Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa

The resort is amazing. The view is beautiful, when you walk into the hotel lobby you are greeted by a picturesque view of the ocean. Pool is great and there is a salt water lagoon to play in as well. They have a water slide that is fun for the whole family and other activies planned daily for the kids. Also three different hot tubs to enjoy. There is a beach in front of the Hyatt called Shipwreck Beach. Fun to get your feet wet and play in the sand but don't plan on going out too deep unless you are a very experienced in the ocean. There is Poipu Beach minutes away which is better for families. Rooms are comfortable and beds are comfortable. There are several dining options at the hotel, restaurants and more casual coffee bar that has smoothies, coffees and breakfast items.

Some of the Best Customer Service Ever Encountered

Upon check in, we had an issue with our room. The Front Desk attendant and Manager that evening were unhelpful. After stating our concerns that evening, we were contacted the next day by the Fromt Office Manager and Director of Rooms who quickly resolved our issue. What turned out to be a bad start to our stay turned out to be a great experience because. Thanks so much Gina and Bobby! The resort itself is beautiful. The weather didn’t cooperate most of our stay but we made the best of it at the resort. The family enjoyed the pool, pickle ball, restaurants and the evening entertainment. Because of the great customer service we received and amenities, we hope to be back to the Grand Hyatt.

    Sad nursing home luau

Surely this isn’t the actual normal luau at the $1400/night Grand Hyatt and at the $200/person Grand Hyatt luau. It felt like everyone called in sick and they had to go to the Motel down the street to get people at the last minute. I hate to be this mean about it, and I’m sure that staffing on this island is difficult, but this was pretty sad. Everything about this hotel is kind of middling. When I came here 8 years ago it was amazing. Now it’s showing its wear pretty bad. Again, I hate to be mean about it, but it feels like Hyatt is cash-cowing this place and not paying what they have to pay to get the best people. I imagine the tension is that people want more money, and the management is expected to keep profits up, but they’re going to just have to do what they have to do on profitability to keep the standard up. Otherwise it’ll collapse and that’s what it feels like is happening.

Great experience with even greater staff

We had reservations through the Make-A-Wish foundation or I don’t think we could have afforded the stay. When we first walked through the doors and saw the openness and the scenery we were in love with the place. Doug M at the Bell station was a tremendous help and was just the best person and so helpful. He offered to give my daughter a private surf lesson anytime during our trip. He kept his promise and took her out the next day. We met him at Poipu Surf where his Poipu Beach Surf School is and he spoke with the shop and allowed her to pick out a sweater (she really loves sweaters). We then went to the beach where he gave her a surf lesson and let her ride the waves. She was so happy, it made her trip to Kauai. I say all this because how wonderful of a person Doug M is. Any other person may have seen she was a Make-A-Wish kid and dropped our bags off and left, but he went above all our expectations of his duty. From there all we did was experience wonderful staff everywhere we went. Clean facilities, great restaurants, great swimming pools, and overall beautiful scenery. I highly recommend the Grand Hyatt.

The Grand Hyatt is a MUST STAY

My husband and I had an incredible time here in our honeymoon! Upon arrival, we were given beautiful leis, a complimentary bottle of champagne to celebrate, and a complimentary room upgrade! How incredible!! The property is amazing and you can tell that everything was well thought through, from the beautiful pools to the amazing landscaping. The staff were attentive and every time we called the front desk they knew the answers to our questions and were super friendly. If we come back to Kauai, we will definitely stay here again. It was truly the best resort we’ve been to!
