Avoid this sub-standard place
AVOID the Grand Summit Hotel in the Canyons Village section of Park City, Utah. We selected this hotel for a September 2022 trip after being told that the swimming pool was open and was heated. Imagine our disappointment when we arrived to find the swimming pool and entry driveway completely under reconstruction and not open for use. Had we known this beforehand, we would have chosen another hotel. The entire hotel was like a ghost town. Construction workers outnumbered the hotel staff (who were embarrassed and apologetic about the condition of the hotel and its amenities). Only one restaurant was open and that was only for a few hours in the evening. Even the ice machines were broken. The main front door was locked and barricaded, so every time we returned from an outing, we had to enter through the parking garage or through a side door which led to a long hallway to the front desk. Bottom line: the Grand Summit was not straightforward about the substandard, disheveled condition of the hotel before we made our reservation. Neither the reservations staff nor the website can be trusted to provide honest information. We did not receive the quality we had paid for. I doubt the reconstruction will be completed before the start of the 2022-2023 ski season.
A poor quality hotel in the mountains of Park city
I came for a conference l. When I walked into the room and saw a coffee maker in-front of the TV but no water. I thought perhaps house keeping missed it I called downstairs they said they would said two bottles up, problem solved I thought, great. Later got a call back to select a water and there’s a in room dinning fee plus 20% gratuity in something hotels of lower caliber (and higher ones) give free in their rooms. They also have a card for morning breakfast we filled it out and placed it out our door by 10pm the previous night with the time we would like our items (9-930) (the card has a time set for 2am the latest to place the card out your door ) this morning 930 rolled around and no breakfast I look out my door and the card wasn’t picked up. I don’t see a number for in-room dinning, called the front desk and they tell me they would have someone from in room call me. 15 minutes pass by and no call. I call back downstairs, and they finally gave me a direct extension. I called in room dinning, explained the situation to be met by a woman arguing I didn’t put the card out because she did her walk around at 6am. I told her to check their camera systems if she had a doubt of what time I left my card out and it was very unprofessional to accuse people of lying like she was. This isn’t the first time we have our conference here and have encountered inconveniences during our stay, I will truly advocate to take our business elsewhere
Great location and great staff!
Wonderful location in Canyons Village. The staff went above and beyond to make you feel welcome and taken care of. Front Desk staff was extremely helpful and especially Jonah Sorensen. He attended to our every need and questions!
Fantastic spot for skiers and non skiers
When we arrived valet brought all our luggage to our room. We booked a loft I don’t ski so it was nice for me to be able to watch from my window my family going out. The loft was large and had enough kitchen items to make cooking easy. House keeping was great they came daily wouldn’t know they were short staffed. This is definatly a great spot for skiers the lift is right out the back. The only thing you need to keep in mind is the restaurant within the hotel does not offer the epic pass discount the food was pricey and we wouldn’t have eaten there had we known . Smiths grocery store is not far with some restaurants back by there o would recommend stocking Up there.
Great Stay NYE Weekend
We stayed at the Grand Summit New Years Weekend. We had a great stay. We got in very late the date of our arrival and the gentlemen at the front desk said that he was waiting for us. We checked into our room- it was standard 2 double beds, etc. I don't ski but my family does. I knew I was going to be spending a lot of time in the room so I asked Maddie at the front desk if there were any upgrades available. Aside from being so kind and helpful, she not only switched our room but was able to get a friend of ours (who was staying at another hotel) a room at The Grand Summit. The location is excellent. My kids literally walked out of the hotel and hopped onto the gondola to go skiing. It is so convenient- especially if you are out of town or have ski and snowboard equipment to lug around. We will definitely stay here again when in the area!
