed at this resort for our honeymoon 6 years ago, and came back to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary. But let me tell you the service of the staff from the bell man, Alejandro, to our checkin/check out process with Noemi, to our cabana staff, Nora/Israel/Oscar/Humberto, to our servers, Willian/Jamie/Luis, and our fabulous personal concierge, Marco, was so outstanding that I’m actually considering going back in January 2021 for a girls trip! The resort staff was friendly, always had a smile on their faces, the establishment was impeccably clean, and they accommodated my husband’s and my request with speed and efficiency! Thank you so much to all the Grand Velas Riveria Maya staff and team for another wonderfully, amazing stay!!!

    A unique luxury resort

This resort has an impressive health protocol in all of the hotel services. The rooms are absolutely beautiful and comfortable, well-cared tropical gardens, the public areas are very clean, the infinite pool is just amazing. We really enjoyed our stay at this resort. The food was incredible, I strongly suggest the "Author Cuisine" night, you will spend an extraordinary experience. The most important value of this resort is its people, our gratitude to the concierge Daniela, the waitress at the pool Nora, waiters Luisito I and Luisito II, Jaime, the friendly falconer guy and all the staff that made our stay a wonderful experience. I am a travel agent, and for sure I will recommend this resort to my clients.

    Great food

We visited Grand Velas during the Covid pandemic. We felt very safe and felt that the staff were taking every precaution to keep the guests healthy. While we were there, all dining and activity had been clustered into a central location. We didn’t get to experience each restaurant in its location; rather, the resort rotated the menus each day in the central location. It was truly the best food we have ever tasted an any all-inclusive resort we have visited. We had excellent service by our concierge and the service from the bar was top-notch. I’m excited to visit Grand Velas again post-covid and really get the full experience of the resort.

    Rip off

We had to cancel because of Covid travel restrictions. The owner and VRBO promised we would get a full refund if we cancelled. Based on their representations we cancelled after 5 months or runaround they finally said we would not get a any refund. Don't trust these people.

This is a very bittersweet review for me as I have visited the resort numerous times and on each occasion have had the most memorable experience. However on this visit the experience has been less then ideal. The staff is amazing, hardworking and does everything possible to insure you have the most wonderful time. From the minute you arrive you are greeted with a smile and every staff member you encounter is warm and kind. The issue is with management. They are not forthcoming or transparent in their representation of the situation at the resort. We are well aware of the current health concerns but were not informed prior to our arrival of just how limited the amenities actually were. We booked at the adult only section of the resort and paid a healthy premium so doing so. Unfortunately due to the current situation many families with young children have been moved to this section. This is understandable but there could have been an effort to keep the guest with children secluded. We were kept awake on numerous nights with the noise made by the children. As part of staying in the upgraded area you are given access to the adult only pool. Unfortunately and disappointingly the management has allow young children in the pool and sitting at the bar where there is limited seating and therefore we were not given access. If this was the only pool open I would not have an issue, but this was not the case. The family pool was opened the entire time but management failed to do its job. We absolutely love the restaurants here but once again due to the health situation most restaurants are closed. Again understandable but prior to our arrival our reservation had been changed on numerous without any of our input. Once we arrived our wonderful concierge Santiago did everything to accommodate us This resort is spectacular and the staff is the wonderful but because of management failure to disclose the situation I will think long and hard before returning. I would absolutely not visit or return until the resort is at 100% capacity.
